Season 4 of Diablo 4 has been a massive success, the overhauls to affixes, gearing, crafting, and the addition of new endgame systems and content, has kept players in this season for much longer than previous season, but there's still some issues. Overall a very good season, but this particular issue makes doing one of the new endgame systems, much less enjoyable.

The hard-core players don't seem to mind. 1 shot mechanics exist in nearly every arpg. It's just a skill issue

The hardcore players do not experience getting one shot that’s why there’s so many things new players aren’t doing when copying a guide. They also are doing content they shouldn’t be with there current gear. For example certain breakpoints need to be met. These new players aren’t resetting there masterworks like they should be and they are using gear with bad tempers. Also they are running around with 40k life instead of 70k +

As a former nado druid, your problem is half that the bosses are poorly designed and half that druid’s survivability depends on debilitating roar which you can’t keep up 100% on bosses with no adds, and also do nothing to reduce the damage from echos.

I can't get behind anyone who says the Pit is well designed. You kill the same packs in the same 4 maps. No variation in mechanics whatsoever. The only challenge is scaling life and damage which is the most boring, unimaginative shit I've ever endured. The Pits are trash.

I’m enjoying the season without even playing the pit. Leveling up finally feels good, the change to the codex, helltides were not good before now there’s a reason to do them. I’ve also had no desire to farm boss mats or any other resource I’ve been able to get most everything I need just by playing the game. I don’t feel like it’s a grind and I think that’s what people wanted was just to have fun and feel powerful without feeling like they had to spend hours and hours farming for stuff. More buffs and less grind is going to be the key to success people want to have powerful characters without it being a second job.

The reason the pit is so hard this season is because they are already thinking about season 5+. Keep in mind, we don't have any seasonal mechanic to buff our characters except holy bolts. If the pit was tuned for us to get to pit 200 this season, they would have to play with the balance every season after this, or people would complain about being too easy. Especially in later seasons

that's right, although barb and necro don't feel the bad design so much because the barb has a single target, it's hard to die from 1 hit - you're tanky and you have great healing, necro hits from a relatively safe distance it has single target and immunity also makes it easier. in the current design, Aoe builds such as Flurry Pulverize Whirlwind blood Nova make no sense, and these skills would benefit from some effects when they hit bosses

Yep, they need to do something about this. I do love the Idea of the Pit and the fact that you will reach a level where you can’t go any further but I did notice a massive difference in Pit bosses depending on which one you get. Also most of the time I can’t do damage to the boss himself because 80 percent of the time I am dancing with the Shadows

I absolutely agree with you. People are making excuses for such a poorly designed boss fight. I don't understand why someone would play this game to keep dodging because defenses simply won't work. It's okay to be challenging no one is asking it not to be. But it's simply unenjoyable and boring to have mechanics that bypass everything you've done to reduce incoming damage

Aren’t bosses supposed to be the hardest part of a level? I agree the game suffers from screen clutter and a lack of visual clarity at times, these can and should be improved, no question but you might need to look at your build if you are struggling in these early tiers of the pit? It is the current end game, you need to build into it. And yes RNG will play a part, just like D3 where you “fished” for a good rift, here the combination of boss and its shades can vary the difficulty. But the progress seems fine, you get the first currency from the first tier, masterwork up and should be ok to then farm the next tier for the next upgrade. Then repeat. Even a mediocre build should be able to farm the 3rd tier to complete your master working. Everything beyond that is min maxing to taste. If you are struggling with any of the steps before that then I’m sorry to say it’s probably a build/skill issue.

A death recap would be so usefull. A lot of times i just instantly die and i have no clue what is killing me. How im supposed to learn about that if i dont know what kills me :/

But to be clear, the shades do not one shot. It's just that at higher tiers the damage often exceeds our defences. We can definitely spec to tank the shades. My barb can power through every boss/shade damage at tier 94 provided my buffs are up. But then I'm at the mercy of cooldowns. And I fear at some point, I will have to go more on defense and sacrifice damage thus, clear time.

@@claytonmontague4837the boss fights? For me I play d4 for d4, not dark souls. Which means loot and grind. When I get max out gear with a proper build, I expect to steamroll the appropriate enemies. Dodging one shots is not fun for me because I grinded hard enough that nothing should one shot. I suppose I should learn to gitgud. But then my reward is crafting materials.

Boss fighting in the Pit are the pinnacle of Blizzard incompetence. Slack some things togheter without a real tought, completely ignore the player feedback and call the day

Those shades hit like trucks, and most times you can't see them, because of all the shit on the screen.

