Pairing the Litigator (Dumble inspired model from Ben Adrian) and Matchless DC30 which are independently two of my favourite amps in the Helix, yielded a really organic, touch sensitive tone that I wanted to share.
This preset is called "MatchLit"

This is by far the best tone I've heard In the helix. Its everything I need for Mayer/Clapton feels which I've been looking for for ages. Something that isn't too aggressive. Your patches are the best patches I've bought on the internet hands down. LOVE THIS. Thank you so much!!

I really enjoy seeing how quickly and easily you can dial in Presets on the HX Stomp unit itself. It inspired me to learn how to do it as well, instead of always relying on HX Edit. It makes it feel much more like I'm dialing in individual stomp boxes. Thanks 😎

No matter what guitar, no matter what amp in the Helix you always adjust everything in the same direction without noticing and always end up with exactly the same sound which is also an art. Do not misunderstand, I love your sound over everything you are my role model sound, it is just so struck me

Thanks for these videos! Really helps with learning out how to dial this thing in and not wasting time on the less-than-stellar amp models. I really just bought the stomp for a good pedal platform and a decent high gain metal amp, which I found in the Badonk

Amazing tones, still learning the curve, coming from Axe-FX II and II, i found the stomp xl quite useful for mobility. I love the way you play, specially those beautiful chords in the end of EJ style runs. You should consider giving a course on Truefire on how to build these chords, integrating them on lead runs. Thank you so much for all the great insights into HX Stomp tone shaping.

The Grammatico GSG is the finest amp in the Helix to date, in my opinion. I am incredibly impressed with this model. From clean to dirty, it is outstanding.

Have you tried the dhyana drive/Zen drive through the Vox style amps on helix? Bit of a revelation for me this week. Perfect match for a Vox imo. I'm still struggling to dial in something with "nice" touch sensitivity though. I recently moved from an AC30 to a Victory Copper V4 power amp and, while it sounds great, you can really hear the difference in the power stage. An all-valve power stage gives you that touch-sensitive feeling of power under your fingers that I've struggled to get with other setups. Not sure if it's something you'd hear on a recording but you can feel it when you play.

how are you connecting the hx?? it sounds so good even with the just the amp block alone. i couldnt get my hx to sound like that. (gtr -> hx stomp -> studio monitors) this is my setup

It helps that Cordy is an amazing player and puts some of the tone you're hearing into it with his dynamic playing. Also the answer is usually EQ which most people newer to modeling underestimate. You should really be utilizing high/low cuts on the cab block (I like my high cut between 6.8-8khz typically). Also understanding the mics in the cab block helps a ton as you quickly realize that mic selection is basically like picking an EQ filter as well, so the ribbon mics like R121 have a darker tone and Dynamic 57 have a brighter tone. Shifting the mic position away from the cone darkens it as well as shifting to the 45 degree angle option, so you really have to play around with mic settings to dial in a usable tone. The final tip I have is something John doesn't do a ton of, but I find that adding a compressor after the amp with light settings can help it feel a little more realistic, depending on the amp.

@@jorgemartinez42069 im referring to minute 7 where theres only amp+cab blocks in, no other effects. i downloaded his preset.i have 2 HS7s plugged into the hx output. set both input and output to line level and they dont sound as good as they do on the video.

@@walangpakealam The thing about presets is that they will never sound the same unless you are using all of the exact same gear. Guitar pickups change tone and output levels pretty drastically, and having different output levels from the guitar makes the amp model (or real amps even) respond differently. Then your speakers also have different EQ if they are different from what John uses. You will need to try and use your ear to match gain and EQ settings unfortunately.
