This is my favorite Sleep Token song. This songs lyrics are cryptic but a fount of deep emotion. I think that he wrote this song because his godmother, referenced in Take Me Back To Eden, suffered from Sundowning and passed on. This is also about his life. Sleep is his escape from a tortuous existence as well as where he met his "god" and had his life changed. He completely flips Sundowning on its head making it good for him that he forgets! Such a tragic song.

The irony of forgetting the name of the disease that makes you forget things is pretty funny. I worked at an elder care facility and the residents with dementia had bad cases of sundowning. The album this song is on is also called Sundowning.

So glad you’ve finally gone to the back catalog of Sleep Token. From here you need to start a series and listen to the whole trilogy start to finish. The story Vessel weaves is beautiful, heartbreaking and inspiring all at the same time. His music will make you smile, dance, headbang and cry (sometimes all in the same song).

The 3 albums of this group’s mythic story also center around a mystical deity the lead singer Vessel calls Sleep. His pursuit of Sleep and Sleep’s hold over him as a powerful deity is also woven into the songs so you can either take meaning from that story line running through each album or find other layers of meaning just from real life and being human. Vessel weaves all these themes so effortlessly it works both as a mythic story and as the collective experiences in love and loss of each of us in our own lives.

One thing i know about sleep token is they will change you if you let them. Let the music in your soul, let the music completely crush you, let it break your heart into pieces. Cry, sob then do it all over again and you will come out a different person i did and im so greatful for it.

This is the first song on the band's first album and the first single from said album... as well as the first song I ever heard by them. It is such a beautiful introduction to, well, everything. I knew this band was special from this first song alone.

So other people are saying that this song might be his grandmother that he lost from dementia, but for me, it's totally different. I think it's about the toxic relationship he had with this girl and how she changes (in a good way) at night. All the fights and problems they have during the day are forgotten and fade into the night -> "And you remember everything, only til the sun recedes once again, The night comes down like heaven." And to me, the last verse at the end means that when the sun goes down, everything becomes peaceful and sincere so they "tangle endlessly like lovers entwined" but he knows it will not last til the sunrise, so he says "give me the night".. This is just my interpretation. I think the lyrics are beautifulllll.

My grapa died from Alzheimer's so song like this hit hard,also if you are gonna still digging the Sleep Token rabbit hole and lore definitely as couple of people are saying you should enden with Euclid, that's gonna be epic my friend,also if you continue with this album I suggest give a listen to Dark Sings or Bloodsport from the room below

Yes people with dementia or Alzheimer’s can become very restless and agitated at night snd prone to wandering. It’s called sun downing I had 2 relatives who sadly suffered with dementia and tried to go outside at night or just roam aimlessly all over the house.

The toughest part of watching somebody you love with Dementia or Alzheimer's. It's just watching. Them can't finish a sentence just wandering around aimlessly. Forgetting names or even who you are. That took the biggest toll on me even over her death. God I Miss you Mom And like he said, tell the people you love and care About every Day Because in the future. You will wish that you have. Done so you're gonna Wish you have. Sorry, people For just Ranting you are Hear for music, not listen to me, wine.

Its called sundowning syndrome, giid catchm this song is the first one off the album Sundowning 😉 A lot of the music, the vocalist is safer at night, he has his pain, his memories, his suffering taken from him by Sleep. The night coming down like heaven, all the pain, everything leaves at night. Just my take

I haven't got into the previous two albums since I'm in a trance listening to Take Me Back To Eden, but the call back to this song from Euclid on the new album blew my mind and made me smile. I love how they call back to previous work to see if you're paying g attention. Amazing band, amazing reaction.

Just read through my earlier post, and realized a couple key words were left out by my phone. Re-posting after edit. So, I’m still kind of working through the lyrics myself. Trying to understand the phrase “the night comes down like heaven,” I contrast it with the earlier lyric “you live by daylight, with angels at your side.” Angels are often associated with heaven, and heaven is often associated with altitude, or being in the clouds. And so the night coming down like heaven implies, to me, a collapse. As though the subject’s metaphorical heaven collapses when night descends. Night descends, collapsing the subject’s heavenly state of being.

"Bestow" is actually "to grant or give," not "to honor." Also, your interpretation is so much different from mine, but yours also makes a lot more sense so I think it's more correct...
