The reason I haven't started crabbing yet this season is because of the amount of work that still needs to be done. I have over 1000 crab pots that need to be painted, crab line buoys that need to be built, and a trailer that needs fixing. I'm only a few short weeks away from dropping crab pots, but there is still a ton that needs to be done!

Sad that even up there some jerks are trying to get rid of new crabbers. I’m in Alabama and my uncle wanted to just crab as a retired old man. He had 20 pots maybe. His buoys got cut and lost all his pots. Who does stuff like that? People think they own the water. Good for you keeping those messages as a reminder to keep doing what you do. You’re a huge success. And God definitely will deal with them. Hopefully their hearts will change. Oh I was so happy that your wife brought you coffee. She’s a good woman. You are definitely blessed. @@KelseyDrummer it really took the wind outta his sails. He just wanted to get enough for a backyard boil with friends. Fear really messes with people. Those commercial guys must feel a lot of pressure to make money. Obviously there’s a lot of cost in it as well. Who knows. I recently had my own moment of fear regarding $15 and being petty about it. I’m smacking myself now because I really was all about fear and not trusting God. Oh well. Glad I’m feeling convicted and will watch out for that greedy monster inside me. 🙏🏻

Regs are limiting seasons left and right. Climate change (whether you think it is man made or not) is really leading to yield problems when combined with all of their other pressures. Overfishing, pollution, sediment run off in the case of the Chesaepeke, etc. We had one of the lowest spawns of Strippers ever so they shut down the charters and commercial is in the future. As something like only 50% of fish caught from commercial end up on a plate.

I stopped fishing and went to work doing "repo" commercial fishing vessels and taking them back up to Seattle Washington. Easy way to put the tire back on that type of axles is leave 2 bolts with the keepers in close to each other but loose them hang the tire. As for tightening them the best way I’ve found is when you look at it the spokes make a “v” tighten those 2 first and directly below the “v” tighten it first then the last 2 bolts. Those types of axles are used for mobile homes

Hi Luke , nice show of backbone ! F the haters and carry on regardless , when you pack the bearings , wipe the grease in from the wide side to the thinner side , so in the same direction as the rollers point and if you don't get grease all over you will see it come out from under the cage at the narrow end when that portion is packed so rotate a few degrees and wipe it till it comes out the other end, about a heaped tablespoon of grease should be enough for the inside of the bearing. Don't know if anyone has said or not, if so over look it. That axle set up is what is known as dayton hubs. Dayton hubs are stronger, but scare a lot of people off since they can be dangerous since tires do fall off if stuff isn't checked. But perfect for what you need. That being said an old farmers trick of tightening them up, sit a drink can on the ground at the bottom sidewall edge of the tire and spin it and slowly tighten the lugs all the way around. If it hits you have one side further out and it will wobble going down the road.

Luke you need to sell your crabs threw local CSA's. Community Supported Agriculture. CSA's are a great way to support your local small farmers while getting real, local food produced by people that don't hate you like the government does.

Try flow guard guard gold cpvc water pipe it has different binders in the plastic its less likely to shatter allowing it to bend without breaking

We used to build boat docks. The bottom was painted with aluminum oxide primer then covered in cold tar. We painted the top with Imron until the EPA made that stuff illegal (with good reason).

On the grease cap on the trailer wheel I recommend adding grease in the cap that way keeps little extra grease in there

So although I 100% approve of your bearing packing method, I seem to be compelled to tell you how to do something .. lol. The bearing cap should be filled with grease. This is handy in the off chance the bearing heats up for some absurd reason, the heat will melt the grease and it will run into the the actual bearing before it disintegrates and the flaming wheel rolls off into woods and causes a forest fire or burns someone’s house down. (Disclaimer I was never there and have a solid alibi)

I cant speak for everyone but if u have to take a break from YT to support the crabbing I'd completely be fine with it and will support ya. I Think it would be interesting to watch a complete livestream of u out crabbing , that way u dont have to worry about editing and it can just be you doing ur life and job , u can also dual stream it on twitch or facebook whatever u like

I’m not a crab fisherman or really a fisherman generally lol but instead of pvc for the floats, try using the back poly irrigation tubing. It’s flexible and will bend instead of cracking. You can get it in purple too so it adds a little flare while being more impact resistant. 👍
