The screensaver term was coined when we used the old boxy CRT monitors which used Tubes and Phosphor to function. If the screen was left on with a static wallpaper the phosphor used to stick to that particular place permanently so screensavers were used to move it around constantly.
7:29 Actually its a good feature to have an option to limit charge to 80%, Li-ion batteries will get better life span if they are used in between 80% & 30% also i always use my laptop while plugged in, the same feature is in my laptop but in a hidden setting its turned on all the time, so even if i use it while charging it won't go above 80% and i think its good
7:28 Devices are restricted to 80% charge to increase the battery life of the device. (It is optional, and even Apple gives that option) Lithium ion batteries don't like being fully charged or fully drained. They lose their total capacity or their health over time. If you constantly keep your device plugged in all the time, or charge it to full capacity, you will see battery health dropping below 90% of its original capacity within a year or two. You will have to replace them with fresh ones.
It's a good feature for gaming laptops or users who always use their laptop plugged in, otherwise it's not really a good thing to have turned on by default. Because these types of laptops are supposed to last longer than gaming laptops. And we don't always have a charger or power socket near us, unlike when using gaming laptops.
Tbh anything under it is not a “good” option at all. You can barely meet the minimum necessities with heavy drawbacks. I want a real good laptop as cheap as it could be but that doesn’t mean barely works as long as it’s cheap . This is the lowest you can get for a good laptop . If you want a decent one that just does the job it’s another story .
Also the power key is actually placed very well as you'll not accidentally shut down your system. Also if you use "delete" key a lot, it's a boon for it to be the last key. Text editing and deleting files becomes a breeze.
Batteries when charged to 80-85% gives them longer life. If you charge your devices even twice to 80%, the battery would degrade less than if you charge it once to 100%. And laptops are generally used near to power sources so it makes more sense to charge them upto a certain degree and you can charge them whenever you want in most cases. Otherwise you have the option to take it too 100%. Although I would agree its battery life is poor. I'm happy Asus provided this option to preserve battery, some smartphones have this feature as well.
Screen saver was first used in CRT monitors during windows Vista eras, same what happen in OLED, CRT monitors also has same negative issue BURN in 🔥. To counter this at that time was a windows button jumping around the screen or complex pipes moving around the screen like 🐍 snake game🌝. So hence this saves the screen from burn in, it is called screen saver
The audio loudness increases drastically if you use the dts audio app, select custom, infront profile and toggle all the enhancements. And for the annoying black screen while plugging in is because the default settings of laptop is to have HDR on only while plugedin and not to use in battery power. Change that you won't see a black screen.
@@kxrxnnn it’s working fabulously unless you try to run something that NEEDS a dedicated gpu, but doing that would be stupidity ofc. Apart from that, no issues so far, no lag, no nothing. I’ve run flutter apps with andriod emulator on this, didn’t close the emulator for the entire night and still it works great the next morning. But it’s selling for around 75k on flipkart rn. I bought it for 68k.
So display going black and being back on when connected to charger is due to changing of screen refresh rate when charger is plugged. At plugged state, refresh rate goes to 90Hz (or whatever your laptop supports highest) and while charger is removed refresh rate drops back to 60Hz to save battery. This behavior is present in all ASUS laptops , obviously the ones supporting higher refresh rate. You can change this behavior from Armoury Crate Ap.
Makes sense! The laptop by default came in 60 Hz. I pushed it to 90 Hz. I was sure this was due to battery profile switch but couldn’t pin point to refresh rate switch.
About the screen blinking when connecting power. In Asus gaming laptops, that's a feature where it switches the refresh rate automatically, where it switches to 144Hz when you connect the power adapter, or 60Hz vice-versa Check whether the refresh rate is still 90Hz (I believe this laptop has a 90hz screen) while you are in battery power. If not, that's what's happening to the screen when you connect/disconnect the adapter.
As a student no one will spend that much money even half of it. So, if possible kindly review a practical option for students for daily use kinda laptops under or around 40k cause this is the max limit pone could go for that kinda laptop.
The display goes off for some time when plugged in because it turns on HDR. Turn off the HDR or switch it on for even when running on battery to avoid this.
