Layne's reactions are like me when my dad would watch old Wild West shows. Oh, I still sat and watched with him, because Dad came prepared with a Costco bag of potato chips and gallon of sour cream and chives dip, happy to share with any of us kids who would watch his favorite shows with him... but we were still like "OMG Daaaaad, it's so cheesy!" I'm sure I'd be the same way watching 90s reruns, if I had kids.
This is from an album that Disney released, most likely in the parks in the 50s or so. The original song was performed by Thurl Ravenscroft who is Geoff’s muse. I love the energy, and the byplay between the two of them on the couch. Layne looks so irritated as Geoff keeps annoying him!😂 It does seem like it should be the opening to a television program and I’m always reminded of the Brady Bunch when I see it. The same colors, and everything very geometric.

It is a very catchy song. So upbeat. And the interactions between Geoff and Layne are so funny 😂. And Geoff does love his popcorn. He ate it in Way Down too.
He had been doing solos for over a year at this point. And if you notice, despite the bouncy tempo and melody, this is another one about dead cowboys. It's almost a prequel to Ghostriders with the line "He's calling those he knows should ride Just as they lived and just as they died Some are doomed by the judge's word To the ghostly riders and the devil's herd" If you watch the Behind the Scenes, they were adlibbing the final tag line that Layne says. Several hilarious choices.
I have watched this a number of times, partly for the interaction between Layne and Geoff, but it wasn’t till today that I caught the reference to ghost riders.
I love your Geoff reactions. I'll be sad when you're all caught up and we'll have to wait for new Geoff content for you to react to. Thanks for the hours of fun!
I'd almost forgotten about this one. Vocals aside (because they're ALWAYS awesome), this might be my favorite video, just because of the ending. It's just really funny, and it's cool to see Layne in it.
Have you seen any of his shorts? Would highly recommend his new ones - "Texas Hold em" "Trust in me" and his older ones "Grim Grinning ghosts" "Further up the road" and "I put a spell on you" and he does some short "live" versions of his full songs. Really shows off his impressive raw talent. (and if you want random Castellucci life try - "Pickle Sandwiches" or "Pizza night"🤣)
