This is the BEST Everyday Watch You Can Buy in 2021
What is the best everyday watch you can buy, right now? Well there's a lot of options at every price point, and there's no right answer, but I think I've found mine. Today we're looking at the Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra, comparing it to the likes of the Rolex Explorer, and some more affordable options such as the Hamilton Khaki Field and Seiko SARB033, and asking the question - is the Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra the best option going today?

I really love the Aqua Terra. I was contemplating buying one, but ended up with the Glob,aster instead. I was keen to get a light coloured dial. The Globemaster ended up in my collection. That's not to say an AT won't be joining at some point.

My father bought that Omega earlier this month, and it's been great so far. He's got a slightly bigger wrist than my 7-1/4" wrist, but I am not sure of the exact size. He tried on the 41mm, and felt it a bit sporty for what he was wanting. I think the 38 is a great size here. It's his first automatic since quartz became prevalent, and first "real" luxury watch.

Great video , love the music too. I have an 8 inch wrist, it’s a pain always adding and buying links. I have the omega aqua terra 41 mm white dial and orange second hand with the omega 8900 coaxial movement. Close to the perfect watch, super accurate and no waiting list. When I think of selling it , I ask myself what could replace it. Nothing.

Awesome review man, one thing I’m unsure about the omega AT blue dial is the fact that it can look light gray in certain lighting, I personally prefer a darker blue like midnight blue. But you display this watch in a very flattering setting that made me fell in love with the watch again

I own the exact AT. One thing not talked about with it cause many are too busy whining about no micro adjustment, is just how comfortable the watch wears on the wrist. I sleep with it all the time cause I simply forget I’m wearing it.

You simply can’t go wrong with it IMO. It’s just beautiful but also tough when needed. I’ve worn mine camping this year and took it paddle boarding multiple times along with hiking and fairly intense mountain biking. Sometimes it’s a brighter blue if lights hitting it, sometimes it’s a really subdued darker blue. I also purchased mine from exquisite 👍

Couldn't agree more. If they were to put some "on the fly," adjustment, as well as a more functional crown on this particular iteration, I believe they would have a winner. All of that being said, there is something very "timeless," about the Explorer. Great review as usual Guy. Thank you for all of your contributions to the hobby.

I have both Hamilton Khaki Field Auto 38mm and Aqua Terra 41mm blue dial. The last one is so comfortable and beautiful on the original blue rubber strap. In 41mm it also has quick hour set function which makes it very useful when traveling. One of my favorite watches. The only downside for me is stiff winding action. Which is partially explained by the double barrel movement, but still…
@JustBlueFish

Great video! I have been cross shopping these two as well lately. Unfortunately I found the AT’s dial to come off a little flat. After a long search, for the same stated reason I bought my self a 41mm version of Omega AT, blue dial with blue quarter numerical markers. Simply, it looks modern, fresh, classy, and it is robust at the same time. Sure, the case could have been thinner and lighter, and clasp of the bracelet could have microadjustments, but all summed up this watch fits all purposes, and despite the big case and mentioned bracelet, it still wears quite comfortable. Omega did a good work there.

@@JustBlueFish Also, regarding the accuracy, on the wrist it is a perfect 0 s/d, but in dial up position, during the first 24h static it is around +2 s/d, but after the second barrel depletes, the rate goes up around +7 s/d in the last 37 hours of power reserve (total on my piece is 67+ hours). Thus, if you do not wear Aqua Terra on a daily basis, the accuracy will not be exceptional (still it is far from bad), unless you cheat with the crown down resting position, which is ca. -3 s/d when the power reserve gets on lower end.

She love it and we have good welcome service from Omega AD every time we visit. Hope one day maybe in 5-10 years if Rolex hype down and we can buy from AD i will buy Explorer I for her again. @@JustBlueFish I tried one on, the 36mm blue dial. I have to say it looked and felt like a Date just. I would say it's the Black Bay 58 of the Explorer 36mm. A more sporty youthful watch. I also have an issue with the explorer, it just doesn’t look right on mu wrist ( measured the 39mm version) maybe its the unexciting design or the flat bezel. The oyster perpetual is much more elegant and interesting in design even if it is simple I think the domed bezel might have something to do with it. I agree with all the aquaterra critique listed here and add to it : the polished center-links Not enough taper on the bracelet The movement fitted in the 38mm should have been the 8900, as in the previous generation both aquaterra sizes housed the same 8500calibre which is basically similar to the 8900 in size and specs. I ended up buying the globemastter 39 on bracelet. Also has its issues , but altogether a good watch and offers the best legibility out there in any angle and any lighting condition.