A screensaver (or screen saver) is a computer program that blanks the display screen or fills it with moving images or patterns when the computer has been idle for a designated time. The original purpose of screensavers was to prevent phosphor burn-in on CRT or plasma computer monitors (hence the name). 🤓
the reason with 80 percent battery life is to preserve the battery ,since if it is kept at 100 percent charge more lithium ions are used which bring the battery health down so it is advised to always make sure charge stays at 20 to 80
7:42 About the charge plugin It is optional too, in My asus app refresh rate is dynamic and it's written there that if you plug in the screen will go black for a while. So just change it to static 60Hz or 90Hz.
One mistake to be rectified is that the RAM stick is 8 GB and is upgradable upto 24 GB in total, meaning you can install a 16 GB RAM stick. The other 8 GB is soldered into the MB.
I think the keeping the delete in the corner is good move because most laptops with separate power buttons have delete key in the corner and people are used to pressing the corner most key for deleting stuffs unconciously while for power button one can consciously look for it while switching
Firstly, about the 80% charging threshold, it prolongs the battery life Secondly, I don't know who uses their laptop for 2/3 years, maybe working professionals, but as you're suggesting this laptop to students, I can assure you that they're gonna use this thing for 5/6 years minimum. I'm still using my 2013 bought Dell Inspiron laptop with Intel i3 2nd gen processor and 2 GB of RAM. This year I added 2 more GBs of RAM and replaced my 512 GB hdd with a 128GB SSD. Now it's running like new ! Oh yeah , I replaced the keyboard twice till date and replaced the battery once in 2017.
I have purchased s15 oled at 75k. It's around 20 days i am using this laptop, and the only thing I can say about this beast that it is perfect in every aspect of use. I also do decent gaming like gta 5, forza horizon, Call of duty at normal settings and as i am a student so i don't need any egpu . I would recommend it to every student.
@@owl166Although till now it's awesome i was also planning for the s14 but bcoz of its battery backup i changed my mind you can go for the 14 inch if battery backup is not your major concern.
I was literally just looking for a laptop, thanks guys , but can you please go lower on the budget and make one video for the best laptop under 50k. Love your content.
I bought this laptop for 58k during BBD sale. Overall a good laptop (with average battery life). Also one correction, it does support 90hz refresh rate
I purchased this at 57K in the BBD sale. Laptop is really nice. Only con is battery life. The Evo certification guarantees around 9hrs of battery. But at 2.8K 90 Hz OLED , it lasts only around 5-6 hours. The certification is when u set 1080p display, I guess.
I too purchased it during BBD sale. Try using it at 2.8K 60Hz, quiet fan profile and set battery to charge till 100% through the Asus app. That would take you closer to rated 9hrs, but yes not the full 9 hrs. When you want more performance, you can simply change the fan profile to allow the CPU to use full 45 Watts.
@@ankuranurag9004 Not possible, axis and icici card were applicable and in any case price can't go beyond 60k, I challenge you if you show me your invoice(by any means...via email/social media) of 57k
Actually i have the same laptop. When you open a game...the default resolution goes to the screen resolution i.e. 2880x1800, which is a lot especially for a laptop with iris xe graphics. When you reduce the screen resolution to 1080p in windows and then open the game... it's way better. Atleast that's what I experienced in genshin impact (I'm not a gamer, i casually play some games). You will see some black bars on top and bottom but it's an OLED screen so not an issue.
@@mrBabyDriver.re2 not much. I play genshin because some of my friends are playing it and i like the anime like style of it. Will try gta 5 in future tho 😅.
@@naranmajhi5105 no idea bro. But if fifa is not a demanding game, then it should. If you are planning to play games look for some other device with a dedicated GPU. This device is not for gaming.
Battery not charging after certain limit is called threshold limit or conservation mode It is very useful, this increase battery life, Because you can use laptop full day while charging.
I am surprised that you didn't know why battery charge is maxed up to 80% by default. I do that using thrid party . The fact that laptop has it by default is really good. Edit: Oh sorry. I dont know if i said it right. I have a acer laptop and i re-downloaded the acer care app ( it might pe pre-installed, but i had removed it) i think from MS store. And it has that battery calibration settings. Which allow me to do that.
