THIS IS WHAT A DJ SHOULD DO IF THE WEB GOES DOWN AND YOU HAVE NO ON LINE CONNECTION This video is for entertainment purposes only and is not legal advise
I love my vinyl, for me there is nothing better than going through your crate and picking out your tracks, placing them on the 1210/1200s and physically looking at what is playing looks the business, more so in todays streaming world. Playing vinyl looks, feels, and sounds great. I love this channel.
Absolutely! No chance I'll ever swap vinyl for anything else. It's so important to me to have physical copies of my musical history on hand. If anything, it's a musical inheritance for our children. Every record carries its own memories, when/where you heard it, who you heard it with, etc. and that's just magic. You also pretty much can't lose money (as long as you treat them with the respect they deserve! Getting a spin wash and antistatic inner sleeves is a fantastic investment), it's an inflation-proof investment in the form of a physical asset. Keep and look after your records!
I could not agree with you more on everything said AND everything you did not say because you couldn't. Way way back when I started following your channel thats all we had vinyl and CD. THANK YOU !!! for all you give to and have done for the DJ community as well as continuing to post videos, your channel is almost 2 decades old now, and I still learn from you. I appreciate you, you are an admiration . Merry Christmas
Hello John. I completly agree with you ! I used to say : ''You are never better served than by yourself''. So you have to have your own backup stuff... Love you videos man. Love you. Thank you. Merry Christmas
Some streaming services allow you to download the streamed tracks to your device. If a thief steals your vinyl and CD's they're gone. Or if your house burns down as well. Gone. Or if your vinyl wears down. No "backup". Digital media can be backed up to multiple places. My music collection is on at least 6 different hard drives. And not only in this house. My house can burn down (touch wood!!) and I can still recover my whole collection. And digital just sounds much better than vinyl. (Unless you like a higher noise floor, cracks & pops and the sound of vinyl. But that can be perfectly replicated digitally if you like that. They call it "lo-fi" music. )
Hopefully you won't take this in a 'bad way' .. But, you are kinda wierd! But then kinda wonderful. I love that you take us on the border of conspiratorial thoughts and then merge it all with REALITY. ..... On a side note, I have always.... ALWAYS had a tendency to keep away from anything "online" I still refuse to rely on streaming. I have have everthing on an Unraid server and IF everything comes to "an end" ALL I NEED is my controler, server and amps............ And generator/Solar area.
This one hits home with me. I mostly do gigs with the cloud, but I have a backup with not a very wide selection of songs, most beatport stuff. I have been in a couple of situations where the internet has gone out, but I've been lucky to be able to have good service to run it off my phone. I've had one time where I has to janky loop something, but I've learned to load a couple of tracks on my decks(sc6000), so I have 3 extras I can load just in case I'd love that thumb drive. Put me in for it!
Very valuable info , Jonathan. My goal going forward is to play 80s & 90s together as one and create am epic party vibe out of it. I appreciate you & Merry Christmas!
MP3/AIFF/etc on USB for me, any requests I do not have I bluetooth my phone to play then I purchase the song the next day, always great buying the tracks the next day ahahah. Could never rely on streaming, love the idea of building a strong collection which I own/manage, cheers for the video!
Interesting mate , I've got all my vinyl , CDs , DVDs , MP3 sticks , hard drives which I use now.. I only use online like Spotify for a playlist , I never rely on the net....also smoke machines are virtually banned anyway...just saying...lol... Merry Christmas & enjoy....
Streaming only is a long way off for me, I was late to the party moving to laptop, I still have most of my cd collection but I never use it, the sad thing is the cds oxidise. Streaming is the future but i'll carry a copy of my mp3's for as long as I can. As for vinyl its ok for noustalgia but pretty useless in a mixed crowd and someone asks for top 40
Typical colonizer. Loses custody of his kids, they don’t want to see him. Blames the government instead of taking accountability. And turns into a conspiracy theorist. Merry Christmas.