I got the exact AT since may and it is awesome. I like that it is a little bit shiny and I also got a relatively good fit on my 6.7 inch wrist. As far as the Sarb goes (I own the 035) I think there is nothing wrong with it being a perfect GADA watch. It is not perfect but for its original price (if you were lucky enough to snag one) it is perfect. I actually enjoy the bracelet as well. The only catch is as watch people, we often crave something a bit higher luxury for our GADA watch just because. But if this was before the watch bug bit me (I use to have just 3 watches, mix of Bulova and Citizen) it would have easily been all the watch I would ever need.

Great review. I too have been flirting with this watch. The only thing that holds me back is the abundance of shiny reflective surfaces. I like the high polished surfaces on the case, but the polished center links, hands and indices make this watch come across like a glitter bomb. That said, I’ve only seen this model at the AD, where dozens of overhead point-source track lights tend to make everything look like glitter. Aside from the hands, do you find this watch is still on the shinier side of the spectrum in real-world lighting? Basically, I’m trying to avoid buying a watch that looks like a mirror ball on my wrist.

The Explorer 36mm is the best sweet spot all around watch. Even if it has a 19mm lug width. Rolex are meant to be worn on a bracelet. It was meant to be, it was fate, and I would be foolish to pass this opportunity up again. I'm a little off on my savings, and a credit card, but happy. I'll deal with the wife's wrath soon, but she knows this is my grail LOL. I feel like I don't need another watch. I'm good with my Speedy Pro, IWC Mark XVIII, Seiko Turtle black dial, custom bezel. I was so close to getting a JLC Polaris Automatic black dial. Then later on down the line I was planning to get an Explorer 36mm 114270. The Explorer is the one I wanted since the mid 90's. I just never had the money to afford one. I'm good for now and probably for a long time. There are a few pre-owned watches on my wish list though... Sub 2 line pre-ceramic, JLC Polaris auto, JLC Reverso large small seconds, However, if anything it will be a tough decision between any of these, or it might be a last minute unexpected deal. These things are so freaking expensive even when you find a great price or you save for a year or two....

I have been really looking at this watch for quite some time and still not sure about which color is best. Black seems to be the most classic and can go with everything. Green is unique and definitely very cool but I’m not sure it will go with everything. Blue is stunning, but I think legibility is not as good as the black. What are your thoughts from anybody who actually owns this watch?
@benh715
@benh715 Год назад
I have black. I think it’s the most versatile. The blue is beautiful and I’d have been very tempted to go with that if I had dressier watches in my collection. For me, the coloured faces are just a bit more sporty/casual. Black goes in any situation.

To me, the 38mm AT wears no larger than the new 36mm 124270. I think the dial on the Omega is smaller and the watch is chunkier, which causes it to wear small.
@JustBlueFish

Have to disagree on that. The Explorer wears much smaller from my experience/opinion. Not necessarily a bad thing just depends on what you’re looking for.

38mm Aquaterra has too many cons for me unfortunately: 19mm lugs, polished middle links, polished (scratch magnet) bezel, no quick adjust. For a perfect GADA watch for this much money, it shouldn’t have these faults. Movement is great though.

I got my blue AT38 from exquisite time pieces earlier this year. Great transaction. I can even get a good enough fit on the bracelet. But dang it, those hands needs more paint/lume. At least once a day I can't read the darned thing. And that little annoyance does it in for me. A real sports watch should be readable all the time.

I also have an omega 300m that I love but I have the blue bezel silver dial version and it’s on the blue rubber. I don’t think it’s as versatile. I’d like to get the factory braclet for it but I’m pretty sure it’s 1k or more just for the bracelet. It would be a lot less blue as well as “dressier”

@philo2197 2 года назад
Mine was the larger model with the blue seconds hand though but many things I suppose. The bracelet on practically all Omega’s are cheap feeling along with the clasp seeming more like an afterthought. The bracelet doesn’t taper. Trying to use the crown to wind and set it was ridiculous. I felt like I was going to break it each time I need to unscrew the crown and pull it out to set it. Although, a friend of mine that has owned various models of Omega watches said he had the same issue with his crowns as well. So maybe it’s normal for Omega watches.