I have been looking videos after videos for a laptop with oled and for photo editing. Your video is well made and on point. I dont play games at all. Just editing and movies. Thats it. Thanos
I have the same laptop but a 15 inch one and I love the laptop I am able to do casual gaming and college stuff like run autocad and do coding . I highly recommend anyone who is looking for a laptop under 75k . You can play valorant without any issue . The speakers in this laptop are very loud tho . In the 15 inch model the battery life does last upto 7 hrs on daily usage . Don't expect the battery to last long while gaming . I played valo on it and the battery used to drain really quick . The charging speed is good like it charges the laptop in less than one hour or one hour . Highly recommend this laptop for college student who want to do coding and run some heavy apps .
I don't have much idea about techs or anything, neither i can afford one of these, but your charming personality makes me watch every single video of your channel, keep it up, wish you best for the future:3
The switching on and off of display while plugging is due to the switching of refresh rates from 90 to 60hz.It was there in my rog lap too but I could stop it from armory crate.Something similar might be there in this lap too.
"whenever u connect the charger, the display turns off for a while", its not a glitch, whenever u put the laptop on charge it switches the refresh rate from 60hz to 90hz (dynamic refresh rate feature which can be turned off). if u turn off the dynamic refresh rate feature then it wont turn off the display when connecting to charger.
Hi , how did u got it for 58 k and how much battery backup it gives , suppose power saving mode + 60 hz+ 1080p resolution + 30-40% brightness as it is very bright 400-600 nits + low med speakers, all these settings with youtube 1080p running.
Got the same laptop in BBD @ Rs60350 and only disappointment was sound+ battery life(expectations are higher from evo certified laptops). super impressed with the finger print scanner. Rest no issues at all
screensaver (or screen saver) is a computer program that blanks the display screen or fills it with moving images or patterns when the computer has been idle for a designated time. The original purpose of screensavers was to prevent phosphor burn-in on CRT or plasma computer monitors (hence the name). Though most modern monitors are not susceptible to this issue (with the notable exception of OLED technology, which has individual pixels vulnerable to burnout), screensaver programs are still used for other purposes. Screensavers are often set up to offer a basic layer of security by requiring a password to re-access the device.[1] Some screensaver programs also use otherwise-idle computer resources to do useful work, such as processing for volunteer computing projects.[2]
In the past screen savers were actually to save the screen as the CRT monitors used to leave burn ins when something static was left on the screen for a long time.
I think a 50-60k laptop is not budget for many of the viewers (especially students)...just a suggestion for future videos...rest you make good tech videos and reviews..keep up the good work
back in the CRT era... CRTs also experienced ghost images. since computer desktops when not used, show a static image the screen saver was introduced which turns on when the screen isnt in use for some time and puts a moving image on the screen. TL:DR the screen saver was introduced to prevent ghost images or burnins in CRTs
Delete button in corner, and power next to it is good design choice, power button is used only for on or off, but delete may be used more(depending on usage), and people are tuned to layout of delete button above backspace.
Hello brother , i plan to buy asus zenbook but i dont like oled , so i prefer to get macbook air m1 2020 , which was 4 yrs old now , is this. A great decision for me or what should i consider?? Please help ...i really like the clarity of images on Apple laptops
Acer aspire 7 with intel i5 12th gen and rtx 3050 and thunderbolt 4 is on sale for 58k. But aspire series is more focused on productivity so it only has 60hz display. IdeaPad gaming 3, Acer Nitro, and Asus tuf , msi have laptops with high refresh rate display for same price but has a generation old processor with rtx 3050. If you are looking to buy amd powered laptop, do not be fooled by 4000 series chip, 5000 series is better, but unfortunately 6000 series is only available under Rog brand and it's expensive.
@@jeetshah6554 unfortunately RU-vid will delete comment if i share link here. It's present on homapage under gaming laptops section, or search for rtx 3050 in laptops and sort low to high.
