Wow she's a beauty, but I live in CA where we are heavily taxed and very high prices like $5.00 for diesel still in May 8th and drive a 96 Ford 350 with a 7.3 baby.
"You're like a blister, you show up after the work is done." Your comment to Gunner was hilarious! He's a very nice young man and at some point should become a huge help with the business. Great to see the family involved. Excellent video, super work. Be well, be safe!
Mack sounds good. All that is done for repairs astounds me - Bill's your knowledge is a huge financial outlay saver. Gunner is growing into a nice young lad.
I was going to say put the liner in the freezer but that thing went in great Mike, that was easier than I thought! It’s nice to see a hands-on equipment owner/ operator Mike! You work on everything yourself brother, braver than me! lol I’m just a shade tree mechanic! lol 😂 Looks good Mike, grear job! Thanks for sharing Mike, Kirk from Louisiana! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👌🏻👌🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Not so bad when there was a storm outside. Would have been a day in the shop anyway. Doesn’t feel so wasted now, although the parts never come cheap, this was a good example for doing your own maintanance. Exactly what my father did with his truck, I helped him out a lot.
I think I've met Bill before. I used to deliver propane for UPG and had a delivery there by the gas station. An older gentleman came and let me into the lot where I needed to fill the tank. This was a few years ago.
It's been a long time since I worked on a Mack engine internals. We had a 74 R model that we had to keep rebuilding the turbocharger because the driver wouldn't idle it before shutting down. It had 800,000 miles on it when it became a yard tractor. The only Macks we had engine trouble with were the newest ones with Cummins engines.
Man i love the way that puppy purrs. I did have an uncle that welded at Mack truck in Allentown but he passed many years ago as he has black lung from mining coal and welders lungs and well smoker as well.
Very smart sticking with what you were professionally trained in! Big difference in time on job when you know how to do the job already! Nice to see you reference the book also, never hurts to double check specs even if you were still at the stealrship 😊
Some people check liner protrusion by tightening down the liners with soft washers and bolts to mimic head bolt torque. I always respect anything you do Mike.
Mike I Worked thirty six yrs in a shop we overhauled cats cummins det. 671 6v92 8v92 we done it all tranmission road ranger to allison automatic diff .
That Mack engine is pretty much the same as the 855 Cummins with a few differences. I'm glad you're back up and running quickly and didn't cost you an arm and a leg to fix it.
Not sure if I’ve seen Bill on your channel before but he seems like a great resource, very knowledgeable. I also like that you listen to him wether it’s out of respect for his age or knowledge but it shows a good upbringing.
I have said it before, man that mack sounds good. Next for a new set of custom made stacks is the new dump truck! You and man behind the scenes may need to go into the custom exhaust business!
There are a few acceptable methods to measuring liner protrusion. You really should be using some fasteners to put clamping pressure down on the liner before measuring protrusion tho.
When you broke the head bolts loose, you should have broke them reverse of the tork sequence. When I was working for the city and working on their garbage trucks I made a puller for the cylinder liners out of a piece of one inch plate steel the leg's on a was long enough to allow the cylinder to come out about an inch past the standard puller.
Good torque wrench technique, I’ve seen so many people just slam a torque wrench down! Drives me crazy because you don’t get the correct value at all when you do that. How you did it is correct, to come up on it until it “clicks” then just because you typically do it one more time (and you really don’t need to or should not need to do that) but your like most people and do it a second time. I was taught how to do it while going through A&P training, if it’s correct for airplanes then I would imagine it’s good enough for your puppy!
Great 👍 watching putting engine back together mostly watching in here in UK 🇬🇧 scania daf volvo m.a.n trucking 🚚 + older Cummins cat engine bing worked on
I like Bill. The work was way more serious than with Aaron or Matt. Lol. Funny he was gonna get outside before the parts start flying! I missed what your connection to him was. Good video.
DP nice job, talking of which did you ever give us an update on your shop air dryer, it looks like the same one you installed with Jason a few years back so I guess all okay
I surmise Mack is NOT like John Deere that says you should replace the head bolts with new ones! Although according to the C&C videos, the torque procedure is the same! Most folks would not have attempted this BTW, which is another testament to your skill set and shop abilities! 👏🏽 👍🏼☺ P.S. Putting that piston up For Sale on E-Bay is a smart idea, maybe you can buy Bill a steak dinner now! 😂
can you tell farmer chris colorado past aright to repair bill for farmers so now they can get parts they need to fix there tractors there self i have seen you and chris talk about this
I was gonna call you on the EGT cable but you slipped that by me, so I've got one other gotcha,no time or mileage writing on the filters! so there! just saying "LOL" anyway love that ole mack
Hi I will probably never meet you and so not trying to inflate your ego (not implying you have an ego 🙃)but I must say you do work hard, and the help you get is top notch. The 2 senior helpers the very top, the junior helpers have a bit of catching up to do.👍🐝🌞
@@DirtPerfect Hi that’s ok it is never a problem giving praise were praise is due, hope you realised I was speaking of MBTS & Mr M when I say junior help. 🙃🌞👍 although they do try hard. 🌞🙃😃😂