As a casual player I agree that there should be a level that I cannot go over, the pits need to be too hard for me, that is good. But I agree, the difference between the trash and the boss level means that either the first section is boring easy, or the boss 1 shots you, there is no "appropriately challenging" level to play. Further more, the helltide rewards makes pits a waste of time for gearing runs, except you have to farm mats in the pits to upgrade your items. It is an absolute chore to farm mats in the pits because of the poor design. And you cannot get your push build to run pits if you don't farm a bunch of mats in boring mode. Really poor design, I expected more from Blizzard. It also seems like the d4 team is not allowed to think about or talk to the d3 team because so many of the features that have carried d3 for almost 10 years is not in the game yet. These pit issues were solved in d3 more than 5 years ago... It's not hard to design it right the 1st time...

Pit bosses ruined this entire season for me. Spending dozens of hours making a build that works, is tough and clears levels in minutes, then the boss.. One shot kill mechanics are cheap and NOT fun. Its lazy.

Why should you need to be able to do pit 200 in season 4? WHILE also having a shit build for bossing? This is definitely not the biggest problem of season 4, just spec for the content if you wanna push higher

the fact that you are struggling on tier 60 pits is insane. i was destroying these on my wind shear druid with no masterworking at all and not optimized gear. i think its a skill issue man sorry...

Pretty shit takes. Not reaching the end of the Pit is why the game is even remotely exciting. If we could all do pit 200, it would be just like previous seasons and would kill out every creativity in the game and builds. Having an actual impossible challenge that is not time gated inspired people to make SUPPORT META. Builds on the other hand could have some more single target damage though. Oneshot mechanics should not exist either.

Yeh they have removed the ability to get excited about loot because everything is more than likely vendor trash in just a few clicks. It actually removed the importance of loot in a lot of ways and loaded it all into tempering and luck. I've stopped thinking in terms of good or bad loot, just stats that vaguely hit a build requirement then roll the dice at the casino, I mean blacksmith.

You are not wrong but it is much better than before. I much rather have it this way. You can brick items but at least you have some sort of input and control in crafting what you need for your build. Im not saying it perfect but it is better than before

There're some small barely invisible grey tornadoes which explode when they reach you. It's very hard to see. Pit 80 has one tornado at a time. Pit 90+ can have 2 tornadoes simultaneously.

Tempering and masterworking r garbage af and should be changed... Sick of gambling really good gear and not getting what i want after spending mats and gold on it... Jist let me make my gear the way i want.

I also think it would be much better if they just designed 5-10 bosses maybe reuse some campaing bosses. And make them pit bosses. Remove randomness. Make it more predictable... and no "shadow of whatever"

I think temper bricking, aspect drop rate bugs and the amount of gold we need/receive is a much bigger issue than complaining about boss health of 100+ pit pushes. Considering you can get all the mats you need for max masterwoking from 70+ pits theres actually no reason to go past 100 in the pits other than to say you can. All the other issues i mentioned should be addressed instead IMO.

I have no issue with the pit bosses, I actually like it, the game had to have something hard for end game, my issue is them wasting my whole day run bricking all my gear in fkn tempering it's so annoying, they need to make like pit boss tier 100 or something that can reset tempering or something, that can be a challenging, but just bricking my gear like that and wasting my time and making it useless sucks ASS...

Its a good season only because the other ones were absolutely terrible. This one actually improved the game drastically, I would said it made it from a 1/10 game to 1.5/10 game

In Diablo 3, you could tell immediately if your build was good enough for the Greater Rift you entered. You didn’t waste time clearing the whole thing just to find out you couldn’t beat the boss. The problem with Diablo 4 is the system isn’t designed well. You can destroy a Pit but then hit a brick wall against the boss. Upon entering a Pit, you should know instantly whether or not you can take on that level.

Don't make pit easier, just make it make sense. I don't mind only being able to reach level 90, I don't like the feeling of getting destroyed by something I can't reasonably avoid. A boss fight with one shot mechanics is fine, T4 Julra for instance, being absolutely powerless to avoid them is not okay.

One shots need to go. Put a debuff mechanic like the torment bosses. Tempering, at minimum, needs to have the ability to keep previous stat just like enchanting. I'd like to see additional rolls per greater affix and/or some way to reset tempering.

My biggest problem with the game in general is there are “meta” builds for each class. Which means there’s only 1 build per class that will work with endgame content. They really need to change that so ALL builds of any kind will work. I have a lvl 100 Sorc n I can barely beat the boss at the end of the Pit…..on lvl 1! That’s insane! Oh….& the new bosses now 1-shot you. That’s not good either. I don’t even do the Pit or any bosses now. It’s not worth the effort.

don't worry, the dlc will add 5 unique items, it's already boring for me, they have to come up with something that will keep the players playing the dlc, poor crafting alone won't keep the players playing diablo 4, not everyone enjoys creating a new character every day and breaking the record to lvl 100 like rax,the game lacks basics auction house, more items, the tree is a joke after all One week everyone runs the same build, paragons are the worst system I've ever seen in games.I think they can be praised for something, but it's already a year after the premiere and we have to ask for everything, the character balance is 5 light years away from what it should be, in POE, if something is broken, the developer fixes it immediately, and here Helltide is already broken for a month and no one cares. I hope we see a major boss rework in the next couple of seasons. I had a much more detailed conversation piece, but I am unwilling to retype it because youtube doesn't value engagement on videos apparently, and I was typing towards the end of your video and it sent me away from the page deleting what I had written. It's happened several times, I have auto play off and everything, there's absolutely no reason why it should be stopping my typing of a comment, it never used to, but as of like a month or two ago it's fucked up so many comment's it's not even funny. Sorry for the language, I'm just getting frustrated.