Ryzen 5600H version of the same laptop is a better laptop. My friend purchased one for 53k on Amazon sale and it has 6-7 hour battery life. My Thinkpad E14 with 5700u gives 10-11 hours battery backup. I have observed that Ryzen Laptops give better battery backup than Intel ones, even the new 12th gen ones.
The screen blinking when u connect the charger is the screen turning on HDR it will refresh the screen and do it Btw i have Asus Vivobook pro 15 Same issues were faced but when u turn on HDR in battery mode and connect the charger it won't blink
IMO the Acer Aspire 7 at around 50K is a much better laptop in terms of all but weight. Bought mine about 3 years ago now, and the CPU and GPU upgrades alone make it worth it to buy for anyone on a midrange 50Kish budget, as the difference in performance will be immediately apparent. It also has a great, bright color accurate IPS display which is more than enough in indoor conditions for such a large display, with deep blacks. This laptop seems to be in an OLED and USB-C charging niche, which are not really quite as essential as having good base specs. 60-70k for this device really does not seem to be very worth it unless you are very particular about those.
Really depends on what u want to use your laptop for right i mean for most of the guts we know this laptop can be better but aspire still beats it in gaming point of view and overall performance also if u will compare overall. And if u want to use linux the overall software features these laptops provide does not seems to works directly in them like so thats also an issue
@@maynk9518 bhay 50k me kitne gaming laptops aa rahe hai.. the only con is they are bulky.. but perfomance wise isse lakh guna ache hai.. isme toh integrated gpu hai.. you can easily get dedicated gpu too in this price range which is much better
Hey Pratik, i own this laptop and I think there are issues with your piece like i am easily getting 7-8 hr on 80% battery mode indoors(50-70% brightness). Secondly, the charging black screen is also not an issue for me. I also disagree about the speakers like someone who has used a Xiaomi laptop before, these are pretty good if you use them on a table. Although, i also have to say Asus really needs to work on quality control like my fingerprint sensor has stopped working and one of my keys has got a fault in the mechanism so it's stiffer on one side. If these issues didn't happen I would say it's a 10/10 for productivity
What kind of bettery profile you use to get 7-8 hrs battery? I get solid 4 hours everytime and if it lasts lil over than that is a bonus. And the sound is pathetic must have been little louder I feel. 🫤
@@kxrxnnn haven't had any issues with this device except for the fingerprint scanner which is a hit or miss(but this Is not unique to this device, laptop biometrics in general are like this). do i recommend this to you, if you can adjust to MacOS, go for M1 MacBook air cause a lot of my friends at university have this and they don't have to carry a charger to the library which is so convenient as the battery life is still very good on those. if you cannot adjust to MacOS or want an absolutely wonderful screen(MBA screen is good but nothing compared to this), you can go with this device without any hesitation as this is overall a very good device only and only if the battery life was better
if you have 72k to spend i would suggest you to go for the asus zenbook 13 OLED 2021 model. eventho it's one yr old that's a pretty good laptop and worth for the money tbh
Bro the blink issue is due to Intel's graphics software... It switches profile from performance to turbo which causes black screen 😂😂😂 it's annoying so I've uninstalled it 😂😂😂 luv ur videos bro ❤️❤️ big fan ❤️❤️
Everything was good ,but but but they should have given a dedicated graphics like GTX 1660 or 1650 at this 65-75 k budget 😅🫥🫠 They can make compromise in ram maybe 8gb instead of 16
I'd say even some gaming laptops do quite good if entering the price range of 65k+ Stuff like HP Pavilion Gaming, Lenovo IdeaPad also do a quite clean job
Someone who doesn't care about gaming, and is entering college, it's a steal deal considering the portability and the display quality. When it comes to battery life, one can go for s15 oled, sacrificing the higher resolution and refresh rate for the same price. I've been using s15 oled, and it can easily last me 7-8hrs on medium usage.

that is not blinking issue it is because of you had turned on hdr display and it turns on automatically when charger is plugged in and turned off automatically when on battery only so this is the reason screen goes black for a second everytime charger is plugged in. if it feels annoying then turn it off manually after watching video or gaming. there's no point of keeping hdr display option on while doing normal tasks
