I'm brazilian and I know France. In LGBTQ+ rights Brazil has more than France but I think that the public opinion french people are less homophobic than brazilians. In big cities it's more acceptable but not too much in the countryside but the situation is getting better. I think Brazil is more friendly than Mexico

I think the Turkish person is from central Anatolia, where people are more conservative, because we surely are not religious in the west, north, and some parts of the south. Turkey is actually one of the least religious Muslim-majority countries in the world. Our state is secular, and this is something that is protected by law. You won't face any legal issues being lgbtq+ here, especially since the new generation and some millennials are accepting. I've never had an odd reaction from someone under 40 about being gay.

Spain is super lgbtq friendly in 2005 gay marriage legalised and I saw gay couples kissing in the street in 2006 which I never saw in UK!

Here a Turkish from capital city of Turkey, Ankara. We are not too religious, but i can say that we are a religious country - atheist here - . And a militarist country. any person who is from any Balkan country will understand me. There were some times of The republic of Turkey that ruled by militarist party, secular party, and as you know now we are ruled by religious party unfortunately. But in none of this times LGBTİ is thought to be as normal thing. İf you are gay, even if u are masculine one, you are not accepted as a man and same think for lesbians too. İ dont even talk about transsexual persons think that what they are facing with in public. İt really breaks my heart. İ support them. But i dont support prides. Especially the İstanbul pride. They are really toxic. What makes them toxic is -again- us. We dont defend their rights. İ hope one day we get rid of this idiots, and everybody lives as they wish❤️

as a brazilian, i can say that brazil and mexico are really similar when it comes to acceptance towards the lgbtq+ community. it is a latin american thing maybe? idk, im not sure. but we have a lot in common culturally speaking and i guess that's why i feel that the two countries are really similar!

I think many Mexicans are gay friendly, open minded, relaxed about the topic, and also that there are many openly gay people. Of course homophobia still exist there, because of wrong religious beliefs maybe, and of course because of machismo. But, you can watching characters on TV channels more than before, and gay couples on the street, or talk about gay subject more naturally than before. About what the Mexican guy said about Puebla city being one of the most homophobic cities in the country, I desagree. On the contrary, I think people from Guanajuato State are the most conservative in terms of acceptance of sexual diversity.. However, in that state there are also openly gay men, as there are gays in the closet in Mexico City and homophobia.

in Serbia LGBT have strange position, not so accepted as in France, Germany or Nordic Europe, same sex marriage is not legal, there are laws giving equality which are not always followed, prime minister is openly lesbian in relationship with other woman with whom has a baby... chaos is our middle name :)

Gay marriage is legal in the US but with our right wing politics and SCOTUS I'm not sure what the future holds.

I was in Germany last year. I visited about 20 cities and in all of them, I saw more rainbow flags than German flags. Argentina was among the first countries to have gay marriage (before France). Also, Uruguay and Colombia are gay-friendly.

I would place Brazil in front of Mexico in this regard. Mexico is a bit more conservative than Brazil from my experience and there's no city gayer than Rio.

In the past couple of years I traveled a lot in Mexico in cities like Guadalajara and Puebla and I saw no problems for gay people. I think that it's like the US - more accepted in big cities but not accepted in small towns or rural areas.

I'm Dutch, I think we would be par with France, or maybe somewhat above France. I think Brazil should be second instead of Mexico, there are almost no gayer cities in the world than Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro! And hopefully, when Bolsonaro is gone, things will be better for Brazil. All cool guests by the way! I'm happy that Stacey is now living in a country where she can be herself, but it would of course be much better if her home country would not be so conservative.

Brazil has changed a lot in the last ten years. We even have ads with lgbt couples on the open TV. It's getting pretty common. I also see a lot of people of the same sex holding hands in the streets. (Ps: I often travel between the north and northeast of the country and these regions are pretty far from Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro). I know things here are not perfect, but they are getting better. I also think Brazil should've stayed in front of Mexico in that line.

I'm a Brazilian man, from North of Brazil (Belém-PA). I’m not gay, but I don’t agree with the Brazilian of the video. This was Brazil 20 or 30 years ago. Now I think the society accepted and normalised gay relationships. One of my best friend is gay, and I was in his wedding. We see gay couple everywhere in the streets, TV, internet, etc. I think the situation in Brazil is a lot, but a lot better than the rest of Latin America.

Here in Greece, this matter is ....interesting... I belong to the LGBTQ myself and to be honest I have never been attacked or insulted by the people I came out to. Especially the people from 40 and under don't mind. Even in the villages, since my family is from one and my cousins and aunt are fine with it and their friends too. In university also everyone was more than ok with it as well. BUT... also coming from a very Christianic family, my parents' friends can be very homophobic and make harsh jokes, because they don't know about me. If they did, though, they wouldn't say something. Not to my face. Most likely they would feel sad for my parents, but that's all. Same in my job in a christianic magazine (because I have to work and that's the best I found ironically), they literally told me not to draw manga because they have "silly things like gays". So as a punishment I draw manga characters in them in more cartoon style and they don't even know~ And someone would ask why do I still work there, but I find more amusing to have the homophobes pay and praise a LGBTQ person's job than lose my job because of their bigotry. After all they are all just words but harmless. In addition to many places in the world, even if there is homophobia, it's rarely if ever dangerous. Those people are like dogs that bark too loudly but don't dare to bite. Incidents of violence might happen, but they are the exception, not the canon. If only I got all guys to realize changing me is not possible that would be great because many of them don't grasp the concept and hit on me anyway even if they know. But oh well, at least they don't attack me or try to physically force me to change. So I am grateful, as it could be worse.

This was a really good vid. I think it’s helpful to see the range in treatment as well as how some of the countries evolved so far, because like the French man said, we can forget how lucky we are sometimes. Here in the US it’s probably about the same as France on this scale, and even so there’s still so much work to be done to improve. It’s scary though to see how bad things still are on the harsher end of this country range shown here. I hope globally we all improve and become safer for everyone.

I'm Brazilian and personally I don't have nothing against it. Although I see this as something individual and obviously not as an opinion of a homogeneous group, as someone would like to preach. Homosexuality or heterosexuality is restricted to the person and only to him and both must be respected, as long as there is no overlap between one and the other.

What's interesting about this lineup is that most of the 'least' countries got their homophobia through colonialism and Western influences, while France, the 'least,' was one of the countries that partook in said colonialism. In general, most countries with marriage equality are in Europe, but they only progressed after causing regression elsewhere. P.S. despite the prevalent machismo culture, literally every Latin American guy I've met has implied that most Latino guys have a clear bisexual streak. Would anyone care to explain why?

UK and I live in Spain both countries very gay friendly and I have never witnessed any negativity from the people. There are gay bars and areas in both.

I’m a gay American and I’d put my country maybe one spot above or below France. We have homophobes here, but I only really hear from them online. When I came out I had no issues at all with anyone. I know some people that didn’t have a great coming out experience, but most people were very sympathetic of their situations and were willing to get them help. This is why I’ve never felt the need to go to a pride parade or anything like that, I’m very satisfied with how I’m treated in my country.
