Who sits around waiting for a delivery once the roof is stripped? Straight to work. A shingle lift works fine. You're going to have to spread them around up there regardless.
@@skipads5141 Or you can stop being a dipshit that feels like he has to prove himself and save your body in the long run. No one is looking at you and thinking "Damn that's one tough badass guy carrying those shingles up the ladder by himself!"
@@KraveSanity: 🤦🤦🤦 You *SPREAD* them across the roof. See, you got the key word; you just don't know what it means. You don't have to move them. (Don't pile up the weight either; that's dumb.) They are in a convenient spot to grab them. *SPREAD* don't cluster them all where you'll have to move them. I am not by a long shot the only one who knows to have a supply for different work areas. People figure out supply depots a long, long time ago.
I do this for a living used to make 14 an hr all that takes is strength. Roofing is the hard part because of the back staying in the same spot. Carry on lads
My first job ever at 19 was laying shingles.. I tried carrying one bundle once my legs felt like toothpicks and to top it off we smoked a little bud while up there never again.. The more I live the less dangerous stuff I want to do
Yep. My boss bought a chevy 3500 truck with shingle elevator lifesaver to a extent a pair still have to load it while the rest catch and carry across roof
I see so many comments like: "just get it delivered with a boom lift." Some people don't understand if you're busy and constantly have business, sometimes you have no choice but to let the shingles get delivered on time. That might be a day or two before you can make it to that house. Although if you gonna do roofing all the time, I highly recommend investing in a ladder lift. Helps your back in the long run! Every now and then you might have to hoist one up there like a grunt. Part of the job. 🤷🏻♂️ if you cant handle that then honestly you shouldn't be a roofer. So many sissies hating in the comment's about bro carrying up a bundle. 😂😂😂 regardless if you get em boom lifted its still one of the hardest if not the hardest and damn sure hottest job in construction.
These are big crews too... people acting like carrying up 12 bundles in a day is the end of the world, absolute fucking nancies love to see the malarkey vistas btw, one of the best shingles around
Been there done that. Also be wary of rotten spots on the roof deck. In my laboring days I was trying to be tough carrying 2 bundles like a dumass and my leg went right though, glad I didn't break it lol
It's really nice yeah but some days you just can't get the access (I work for a small company, three guys) and we also have a broken hoist back at the shop so free exercise it is lol
Better than any gym membership. But its for the young and strong. Being the only one fully capable of going up and down the ladder with a bundle consistently was a bitter sweet revelation.
Yeah man good on you, if you do it for a living like myself you are ripped by the end of the season lol, Maybe not so good for my back down the road haha
Lol, just one bundle up the ladder?? Try extending the ladder a bit more and do 2 bundles. Try carrying rolls of modified, or full 60 gallon propane tanks on your shoulder going up 5 flights of scaffolding in one go. Or carrying a 12'x100' roll of TPO on shoulders with two other guys of different heights. Or pitch tearoffs.
In our family we move people out of their home and in italy most of the houses don't have built in fornitures (like kitchens) as most of the american ones, so yep i understand the fatigue and pain for our poor backs xD
Just don’t work for shorty companies that don’t care about the guys health and well being it only cost 200 bucks for a pulley if u really wanna be cheap or 1000 for a ladder that’s automatic
I still do roofing but i used to smoke dabs all day and roof just fine until one roof we had with a bad and slippy pitch....i wont even look at weed before roofing now 😭😂 Side note: my buddy meowed at me because he said i looked like a giant cat sliding down the roof to my imbending doom!!!
The phrase," work smarter, not harder.", mysteriously comes to mind for some odd reason. Company too cheap to invest in a hoist to decrease work hazzard for their roofers says alot about the company.
Try loading tile, we used to pitch a stack of 3 off the boom and have it ready to put down ready to lay. These guys are suckers, asphalt isn't nothing compared to tile, hey laborer clear that debris and make damn sure your ladder is tied down.
The tiles have been delived on a pallet, to the ground? Might need to find a better truck driver who understands where the roofing supplies are required. (hint: it's not on the ground 😬)
Este paisita está chingon This company is probably the cheapest Of the area Paisa que está subiendo el material Necesita estar ganando $400.00 Al día o quizás $500.00 Si deja que lo suban los ruferos Oh el dueño de compañía
All you wanna-be roofers scoffing at not having a hoist never got paid right. My guys all get paid per job and make plenty of money to hire one, but never do. They rather split the money in the crew and hand load. Not everyone is a cry baby.
If they got paid so well, they'd wouldn't feel the need to wanna share an extra 150 bucks amongst themselves and risk hurting their backs. Pure BS. Eventually these guys will break and be out like an old truck. Unless you don't believe trucks break down. 13 year roofer and still pushing here. Treat your guys like humans.
@@6ixkingyolo269 150? Your math aint mathin my man. 2 guys load and they split $1000 since that's what it costs per roof here for loading service. We also do 80% clay tile roofs for mansions in the 50-130 square range so my guys look at 30sq shingle jobs as bitch work. They won't load a tile roof by hand, it will actually beak you at 1100lbs/square
@kencraig7308 yep. We run it from a telehandler across the roof in pattern. They just refuse to walk tile bundles up a ladder, which i can't blame them.
