The first of three animatics from the Jekyll and Hyde Musical featuring Dr Pinkie as Dr Henry Jekyll.
THIS IS THE FINISHED PRODUCT, we have no interest in fully animating this. That's a lot of work and Silhouette hasn't the patience to animate.
Completed by InkPotts Creations, consisting of:
Silhouette, who did the drawings, and GhostQuill who video edited.
"This is the Moment" is from the "Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde Musical", performed by Anthony Warlow on the Complete Work concept album, released in 1994 under the subtitle "The Gothic Musical Thriller: The Complete Work". We do not own it.
My Little Pony Friendship is Magic and it's characters are owned by Hasbro. We also don't own it.
This was for fun. Also don't do drugs, it never ends wells, and Pinkie knows this only too well...

This song is a good example of the difference between tone and mood, because Doctor Henry Jekyll's tone in this uplifting, happy, and hopeful, but to those in the audience who know what happens next, it creates (in me at least) a sad, heartbreaking mood, because we know that all his hopes and dreams are about to not only be crushed, but twisted beyond recognition.

You know what's really good about this song? Not only does it set up the irony of what Jekyll unleashes, but the song can actually fit a scene where someone actually does triumphant.

It sounds triumphant but if you listen to some of the lyrics (like "made it on my own" and "sit forever with the gods") it touches upon the areas where Jekyll's pride will eventually cause his downfall (not telling anyone about hyde, trying to get the original formula to work rather than looking for a cure, etc). It's little touches like these that make the soundtrack sound so wonderful and really polishes Jekyll's character.

Well, he kind of deserved it more in the book; there he deliberately set about making a potion to separate his good and evil side so he can indulge in certain temptations without restraint of law or conscience. Well... he got what he asked for. Except it only separated his evil side, it didn't make a good side, just Jekyll and his evil side.

Shadi Afifi Also without restraints and self control his evil side can do whatever the hell he wants and desires. Because without Jekyll’s fear, doubt sense of goodwill, and morale in his soul, Hyde can truly feel alive living with no restrictions stopping him from doing what he desires most without having a second thought. And most of all Hyde’s fierce ambition is the main drive for him so as long Jekyll lives his vile side can live forever free inside him.

Not long ago I paraded for my final time as an Australian Air Force Cadet. It was the annual graduation parade, and as WOFF Banner Party and DI for the day's practice, and our flight wasn't looking too sharp. I started singing this with a few changes so it was directed at the cadets. It took them a while to recover fom the shock of their flight sergeant singing on the parade square, but not long after they all began to sing along. I honestly didn't expect it to work, but they began to stay in step with each other. They weren't marching 116BPM as I'd hoped, but they were finally working as a team. This song turned a mob of inexperienced and awkward teenagers into the best parade of cadets I've had the opportunity to instruct. It was enough to make me shed liquid pride. Music can do amazing things when given a voice, and none more so than a song as inspiring as this.

Great work on this one too! I'm totally in love with "Alive" and "Confrontation" and listening to nothing but the Jekyll and Hyde musical ever since I saw your videos (Anthony Warlow truly is a genius!). It'd be a blast to see a video for "Transformation" or "The World Has Gone Insane". It makes me kinda sad that you guys only made three videos for Jekyll and Hyde. Anyways, I'm looking forward to your future work! Especially the last parts of "The Count of Monte Cristo" :)

This song belongs to the musical Jekyll & Hyde, based on the novel by Robert Louis Stevenson. Both share the basis of their plots (in case you are not familiar neither with the book): Doctor Henry Jekyll devises a serum that splits a good person from his darkest side (in the novel he devised it just to purify his person and indulge in being morally free while in the musical it is to bring his father back from a coma, which he thinks was caused by the evil in his soul). Unfortunately for Jekyll the serum does split his mind in two independent beings: moral Doctor Henry Jekyll and the savage Edward Hyde, and both personalities start to fight to have the control over the same body... but for different goals. "This is the moment" is from the part when Jekyll has finally created the serum, but has no idea which effects it might have on humans, so as a brilliant XIX scientist he has decided to test it on himself and "damn all the odds", confident that his success is granted.
