People commenting here and Nathan included, mentioning this should start $35k? You can go and build and order a 2-door Wrangler JL Sport for $34k including destination charges. Manual, no AC, doors with crank windows. Your dream is available right now. This should be $25k or less for me to consider. I got my JL two years ago for less than $30k, brand new, and again it’s still available below $35k MSRP.

Price a modern side by side and then look at how refined of a vehicle you are getting for that $25K.
@is6566
@is6566 6 месяцев назад
Side by side prices are also insane. Still the fact is that you can get a Wrangler that’s way more refined than this concept (or any side by side) for less than $35k. Some side by side are $35k and up. The fact that a Wrangler is same price or less with about $2k dealer profit included shows how much extra profit is baked into the SxS market.

@@spyder000069 side by sides are insane. You can get a Mahindra Roxor for $16k or so. It will probably be more reliable than anything Jeep has made in the last 30 years, but you've gotta jump through some hoops to make it road legal.
@TKCL

Love my Roxor, plus the fuel efficiency and torque of the diesel is amazing. I also have doors, heat and AC if needed. I agree Jeep, Toyota and others need to get smart and make an affordable, stripped down 4x4. They would sell like crazy, so many desire them. Not everyone needs touch screen dashes, sensors everywhere, power seats and all the other junk that makes vehicles so expensive today.

Now imagine what you could build yourself with $35K. This really makes me regret getting rid of 47 CJ2A that I had a total of around $6K in. I bought it with a SBC and Muncie M20 in front of the Dana 18 which also had an original Warn Overdrive. I added Saginaw steering, boxed the frame, installed 3.15:1 low range gearset, replaced all of the worn out leaf springs with SuperLift springs and shocks and put it on 35" tires. Upgraded to cooling system and rewired the whole thing. It did everything that I ever asked of it and never left me stranded.

A decent transmission is $3500, $7500 for an engine, $6000+ for axles, tires & wheels at a minimum of $3,500 & then there's suspension, shocks lights, wiring, body, etc IF one can do ALL the labor himself. I love the shortcut. Basically you’re looking at a road legal ATV like side by side. Compact dimensions, relatively light and nimble. Take an entry Jeep sport, offer the half doors with soft top, remove rear seat and put retro white Jeep wagon wheels on it, in the smaller size say, 33 inch or smaller. And keep the sticker price under $35,000 with shipping.

All jeeps should stay solid axle. Many of us still want good axles that take big tires, we still want lockers, the option to be able to go into super low gear and crawl and then everything else be basic. Manual would be great. All while still being able to be road worthy. I think many of us are over the plastic bs and the fact every auto manufacturer wants to make it look like a space ship. (Not jeep but everyone else. ) not all of us want to spend 70k on a vehicle to keep up with the neighbors.

That with a skinny set of non-directional tires with the spare mounted on the outside passenger side of the tub. Brings back those late 40's and 50's Jeep look. I do dig the look and think it's a fantastic look and idea. Which means the fun police would ruin it. However I also see where production would be very different. Such as the roll over bars connecting the windshield to the rear bar would be there due to crash standards. Couldn't have that short of a non-crumple zone for crash safety. Fuel filler inside the passenger area? No go. No 3 point seat belt? No go. Which is a real shame.

IF they could do a production model of this, and keep it as mechanical(diy fixable) as possible and keep the price UNDER 30,000 they would definitely take a bite out of Roxor. The beauty of the idea of the Roxor is simply, its simplicity. Lockers, yes... manual, yes... (The Roxor offers both). Indie suspension, nice but, not as rugged as one might want this lil beast to be, should it grow up into a production model. Roxor, again, solid axles. Jeep may hate the idea but, if they wanna beat Roxor at three own game, their gonna have to borrow a couple pages from Roxor's playbook, then add their own unique plays, while sticking to the restrictions enforced by the tiny footprint. Put all tha together, and cap it off with street legal pedigree... it'd be a BIG WINNER.

Roxor already has the market for this size model. A Roxor has even completed the Rubicon trail from start to finish. Sit down now.... There is a guy in Tucson Arizona that will cut a Jeep to this size. He has been doing it for years. Jeep has no intention on bring this to market. California regulations being one of many reasons. The other reason..... Forn after listening to customer feedback, may well redesign the basic baby Bronco to have the same capabilities as a Jeep JK.

I would need a top and doors for me to buy it. Obviously I’d take them off sometimes, but I’d want this as a daily

They should do this with trucks, cars, vans and everything. Simply make a vehicle with no extra BS tech. Just get in and drive. Make it affordable.

Looks like fiberglass. Needs a Cummins 3.3 liter in it. Btw the dealers will be tacking on $30,000 to the msrp.

It looks great and is a cool idea, problem is most people need a vehicle that is more versatile for daily use, and having multiple cars isn't an option for many. I don't see this selling well enough to make it worth it to Jeep. Hopefully I'm wrong.

nice cool thing for a modern day city type person. still too much added stuff a person does not NEED. A carbed engine - no computer needed. the WW2 jeep was good as most ppl that knew what they were doing could drive it & fix it. yup straight axles are good. and manual hubs can be optional. mechanical controls - they work, can be fixed [easily] when their worn out. [even temp fix to get off the trail] (even to get home) my 1975 truck has only a pointless ignition. these are enough computers! one potted controller. [carry a spare as they are easier to replace than fix] all linkage needs to be mechanical!! bullet proof you can make new If you cant get the part. :)

Is nobody gonna say that this is a modern CJ-5? I guess that would be a marketing disaster. I had several of those. They were fantastic.

I've been saying for years that Jeep should make a side by side. Even if it's not street legal. They should even build atvs. Even if they made something similar to this concept and was street legal for $30,000 or less it would sell so well. Jeep never expected the Roxor to be a hit. It scared them so much they sued them. Which is a load of bs. Jeep gave them permission to build them and just decided that you were selling to many so no more. The funny thing about this concept is that it kinda copies the light weight idea that Suzuki does with their Jimny. That Jimny was actually copying the old military Jeeps. Funny, how Jeep is getting so out of touch with its customers that a concept from Jeep that reminds me of 2 vehicles that copy original Jeeps feels more like real Jeeps than new Wranglers. The last time I looked at JL 2 door in person, my first thought was," wow, these are huge! Aren't Jeeps supposed to be small and maneuverable?" Jeep needs to build this but sadly, Jeep is more interested in turning into a luxury offroad brand more like Land Rover, which has already started pushing buyers away from Jeep.

6:38 Why would ANYONE who is interested in this Jeep want or need side curtain airbags? Loved my '97 Wrangler (and my '91 Samurai) and those are what this seems to be most like in modern times.
