I haven't self-harmed in months and I'm trying to stay strong. May God help us all

I’m 30 years old and I have never drank alcohol in my entire life! As a child I saw how alcohol negatively affected many of my relatives and knowing there’s nothing I could do to help them saddened me. I told myself that I would not be the next one. A lot of people in my family are very proud of me for the decision I made and some think it’s really weird that I don’t drink but I never cared and ill never be embarrassed since I know I’m being myself.

I've been morbidly obese for the majority of my adult life. I'm down 50lbs from the first of the year. I still have a long way to go, but It's at least a start. That's my current personal fight.

The fact that they gave up alcohol because it causes negativity in their relationship is so mature and amazing. There are some relationships that an individual would be selfish or possibly refuse things like that.

I’ve been clean from self-harming for about 3 years. I don’t know what to share, but even during the hard days, I try not to think about it and I simply just deal with life instead of run i g away towards the blade.

I want you all to imagine. A whole year, being harassed by a stalker even then not turning towards alcohol for pleasure/leisure time. Need a extremely strong mindset to not drift away from your goal. Roman Thanks for being a father figure for many people online. : )

I lost my husband to cancer 8 months ago and every day is a mental health battle. I’m a mom of 4 and now a widow at age 45. Never in a million years would I have imagined life without him in it. But that being said everyday I push myself to be a role model for my two teenage children (ages 15&17) they are at an age were they need their dad around. I know I can never fill those shoes but I will do my best to make positive memories and push them to do great things

I admit that I don't watch your videos as often as others but for some reason I stumbled upon this and I think I was meant to see it. I've been sober for 697 days after almost dying. My liver was literally shutting down and I could feel myself slipping away. Even though I knew I needed to, it was so hard for me to stop. Congratulations on taking your life back. It feels so good to finally have control. Everyone drinks. It's everywhere, I dont know if being sober makes you hyper sensitive to it, but it's so acceptable to be drunk. You do it when you're happy, sad, depressed, celebrating, drowning your sorrows...I still feel like a lameass when everyone else can drink and have fun. But it's the right choice for me. You guys did what you had to do and that takes guts! Congrats again on your sobriety!

Congrats you guys!!! I just celebrated two years of sobriety on 3/25 of this year. Hardest thing I’ve ever done but the best thing I’ve done for both myself and my loved ones. I have depression, ptsd and anxiety. I had an alcohol problem, really bad. I’m closing in on 3 years sober. I’m also 15 months clean of self harm. Always share your accomplishments, people will recognise them, at least those close to you should.

I have never said this out loud to anyone but I’m here clean from self harming for a little over a year 💕 I’m proud of myself of course there’s days that I do struggle to keep clean but the days that I struggle the most and come out the other end still clean I’m the proudest ❤️

I quit smoking cigarettes 6 years ago after my daughter was born, I felt I better do whatever I can to be in her life as long as possible...i quit cold turkey mid-pack and never looked back. You do what you gotta do for your children

At 23years old I went to 2 rehabs for alcohol and drugs just got caught in the bar star scene I'm now turning 30 and I've been clean for 5 years 5 months today is my day 2000 clean. Definitely not something to be embarrassed about life has been nothing but amazing. N.a and a.a help me stay clean congratulations on your sober time it's a huge accomplishment. I have so much respect for you both for staying sober for so long. I can relate with the arguing in my family was always when one of my family members would drink,so I was glad to see someone sharing this because I always wanted to know if it was true!

I have been clean and sober for 8 years now. I'm surprised I'm still alive with the things I've done. But, I've come so far and have a great job and finally got my GED after 17 years. I'm working on myself every day. Thank you guys for sharing your story and making us smile

I was disabled by a drunk driver in 1999, and it not only result in many injuries, it destroyed me emotionally. I had a semi-truck of anger that was affecting my life, (not the drunk drivers life.) So with the help of my therapist, friends, family, and faith in God, I finally let go of it., then and only then did my emotional healing began. Nowadays I chose to be happy regardless of my situation. Thanks for helping me realize that everyone has something destroying their growth and happiness. God bless you all. Congratulations!👍😁🙏

I’m so glad you all said you felt a little embarrassed too. I’m 408 days sober and I just feel so weird and embarrassed when meeting new people to say I’m not drinking alcohol. It’s such a everyday, common thing to grab drinks after work. Thank you for sharing your experience and making others feel like they’re not alone. 😊

I went into rehab last year March 30th for abusing pills and fighting my depression. It’s crazy how fast time went by and it hasn’t been the easiest year but knowing I’m not alone really helps and I’m so proud of myself to be one year sober. I've always had a trouble asking for help. Even through cancer, I always felt like I couldn't ask for help because I didn't want to burden the people who are supporting me even more. But now as I'm getting older I and now starting to open up and ask for help. And you guys have been one of the driving forces to do so. So thank you.

Congratulations to you both. That is such a huge step in anyone's lives. I am 36 years old and have never really drank. A few SIPS, not full drinks, here and there but I AM the one at the parties who doesn't drink. It is a personal choice I made as a teenager and I have kept all these years. I used to be picked on but I stood my ground with it and I am so proud of myself for doing so. You both have this!!

I'm 23, I began smoking at the age of 18. Finally after finding out I'm having a baby, I've managed to quit. Shame I couldn't do it before. I know it's not long but I have not picked up or even thought about a cigerette in 14 days! Well done to you guys!

About 3 years ago I started to drop down into a dark hole in my life I started to do things I shouldent have done and in the end I realized that I needed to do right and straighten my self out amd I have now been clean almost a whole year from every nasty thing in life and I have noticed a huge change in my life alot more positive

I was the only one in my friend group in high school and college that didn’t drink, smoke cigarettes, or smoke marijuana and I’ve always felt like the “outcast” and “party pooper” but when you surround yourself with positive people who support your choices and truly want what’s best for you, that makes it so much easier. My challenge that I need to work on to better myself is being kinder to myself. Too many times a day I find myself putting myself down and only thinking negatively, when I preach self love to my younger sister, my close friends, and my young cousins and nieces... and now it’s time for me to take my own advice and be kinder to myself. I have a brother who became an alcoholic at a very young age and he ruined his life, it was the hardest thing I've ever lived, and I know how hard it is to let that go. He still struggles with it 15 years later. It's a blessing to be able to remove yourself from it, so don't feel embarrassed, be proud. I have never tasted alcohol because of it, so I know how it is to be judged. But in life we have to do what's best for us regardless who understands. Smile More 🙂
