I alternate pick arpeggios. Why? Using directional, or, sweep picking to me is like a car with no brakes. Both are tools certainly though ive found i can hear the difference between those techniques and strict alternate picking. Also, alternate helps the fretting hands muscle memory. Lastly, using diff width picks affects hand synch, a 0.88mm on some days, 1.0 others, and 1.6mm on still others depending on the tone and feel i want.
I made the huge mistake of not getting the sextuplets with a click solid first. Dude is totally right about drilling that first. It makes all the difference in the world. Sweeping out of time totally sound like garbage and playing them faster to attempt to cover up slop is not going to help. Good advice.
