I actually have a different theory for the Phillies' lack of success after 1993 and then again after the 2008-11 period: Boy Meets World and its spinoff, Girl Meets World. During the times Cory Matthews was on a TV with new episodes of the two shows, the Phillies had a grand total of one winning season and that was the year the show debuted. The start of the curse seems to have begun on November 26th, 1993, when in the episode that aired, Cory claims that he wants to grow up to play for the Phillies and dons a Phillies jersey. After that, the Phillies would not have another winning season until 2001. The short version: Ben Savage doomed the Phillies to mediocrity.

The Phillies have blue hats but those are part of their alternate home uniforms during weekend day games those hats are better than the ones from 1994.

I remember the summer of 1994 vividly and that Phillies team was flat out awful. They overachieved in 1993, they stunk the place out in 1994. I saw the hats during the playoffs and couldn't believe they were back. It was never about the hats.

The hats now have a red brim. They wear them with the cream colored jerseys and have been wearing them since around 07. The one from 94 were all blue

Phillies just did not develop talent after 2011. This 2022 season is surrounded by and impacted mostly from Harper, Castellanos, Schwarber, Wheeler, Realmuto, etc. The homegrown Nola, Hoskins, and Dominguez have giving some lift as well. Especially Dominguez.

The current blue hat is at least based off a previous uniform (1948 I believe) so it's at least an entire uniform. The 1994 hat was probably the laziest uniform update you could do and just screamed cash grab. I know every alternate uniform technically is but it typically isn't so blatant. It was the exact same uniform but with a different color hat.

When old is new again...in 1992 iirc they changed to the "Whiz Kid"-esque uniforms. Home opener vs the Braves Greg Maddux hit Dykstra with a pitch and broke his wrist. Bad early sign for sure.

I believe the superstitious Santiago wore 0-9 because he considered it bad luck to have the backstrap of his chest protector cross over the centered single-digit number. By adding the zero, the strap crossed in between the digits.

I wonder if they were wearing those Blue hats in the 09 World Series lmao!!! Kidding aside it's more about players who let it into there heads that they were cursed with those hats. Its about the mindset of players and not the curse. Just think why teams like the Red Sox in .04 or Cubs in .16 who by right could of used there two WS curses to justify losing the Series but instead they had a different mindset.
