I’ve been building my base here. Used the zip line to send logs down since I didn’t know of any glitches yet. Only creepy thing so far was babies spawned here once, and yes, the lake freezes in the winter.

Yea multiple ways to start building there. Zilpines (can send logs along them), Waiting till Winter allows you to build on the water freely and you can build a rope bridge like he showed.

Right next to the island right above the waterfall is a great spot too. Is set on a flat ledge so you really only need to defend two of the four sides and don't need to worry about the water freezing over.

Without reading about Base-Locations this was the Place i choosed to build too. My Problem is that after some time Kelvin got stuck under Water running in circles. :/

I waited for winter and stacked up an insane amount of logs before that, during winter I carried them over, it was a lot of work lol. And for the bridge, I built a small platform on the ice in between the island and the rocks and connected 2 rope bridges to both ends. During spring, the little platform on the water didn't break or anything. So that's also a way to do it. Though, since you can builld on ice, you can basically make a fort on the water.

I like the big peninsula thats right on the other side of the island opposite of your bridge. I just started building there and its easy to wall off. Much larger building area too.

there is a different bug. Cut the log in 4 pieces then stack them. Then grab another log any try to place it next to the stacked logs. It will try to place but fail producing a new log plus keep the one your holding. If you hold 2 logs it will dupe 2 as well. This was on multiplayer so not sure if it works on single.

a tip for the brigde, you dont need to build htat lookout tower, if you build the wall on the main land side, a couple of feet to the right, and place the logs uprite as close to the endge as possible, and same on the island side, the rope barely makes it, theres a youtuber called partially royal that i saw do it like that saves a whole lot of logs

Now that I see all these base videos popping up that build on this exact island I'm kind of proud of myself that I figured everything for my base on that island out on my own lol, the only thing I wish I learned sooner is the log duplication glitch, I only saw that in a video when I was almost done with the base, I threw most of my logs from the mainland into the lake and picked them up on the island again...yeah, took me A LOT of time since my house is raised on support logs like in this video, two stories high and the whole island has a defensive wall around it for winter time when the lake freezes and the enemies can get across...idk how many logs I used, but Steam gave me the "City Planner" achievement that you get when you build a structure with more than 1000 logs, so all in all I definitely wasted a lot of time with this lmao.

Follow the river down to the bay that has the survival raft. That large bay has a huge area that is ankle to knee deep, it's the PERFECT place to build because the cannibals won't go into the water. Furthermore, the ocean bay does not freeze in the winter so you will enjoy water barrier protection even in the depths of winter.

The main issue there is food access and the distance to resources....so my gaming buddy and I moved our base to the lake. So far (two winters) no cannibals have spawned there.

when i lived on there there were 2 times where that worm mutant thing with the long body has somehow got on the island and another time a bunch of babies got on it

You can also dupe logs by building a frame onto a rock, then attempting to place a log next to one of the pillars. You start by placing a log vertically on a rock, then placing another vertical long 1 log distance away, then connecting the 2 with a horizontal log. If you then attempt to place a log on the outer side of a pillar it will just fall down & won't use the log in your hand. This method is so fast that you need multiple people for it. One person duping, and another one or two who just pick the logs up and move them out of the dupers way. With this method, my buddies and I managed to dupe hundreds of logs in just 10 minutes.

Discovered this exact island too and winter froze the lake so we've been carting logs across the ice, no problem. Only problem I've found is that during the winter, there's no running water. The closest source is down the waterfall.

It's nice scenery but the best water-base purely focused on protection would be in the shallows over the ocean. I've wanted to find the best river mouth to build close to so it would be good for log floating/driving to base, but the way logs and waterfalls are kinda hinders effectiveness at the moment; guess it's gonna be ziplines(what I don't dupe). Can't wait to see dev progression and the eventual mods.

