Nice map. You did a good job adding new gimics to each screen despite being limited to what the game already does. It's nice seeing games like this is the only level get some recognition outside of flash game communities.
Thank you ☺️ I had to revisit the original series for ideas (and also to figure out how to best bring the gimmick to Celeste), some of the rooms are directly inspired by the games, while some others are indeed unique to what Celeste has!
This is an insane feat of creativity, to be able to come up with this many unique variants of a single room just with the limited mechanics of Celeste! Awesome work! (Also amazing dialogue!)
this looks really fun and i love all the dialogue between madeline and theo edit it looks really fun besides room 19 and 20 23 just looks bothersome but not too bad aww that ending bit was wholesome
if you smuggle the jelly from room 26 over the barrier to room 30, and then get the heart boost, then there are like 20 more rooms, meant for the silver. At the end, theo says, "is that a silver strawberry you have there?"
Thank you! I'm glad you liked it. ☺ Gotta be honest, that could be an idea for the future. I will just say, however, that there is a Farewell-inspired room somewhere in the level, but you'll have to prove yourself worthy first!
This is such a cool idea! Makes me think of This is the Only Level, which I'm assuming this map is referencing. The dialogue is cute too and fits perfectly with both Celeste's and This is the Only Level's humor. xD
Yes, that's exactly what I'm referencing! I reviewed all three games made by jmtb02 for inspiration, then came up with my own selection of variants adapted for Celeste's mechanics.
(Spoilers) I could be wrong since I haven’t done it myself, but I believe the map is actually 2x as long but the second half can only be played if you have the silverberry (judging by the dialogue, I’m not skilled enough to do it) or if you use debug mode. The “first” ending rooms is actually just really long as well and leads to said extra rooms but without insane speed that probably isn’t realistic at all theres no way somebody could make the jump.
I could tell you whether your guess is correct, or not. Whichever you prefer :D But anyway, I hope it's not as feasible as it sounds in theory to get there without the berry :P cannot really complain if it is though.
Imagine an actual "Anarchy" mod for Celeste which let's a hundred people play on the same map at the same time, and you could see how far each person is progressing.
"Madeline, come on. The Matrix is like. The most trans piece of mainstream media this side of Celeste. Written and directed by two trans sisters. How have you not seen it."
I'm glad you liked it! It's a great satisfaction knowing that an already awesome game concept was transferred to a completely different one effectively!
aaand this is further tempting me to buy celeste on pc so i can start playing modded instead of being only able to play unmodded celeste... though i would probably hook up a remote to my pc so i can use the controls i am used to :)
Close enough! I was actually drawing my reference from the This Is The Only Level games by jmtb02 :) but That Level Again is based on the exact same concept.
@@Evil_Maddie I used to play the This Is The Only Level games so that was my primary inspiration. But I also have played That Level Again and obviously the core gameplay/concept is the same! So yeah, I believe TITOR as a map can be seen as a nod to both :D
You mean First Steps by Lena Raine? That would be correct, I did my own version of it. This particular rendition also uses another track of Celeste's OST as guidance. Can anybody guess which is it?
There is no room(but this one.) Wonder if there is something hidden beyond the heart though. Seems you might be able to wavedash and jump off it for some serious distance. Hearts are bouncy~
Buah! Me encantaria jugarlo en mi consola. Me encantó el detalle de "estoy ayudando" de Theo haciendo referencia a una frase que dice en el juego original.
That name rings a bell in my head. I must have played it and then forgot about it. Well, I know what I'll be doing then! EDIT: okay, checked it out. I see the similarity now! Thanks for bringing that up!
Okay lol this might be a running joke in the community but when I looked into the comment section I couldn't believe how many people love the dialogs. I'd gladly erase Theo from this map because his dialogs are annoying and don't give anything but artificially extend playthrough time. Would be really cool to get all the references on your own without his help. If I'm just woooooshed then no sorry, I don't know since when Theo became a hate object but I'd gladly join the club. The map itself is really really cool, I've got nothing bad from the design, gameplay, innovation, anarchy and soundtrack standpoints.
Fair enough of a point 🙈 that was actually an interesting one to read. The map itself is playable without Theo's hints - except perhaps Room 25 with its coloured switches puzzle which would be 100% trial and error without that little movie reference. I also imagine some other rooms would be more obscure if you had absolutely no hints, but then again the original This Is The Only Level series didn't hold your hand at all and had you guess the solutions... but the again (pt.2) this is not TITOL 👀 Thanks for your input! If you don't mind me asking I have a question: is it dialogs in the map that you'd rather do away with, or just Theo (and Theo's)?
@@NoeleVeerod thanks for asking! Well, I'm in general against useless dialogs in mods. If there's a story then sure, even a joke is fine (for example in one of the dadbod mega collabs there was a map where Madeline and Badeline were bored so they decided to "play a game" and that was cool haha). I don't like the constant "Hmm this looks weird/I'm scared/ help me" nonsense. I mean yeah so what, just let me play already. I don't like monologues too, for example "Hey this is a comfy place yay" types of messages. These tend to be hidden and very short, but for some reason I'd like those messages to be absent, because I know and I see they are comfy, let me sit there without your comments about it. But I'm just so against Theo honestly haha. I dislike him as a character and every time I see him mid-playthrough I wanna insta skip the dialog. I imagine him being an Instagram douchebag that posts crappy pranks and gets ton of views. Heck, he even nitpicks Madeline in this mod for not watching the matrix, like get a life bro. I don't respect the sounds he makes while talking and I dislike to babysit him when he's in a crystal too. "This room looks impossible" bro just stfu. So to sum everything up, at the beginning/ending it's ok if there's some kind of a story (even involving Theo if used correctly, and the story can be the simplest ever), maybe a couple of necessary messages/funny jokes during the map. But if it's just the most generic banter talk that doesn't affect nothing but my time then I'll pass.
I downloaded the entire Collab just to play this level, but I can't figure out how to get "beyond" iykwim, is the silver strawberry mandatory to get the rest?
I want a refund, you can go left at the start and get to ANOTHER ROOM! And the anarchy collab itself, THE ENTIRE THING IS IN A CASTLE! What kind of false advertising is this? How can I play something like this? I want my $0 back
It's called "First Steps... Again" and it's a little remix I made of the original by Lena Raine. It's available on my RU-vid channel and also on my SoundCloud! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1BZ1CuANDY8.html
This is Celeste, an indie platform game about climbing a mountain (and facing your inner self). Controls are simple and easy to get used to, but the gameplay itself quickly becomes challenging. The game on PC also boasts an active, sprawling modding community - and this map is one of many examples of that! The game is available for 20€, but it often goes on sale (and, very likely, it will go on sale soon again at the Winter Sale) so if you're interested you can grab it for very cheap.
@@koishem8051 which literally nobody cares about. Everyone is just enjoying the map and having a chill time, meanwhile you are so fragile and easily upset by someone else dying in a videogame (and you yourself just told me so) that you had to go out of your way looking like a hater just so the world now knows how fragile and easily upset you are. I mean, okay?
@@NoeleVeerod Can't stay silent when the dude is so bad he can't complete an easy chapter without dying once, or at least cut out the death like a normal person would do
