You hear a lot about fixed gear Mecca's like San Francisco, New York City, and Portland, but you don't really hear about the fixed gear scene in Chicago. I hosted a group fixed gear ride in Chicago on a Wednesday night. About sixty riders showed up. It's next level. Between the energy of riding in the dense city; vastly different types of riding from flowing through gridlock, to forested gravel trails that go on forever, to pristine rides on the water; to the passionate fixie fam that still shows up for a freezing ride all against a gnarly headwind, Chicago has thoroughly convinced me that I need to move there. Here's my ride with the Chicago fixie fam.
