In tonights episode i return to one of the uks most haunted houses dubbed the screaming house/ murder house where a young lady named Brenda Evans was last seen before she went missing and later found dead with her tights wrapped around her neck, down a 12 foot man hole. With multiple reports of paranormal activity from the house from whispers, disembodied voices, Shadow figures seen in the house and even in the surrounding woodland area, We decided to head back for one final Paranormal investigation to see if there is any truth to the hauntings here.
History.
****** Evans, was murdered on October 7, 1977. Detectives are carrying out a ‘cold case’ review into the murder of teenager.
While on her lunch-break from the post office and general stores where she worked, she had walked half a mile to her uncle and aunt’s house for something to eat and then bid them goodbye before setting off back to work. But the postmaster was surprised she did not return at the usual time and when her mum called in at the shop that afternoon she became concerned. Friends and neighbours began to search along the route she would normally have taken. It was her fiancé’s mother Edith ******* who made the grim discovery in the woods. **** had been strangled with her own tights and dumped down a 12ft manhole - just 500 yards from a field where her fiancé, 20-year-old farm worker John , had been cutting hedges that afternoon.
Her fiance was questioned for 27 hours and was not released from police bail for four weeks but was never charged.
An FOI resulted in this statement from Cheshire Police: ‘At 18.55 hours on Friday 7th October 1977 the mother of the victim’s boyfriend was in a wooded area close to a disused airfield when she discovered the victim’s body in a manhole inspection pit. Approximately forty minutes earlier the victim had been reported missing. It was later found that the victim had been brutally assaulted both physically and sexually and her death was the result of strangulation using her own tights, which were still in situ around her neck. She had also sustained severe injuries to her throat and wrist, which was consistent with being cut with a sharp instrument’.
The police mustered 70 officers who combed the surrounding area and interviewed the members of a gang of workmen who had been laying new water mains in the area on the day ****** was murdered.
In all the police interviewed some 5,000 people and took 1,000
statements. Also a reconstruction of the victims last walk was held in a bid to jog people’s memories. A local woman driver remembered passing and seeing *****, seconds later she saw a dark-blue Mk 2 Ford Cortina turn into ** Lane from the opposite direction and head towards the girl. Another witness saw a green car turn out of ***Lane and onto the A483 . Despite nationwide appeals neither driver was traced.