I am currently building here. I found the best dup glitch you youtube using the shelter. Its so fast. you can get hundreds of logs in minutes. put these two videos together and you got an amazing base very quickly

There is an other exploit. When you build a Palisade... im not sure, how to recreate that .. but sometimes you cant place a log next to a half log palisade.. and it will create a log out of nothing ... and as long as you dont place a halflog next to it, it will copy the log in your hand allways you place it

Its not the only island, and the water freezes in winter on lakes if the host/builder leaves the immediate area during winter. Also, you can build on iced lakes in winter, and it'll "float" after the ice melts, allowing you to continue building onto the platform you placed on the ice.

Ice cavern is good place to build. just add doors. Also cliffs near sea. canibals just fall down, mutants same. I tried build on this lake but cannot make bridge, only zipline, + canibals can go over ice in winter.

Top tip, we built our base here a couple days ago, you just wait for the winter and then build across the ice and when the ice melts the structures stay.

There's a few islands on the opposite side of the map where you normally start, turtles spawn and they lay eggs you can eat too, infinite food :) there's about 3 islands out in the ocean, the water doesn't freeze too

You can build a base on any lake by waiting for it to freeze. Just make sure to make a climbing rope to get on it when the ice melts. Completely safe when the ice melts.

I couldn't build a lookout tower IN the water, so what I did was build 2 lookout towers on each side of the river on the very last pixel of each edge with the lookout parts hanging over the water then I built a log staircase up to them so I could brings logs up to the top build a rope bridge from one lookout tower to the other. To get to the top of the tower on the island I had to chuck the logs in the water then push them while mashing the pick up button to move them lol

The best spot is in the south-west of the island on the bottom of a waterfall were are some stones on wich you can place some logs to build a "small" base. In the winter the water around it will not freez

when log glitching put them on sloped ground (vertically with the slope) and hit them from the side after you stick em. This will usually prevent the duped log from glitching into the ground.

theres a better way to do a log glitch takes a little more setup but its much quicker. cut 2 quarter lenght logs. Line them up and use a log to span between them. make a ramp on one side with full flooring. on the side you would like to dupe place a 3rd slanted log to make a 90* corner. finally place a vertical post on the same side as your 90* corner at the top of the ramp using a log. once this is placed your duper is set up. position yourself in the corner with a log in hand and spam place logs down while crouched

use 2 Logs , one sloped and hold C and you get log after Log, there's a couple ways, from a video B4 this one but i like the island Base cuz yes mutants, especially OL Roly-Poly if its really close to to it chases you half way cross the map on open ground, and you know our buddy Kev will stand there some times so you have to go back to save him.

Be aware that babies like to spawn on that island when you build on it and even groups of cannibals have spawned there, even when we build over the whole island and had a barricade around it. Babies spawn under the logs on the ground. the cannibals usually spawn near the bridge/s you build. Have seen other people have the same problem, with only using zip lines. Otherwise is is a good location to build. They usually spawn when you leave the island and come back to it, but we had that they spawn when you reload the safe as well.

Anyone else unable to get Kelvin to come across the bridge? I even tried adding planks so he could walk up the steps and onto the bridge but he just keeps walking next to it on the ground instead or getting himself stuck underneath it

I built here originally but had issues where Kelvin would get stuck on the island when it wasn't ice. Also had the big club mutant teleporting to the island several times.

I was building a wall of logs and hit a rock, as I was crouched and placing the log next to the rock I was able to spawn logs infinitely really fast. Maybe test this method out if you’re interested and see if you can replicate it.

I had all types of cannibals and mutants spawn there occasionally, weirdly enough they would even spawn on roofs and glitch through floors. Sometimes Virginia would spawn on the island and then she would get stuck there. I really hate that location

This is definitely not the safest place tu build a Base. The safest Place is in the Ocean (especially the flat beach near the guy with the pistol in the ocean). Why? Because the ocean doesn’t freeze in the winter just like that lake

You can actually build offshore. Zombies won't go in the water and the water doesn't freeze in winter. You only have to deal with them getting supplies but you can build in peace ✌️ 😌

I thought I was going to be original and I built on that island the first day. Didn't know about the log glitch though. Didn't realize the lake freezes over so I had to build a defensive wall all around it. Also the Worm mutant can still get onto the island... :(
