This is the HARDEST SEKIRO BOSS so far and I'm scared 

HIGHLY recommend beating that enemy you couldn’t beat earlier. You get an extremely good item after defeating him.

Spoiler free tips for you Jev (ur doing great & just wanna show appreciation). 1) Almost everything in the game can be parried. Once u nailed the timings & mikiri windows it’s significantly easier. 2) Get your hands on the Umbrella Shinobi tool ASAP. It has spirit & fire upgrades that are super handy against certain enemies. 3) The only time it’s safer to dodge rather than parry is against giant monsters (you’ll know what I mean eventually). 4) Get all the upgrades in the skill trees boosting healing & posture. Actual godsends. 5) Ichimonji is best used after a jump since the wind up time is long asf. *I wish you & your blood pressure good luck, goated RU-vidr*

mikiri counter is specifically for thrusting, so you could mikir counter that purple shinobis kick ability, the jumping on peoples heads is only viable when they do kind of a "ground kick", you know like they duck and kick (like in mortal kombat), or they swing their swords around specifically areound your legs and not your torso Its kinda hard to describe but after you see it one time, youre gonna know what i mean

Jev, listen. I’ve put over 300 hours into this game. I am going to HIGHLY recommend you unlock chasing slice ASAP and imo it’s the BEST art in the game. When paired with the Shuriken you can clear an ungodly amount of distance basically instantly making keeping aggression 10x easier.

Jev i would recommend you to not spam block as much trying to get a parry because it will affect your playstyle later on the game like owl fight, Its better just to deflect when its gonna hit you

The red symbol is for grab attacks, thrusts, and sweeps. You jump up and off of the enemy whenever they sweep, you mikiri counter when they thrust, and you dodge when it's a grab attack. That one hard dude you fought was doing thrust attacks with his kicks, I found it weird the first time, too, because I didn't know what kind of move it was.

A lot of good tips in the comments. One thing about the Dragon Rot. If it gets too outta control it will not let you be able to talk to most NPCs then cutting you out of some stuff. Home girl will give you a Dragon Tear and you can buy/find them. But there is only so many per playthrough.

Hey Jev love the videos One quick tip The axe is a very solid prosthetic to use for posture damage and to help with shield enemies It can be situational however it is a very solid one to go with Plus upgrades to your character will benefit the tool as well You’re the best bro!

Bad thing about becoming unable to die is every time you die you give someone dragon rot.

Heres another tip, keep the pressure on. There are a lot of enemies that are SO much easier if you just block, and swing when you can, and not back off.

Every time I see those purple shinobi dudes charge that kick I always spam the run button to pull off that mikiri🤣

The reason people are telling you to save the scales is because there's a side quest later on that you choose between pot people and something happens to whoever you choose/ give the most scales too. (edit: you can run past the purple dude for the item in the shrine and i recommend getting used to him you'll fight a lot of them)

btw jev tip for handling those purple shinobi and all future shinobi: you CAN mikiri counter that kick attack where they do a few attacks at you then kick you with the red attack.

I mentioned in a previous comment on a different video, try out all the Shinobi Tools. They can be really powerful depending on how you use it. That's why they cost spirit emblems. If they didn't, it would be pretty busted. I also mentioned that you should try to find the Umbrella Tool. Explore around Ashina Castle and eventually you'll run into a building with a hole in the roof. Go down and you'll find the merchant that has is. The game is only gonna get harder from here. So I implore you to use everything you got. Also, some Shinobi Arts have long start up animations, so unlocking the skill that lets you use them in mid-air is a good idea. Good luck. Edit: the reason why you can jump over certain attacks whenever the red symbol comes up, is because it's not a sweeping attack. You can only jump over and jump on the enemy during sweeping attacks. Also, the purple enemies that do a thrusting lick, you can Mikiri Counter them.

When you’re deflecting audio plays a huge part of knowing when you can attack and knowing when to stop, people call sekiro a rhythm game for a reason, when an enemy deflects your attack rather than blocking it makes a different sound and you want to stop attacking when they deflect, if they just block then you can keep attacking.

Hey Jev! jumping on peoples heads only works when it’s a sweep, mikiri counter works only when it’s any type of thrust attack, like the kick attack that was giving you so much trouble. Hope this helps! Also please make this a series this game is so underrated but is so good and worth playing all the way through. You might think the final boss is the hardest boss in all of the souls games, just like I did!

4:39 Just a word of warning that you actually don't get enough exp in the first playthrough to unlock everything. You get a lot of exp in the first half of your playthrough, but start getting a lot less later on. It's to incentivize you to play new game+, where the exp gains will pick up again once you start that.

If you want a really cool counter to sweeps you can use the senpou leaping kicks. I used it for variety my last playthrough and it is actually really good. It's better I think than just jumping on their head it does great stance damage and as I said it is just really cool to throw some kicks in your combo's

The purple ninja can be mikiri countered and jumped on. When he does the sweep attack jump then jump again to kick off their head it deals a lot of posture damage, and when he goes to do his kick after the combo wait until the red emblem appears then press the mikiri counter button. Hey Jev, Awesome to see youre enjoying Sekiro! Later in the game make sure you chose to FORSAKE your father Owl otherwise you will get the objectively bad ending. Forsaking Owl lets you fight Ishin as Sword Saint Ishin which is in my opinion harder than Melania. Good luck!

Ace is my fav, usually my first lapis tool, high high posture dmg and a quick charge too. Very nice and easy to get in the sword combos as well. Definitely a favorite.

Purple ninjas are tough, but you had the right idea of jumping over the sweeps and countering their thrust kick!! You’ll get used to fighting them later on tho for sure

Mikiri counter when the purple guy winds up his kick after the many kicks combo if he does a sweep kick (the animation is very different he kinda slides across the ground) than you do the jump and goomba stomp you were talking about this is true for basically all sweeps in the game

ISSHIN WILL KICK YOUR ASS, and man to man inner father is the hardest boss in the whole game, not regular father but the gauntlet version which has a completely new moveset compared to father (owl). And I’d love to see you give him a shot before the series ends. “Yes he’s harder than demon of hatred, doh is easy with the fire shield

The purple guy(lone shadow) is a high-tier late-game enemy. You can face him later once you get more hp and attack power. He is likely stronger than the early bosses. He has a kick combo attack the last kick(kanji warning) can be Mikiri countered as it counts as a "thrust". When he does a jump-down attack move usually that is followed by a sweep(kanji warning) in that case jump and jump again on him so you kick his head. Kicking head deals very low(12.5% of an R1 sword) vitality damage but a ton of posture damage but only IF used as a counter to sweep attacks. Some combat arts also have jumps in their moves and can be used to counter sweeps. Later lone shadows can summon dogs or use poison attack moves too. Lone shadows also have sub-boss variants. So a good idea to learn their moves. This one also guards an Important item.

Day 9 of letting Jev know about the extra bosses in the chalice dungeons on Bloodborne, that he's never beaten and hopefully never even seen.

The reason you keep missing the ninja counter is you’re moving your left stick .. hands of the left stick when his about to kick u and mikiri him. Those ninja characters are the apex of high risk, high reward in the game.

A friend of mine makes a decently popular mod for this game called Sekiro: Resurrection if you do end up wanting to try out something more with this game's fighting mechanics afterwards I highly recommend it!

Jev if you see that red Kanji pop up and it doesn't look like a thrust it's most likely a sweep you can jump over it and hit the jump button again to bounce off there heads for really good posture damage
