I’ve been in Toronto since 1958 and really appreciate how divers it has become: the people, the food, the culture. We have our issues but we are full of life. Loved your video. You really got us!
@@DelightfulTravellers I genuinely curious why do you guys choose DR between all countries that have white sand beaches and nice weather I just curious and I would like to know, greetings from Dominican Republic 👋
I lived just off Queen West in the 1990s. Queen Mother Cafe was open, The Bamboo was open, and so many more. It was not dangerous. It was less expensive, had more artists, was less hostile to the homeless and the vulnerable, but that didn't make it dangerous. In 2014, ten years ago, Vogue named Queen West the second hippest street in the World. Also, there are eleven (11) public swimmable beaches in the city of Toronto with lifeguards.
@@DelightfulTravellers I was just going to add, you should pop out to the Beaches area (Queen St. East) the next time you're in town. It's where the city comes to swim and meander along the boardwalk. The area is also well known for its jazz festival in July and there are lots of events and concerts held at Woodbine Park (Drake's concert venue, History, is across the street from the park as well).
I recently spend 17 fun filled years in Toronto, the capital of Ontario. Now I am living in the capital of Canada, Ottawa and I am enjoying the smaller city vibe. Not sure why you don’t like winter. Winter reminds me to be present in gratitude for beautiful days.
At 74, have always lived in Toronto, 25 years in the west end of the city and the rest in downtown Toronto - a great walking city! As you do, I too go south in the winter but wonderful to explore T.O. in all seasons. So much to enjoy - eh?
Thanks for visiting our home town area! We were in for a Blue Jays game a few Sundays ago and they won that day. So much to do in town. Lots of great plays, music and food. We went to Adega a Portuguese place while we were in. Sooooo good. Looking forward to your next video. Safe travels.
I spent some of my childhood in Toronto (mostly in the suburb of Pickering). My family moved to LA when I was 8 years old and I haven't been back. Now as an adult, it is on my bucket list to go back and revisit these places that I spent years 3-8 at. To no surprise, so much has changed! Thanks for this video!
There are other beaches along the waterfront that are very popular. Where we live just west of Toronto, the patios are open until sometime in Nov. Many have heaters etc. We don't shut down at the first sign of cold weather.
if you go to the CN tower go for lunch or dinner it covers the cost of going up the tower which is expensive and there is a price fixed menu there, I have a friend that works there she says you might as well have lunch/dinner, it's worth it.
The ‘Toronto’ sign in Nathan Phillips Square is updated every few years, currently displaying artwork by Toronto artist Joseph Sagaj. I’m glad to see you enjoyed your quick visit close to my neck of the woods (just north/west of Toronto) and I’m very curious to find out the exciting news in upcoming videos 😊!
Good patties in Kensington Market, but for the absolute best you need to go up to Little Jamaica on Eglinton, where you get fabulous Caribbean street food, restaurants, grocery stores and bars.
Lived in Toronto from 1998-2015. Live about an hour way now. Covered a few of my favourite areas in this video. I still try to visit when I get a chance for an event or a staycation day trip.
Peameal bacon sandwiches are the official food of Toronto, but outside of St. Lawrence Market, you only see them on diner & some older restaurant menus. The unofficial food of Toronto is the Jamaican patty of course - you can find it in every subway station, convenience store, etc. And one more that's less known is sushi pizza! It was invented at Nami restaurant in Toronto & you can find it at any sushi place in the city.
Toronto! Our old home! I (Brandon) lived there for almost five years. Anja and I lived there together for two. We really miss it..but 100% agree with you - no more Canadian winters for us either. 😂
So excited about this video. The food, neighborhoods all looked great! We visited Niagara Falls, Niagara on the Lake and New Market last year. We were told to avoid Toronto since we were driving. We are planning on flying up to Toronto next spring, recommendations please on public transportation and getting to the city from the airport. Thanks guys another fun video~Cara ❤
I'm so glad I found you guys! I'm visiting my brother in New Brunswick in October and transiting through Toronto. Definitely need to hang out there now after seeing your vlog! Although, the weather does look a bit british 😂 The distillery kinda reminds me of Camden and wow that bacon butty 😋
Yes you can skate on the pond at Nathan Philips square. It cost only $15 to rent skates but the wait in line was around an hour for me personally. If you rent skate they take your ID so you absolutely have to return the skates lol
I know my reasoning is odd but your comment about the food in Toronto is so far the ONLY reason I cannot see myself living elsewhere. In my travels I am always open to moving, living, retiring etc but when it comes down to the food variety and options and access, I have a hard time accepting other places. So for the forseeable future, Toronto will remain my home. And YES you can skate at Nathan during winter. Cheap skate rentals and some cocoa and the lights are lovely.
Hey guys, really enjoying your vlogs, especially the Halifax ones where I lived for a few years in the 80's Lawrence St to be precise lol. I got married in New Glasgow! back in Blighty now, still miss a cheeky Donair on a Friday night 🤣
My old city. The best attraction in Toronto is the CN Tower for sur. Art Gallery of Ontario is also great. Avoid the sad spectacle of the zoo. The Ex when it's on. Toronto has so many neighbourhoods so just walking anywhere downtown, and beyond too, is great. I know you two are water wimps, but when you're back in NS, but try to make it to tidal bore river rafting in Shubenacadie.
Paddington's Pump, another shop in St. Lawrence Market, also sells peameal bacon sandwiches and offers toppings beyond what Carousel does. I think they have a simpler take-away sandwich and more complex sit-down option, as they have seating. Future video should you return to the city in the future?
Trevor and Anna, thank you for not taking us to a sporting event. The last thing I want to do is waste three or more hours of my limited exploration of a new area cooped up in an arena to watch a ball game. My friends did that to me when I visited them for a one day layover in San Francisco, and then they were too tired to show me the city. Show me what's unique to an area, not something I can get at home. That's the joy of traveling. 😊
I've been to many places in Italy and I live in Toronto. It is depressing and so culturally poor compared to many places in Italy. The food in toronto is all genetically modified. The people are ultra fake and aren't social at all. Everyone is inside or alone with a dog. So happy you guys are leaving, toronto isn't the same anymore and I don't want to spend another winter here either
great city spring, summer and fall. but long, cold winters are a challenge. still a great city. and no real slum. redevelopment all over. and expensive.
Do you have a link to the blue/white striped blouse you’re wearing at 16:40? It looks great on you, very light and flowy. If you can help me with a brand, thank you! P.S. I love Toronto and all the rest of Canada. Such a beautiful country.
Wait, what? I'm born and raised in Ontario and I have never heard someone say we are part of Eastern Canada. Ontario and Quebec are kind of their own thing...The culture(s) here are so different from the Maritimes.
Thanks for pointing out that Toronto is not on the East Coast. Nothing irks a Nova Scotian more than people who forget that the Atlantic Provinces are the coast.
HE IS CRAZY. HE PROBABLY HAD HIS OWN PERSONAL REASONS TO SAY SO, BUT MAN WHAT NOT TO LOVE IN CANADA,IF YOU HAVE FAMILY AND FRIENDS AND ARE WELL EDUCATED.
