Maybe you guys are familiar with all this and I just don't know you well enough to tell, but I feel I should try to clarify the scientific position on evolution, because the other side tends to misrepresent it for the purpose of argument. Either way, cheers if you make it through my long-winded comments! lol The "humans from monkeys" thing isn't an accurate representation of our evolutionary path. Monkeys are more like our cousins rather than our great great great great grandparents. Somewhere way back there's a common ancestor that diverged into separate paths that eventually became us and monkeys. (along with most or all of the other primates, I'd guess) Evolution isn't really a mechanism, or a thing, it's a description of the process that determines results. It's part behavior, part genetics, part circumstances. We shouldn't describe it as, "organism A evolved a prehensile tail so it could be safer in the trees", but as, "an inheritable genetic mutation happened to result in a favorable survival advantage, in this case, a prehensile tail" (or whatever). At that point you have two organisms that are virtually the same, but one happens to pass along an unusually useful tail that it and it's offspring figure out how to employ to some measure of success. There's plenty of times where something had a favorable mutation but then died before it could reproduce. Most of the time, however, mutations aren't useful, and either don't do anything of note, or are detrimental. The bad ones tend to fade out over time, unless you're humans and you're really good at figuring out how to get around nature's limitations. You can see it's effects in humanity's lifespan alone. People are much bigger in general these days, taller and bulkier, because we have steady access to food. This isn't really an evolutionary advantage, but it does allow for different effects from genetic variance than a small frame would allow. You can also see it in all the domestication and selective-trait breeding we've done for thousands of years. Horses in the middle ages were much smaller than some of their modern counterparts. Dogs have a huge variety of genetic breeds thanks to our intervention. Before this, nature and chance determined all of evolution. Now sure, one could try to argue that all these dog breeds are still technically dogs, (or canids, I'd assume). But, keep in mind, this is only selection pressure over thousands of years, not millions (and ultimately, a few billion, if you start at the beginning).

I love your guys' reactions and an explanation for why there's still monkeys and they don't just evolve into humans is because humans didn't evolve from monkeys technically. Monkeys and humans just come from the same ancestor we just evolved in different directions. The monkey-like ancestor had some of itself evolve into monkeys and the rest of itself evolve into early humans. I don't actually know too much of the exact science because I'm just taking information from videos and stuff on the subject, but that's basically it. An easy way to think about it is that evolution isn't a singular line, but more like a family tree that branches off; It can make things that are similar and that share the same basepoint, but they are on their own branches. (I just saw that someone else already left a comment of this lol sorry for this long winded comment that's basically the same as another comment)

The thing about whether or not they would mention slavery or how they would do it just made me think about the fact that every time they showed a land being conquered by another land slavery was usually involved. Do you think Genghis Khan didn't take slaves? Or China or India or all of these other nations as they were going back and forth? Im not offended, but let me clarify your knowledge on Jesus. The Hebrews or "Jews" were one group of people existing on Earth, they weren't the only ones. The Torah or the old testament of the Bible, is about the Hebrews and their history, which is the lineage that Jesus came from. On the Natural Jesus is a man born from a woman, on the spiritual side he's God son, as in God wanting to redeem his people. In short there are rules that God himself created that he won't break and chose to come to Earth in human form to show the people who God (the father) is. Jesus is (God the son), the Holy Spirit is the same. Just like we in our human bodies have a physical body, we also have a spiritual body and soul on the inside, 3 in 1. --Anyway most of the Hebrews didn't believe and that's why they killed him, which is what they needed to do anyway, you'll understand that part once you understand their customs. The word about Jesus didn't begin getting popular until his disciples started preaching in different countries and showing evidence through miracles and healings. So yes at that time, most of the people didn't recognize him as God and just thought he was some dude but more was revealed after.

Evolution is really not that trippy if you teach yourself the basics. You don’t need to dive too deep into the technical stuff to realize that it makes perfect sense within the context of what the world is like now, especially if you can wrap your head around just how long 4.5 billion years actually is.

Evolution is not complicated when you get to grasp the concept of millions of years of continuous genetic mutations. Human beings appear on earth about 200 thousand years ago. All the history and pre history of humans can fit 5 times in a million years, the multiply that for 66 million years. And that is the time since most of dinosaurs went extinct to the human beings appearing on earth. Is a huge amount of time, we are incapable of trying to understanding it because we live a few years. But in abstract it makes sense.