Everything said in this video is true. The pit bosses are the limiting factor to fun. At lower levels, it's manageable and kinda satisfying to beat the bosses. At higher tiers, it becomes so much of a chore. I changed my unorthodox but fun build to a Bash build specifically because the boss has too much health. If it was just the boss, I can maybe have the patience to fight through the massive HP. But with the shade bosses dealing most of the damage it's just too much. I can only imagine but is this how Dark souls feel like? I had to switch to a high damage but personally boring build just to progress. And as melee, it has to be kill the boss quick so the shades and floor effects don't get out of control. I'm at tier 94 and I have to fish the boss+shade combo. That crossbow bandit one of the worst because he can hide and is essentially invulnerable. Same with the werewolf. The other bosses are tankier but they do less damage. The shaman boss hits the hardest but is the most squishy. The lilith shades are the worst. If I get a shade of lilith, I already consider rerunning.

I really don’t see much of an issue with the pit tiers being so far out of reach… I think it’s a great idea to have such a huge gap between what’s possible and what’s not because lefts face it if the pit only went to tier 100 people would be crying about it.. but it goes well past that. The idea is to see how far people can go. How far can you take these builds.. there should never be a checkered flag 🏁 because then you don’t have anything to fight for anymore. Make the pit go to level 300. Atleast we know there is harder and harder content waiting we just have to figure it out…

Hey cry some more and they will change it… how about you learn how to dodge some of the hits and not just stay and fight the boss in the middle and not move at all? Those 1shot mechanics are slow enough for even slower player to move. True.. the color of them is somewhat not visible, they should tune it a little, but otherwise pit is great. Thats the challenge an endgame system should have. So stop crying and work on your character if you wanna do higher pits, if not thats fine too go farm 70lv pits and get your masterwork materials

Agreed many of the pit boss mechanics are horrible. Sometimes theres just stuff literally everywhere and much of it can one or two shot you. That and gold. Gold sucks hard. There's never enough to continue crafting at the end game.

Imagine me playing harcore I'm scary to go over 100 pit just because the bosses have trillion of health that makes all this 1 shot mechanics rotate 10 times per fight 1 little mistake and bye bye. 1 shot mechanics are for me in any game cheap way to make harder content without proper mechanics

I hear you, but that fight is one of the few things I look forward to in this game everything you just said is an issue is something I like I have to figure out how to not get hit by. I do thing the shade damage should never one shot you.

I don't mind the randomness of the boss',l or their extreme life, it's all the one shot mechanics that exist.

Yes. The bosses are boring since Season 3 already. Many have speak up about this. The community wants either, and/or, more variety of monsters in each factions and more boss types. Is it that hard to create these two, assuming they have hundreds of, if not, thousands of programmers.

True the pit boss are incredibly hard I am at level 58 with my rogue and barely left with 3 minutes on the timer after finish only way I made it because I had 90k life

Humm, playing a druid. Not good for this season. You should try the barb bash, bleed or Necro minions, the boss at the end of pit are way easer when you do over 100 millions of damages per hit 😊 For me, the pit or uber bosses are not a problem. The major problem is bricking items with 5 tries tempering 😢 without reset!

agreed! pit is fun. pit bosses generally are not. love your videos! personally, I got tired of the bad boss design in the pit, and stopped playing s4. I got super lucky on my first 4 or 5 lvl 200 boss kills and got shako, grandfather, and then crafted a starless, and then randomly a Tyrael's Might dropped for me in a NM Dungeon too, so I have all those ubers. Which is cool, except that the pit sucks, so none of this gear is really all that useful to me. I decided I'll take another shot at S4 after the mid-season balance patch, which I presume is still a couple weeks away, I think? Hoping for changes in the mid-season patch. But not too hopeful that anything will change before then. I'm back over on WoW now, working on my retail characters again until they fix up D4 to be better balanced. It's just so lame that the pit is TONS OF FUN until you hit the boss room, then it's an un-fun nightmare of one-shots and a brick wall of boss HP to chew through. It's just too much, and I'm talking about pit runs at the like tier 70-80 range, not even HIGH pit runs, just high enough to get some decent neathiron.

I had to get my barbs health to 100k just to tank the shades in the pit, and honestly they spawn way too often
