I was wondering if you could give me some advice on how to start a band. I'm 16 and just started playing guitar 6 months and I love it! I would like to form a band in college while I'm getting my degree. My dream is to go on a world tour after I get my degree. I think if I work hard enough I can improve my guitar skills up to that level. Problem is I have no idea where to begin on how to form a band in the first place

+Autumn McClain Well I applaud your determination :). If you work hard enough i'm sure you can accomplish your dreams. I would say you first ask any friends who play instruments if they want to join as long as they are committed enough. Friends are best because you already know them and their personality. If you can't find any friends, go to your school's music department and post some flyers or ask around. There are a lot of ways to do it. My band isn't very successful so I may not be the best person to ask. haha. But I hope this helped and i'll let you know of any tips if I can think of them. I'm here if you have any more questions :P

Hey Dude! :) how are you? hope you're doing well! I have some questions. So I have an electric guitar handed down to me. And I have a acoustic also. I've been teaching myself on acoustic but a lot of the music I want to play is on electric. I don't have an amp for it and idk if I want to buy one what should I be looking for? Can I get a cheap one to start with or is that not a good idea? Where should I buy one? What brands should I look at? (I was looking at Midbell) Is it easy to transfer from playing acoustic to electric? And can I learn power chords on acoustic? Is there anything besides an amp that I would need to buy? I would really appreciate your answers! :) thanks for taking the time to read this!

+Autumn McClain Hey Autumn! I'm great! Well i'm touched that you would come to me with questions, and I'm glad to help. I'm actually considering doing a Q&A session in the future. But yeah okay let me try to answer your questions to the best of my abilities. First of all, good job teaching yourself guitar! I know it's not easy but I believe in ya and I urge you to stick to it. I do recommend buying an amp. You don't need to go buy the best one out there and burn a hole in your pocket, but I wouldn't recommend buying the cheapest one either. You want something that is simple and will get the job done, but still sounds alright and doesn't break in a year. There are tons of brands and sizes, each with their ups and downs. Some are better for metal music, others are better for jazz, etc. You can buy one on amazon, guitar center, and many other places. Guitar center is very reliable. Amazon is good too, but make sure you know who you are buying it from on there, because you don't have to be a profession to sell it on there. Try to find a reliable source. I only have one amp, a Line 6 Spider iv 15. It's pretty good all around and it was only a hundred dollars. I like it and it gets the job done. I would recommend getting a 15 amp instead of a 30 or 120 to start off with, just because you don't need a huge amp to start off with. It is fairly easy transferring from acoustic to electric. To be honest, acoustic is actually kinda harder to play than electric. You can do more tricks on electric, but its easier to press down on the strings so it shouldn't be a hard transition. Yes, you can learn power chords on acoustic. It depends on the song whether it will sound better on acoustic or electric, but yes, you can play power chords on acoustic. It's going to be a little harder and strenuous on your hand, but it's good practice for electric. If you can play it easily on acoustic, then you can really shred it on electric. If you are going to get an amp then you will need a guitar cable to plug the guitar into the amp. I will post a link below to some tips on picking cables. You could also get an effects pedal to change up the sound, in which case you will need two guitar cables. But I wouldn't worry about the pedal until you become a little more experienced. And if you have an electric acoustic guitar then you can plug the acoustic into the amp as well. If not, you can also buy a portable pickup and put it in the sound hole of you acoustic to then plug that into the amp. You can also have your acoustic converted to an electric acoustic at a guitar shop, but for the price, you might as well just buy a new acoustic electric guitar. Hey, you can never have too many guitars. haha. Well I hope this helped! Please let me know if you have any more questions or want some clarification. I am not an expert so just keep that in mind. Just a fellow guitarist trying to help out :). I hope you subscribe to become part of my family! We'd love to have ya. Keep on Livin!
