I loved the second half performance vs Brentford but in my opinion, it shouldn't take a situation like what happened with De Ligt to fuel it. These players need to harness the power of being a dominant United team from the start in terms of energy and tempo because if they do from the start in more games, fans will respond, the other team will be under pressure instead and everything will come easier to them just like it did in that second half.
@@marcusjoule628 what you mean game like this? Its team that put city in similar position. you guys need to wake up. Premier league is getting more and more difficult because money is fairly given...almost 100mil price money to last
@@joni.sirvio8867 totally agree with you mate . The league is getting harder. I’m not saying we should win every game but we need to atleast play convincing football. Control games . Both goals were suberb but don’t you think it was more out of lack of concentration that we scored them? Look at Liverpool, they have a new manager but yet they play good football. You would never think they got a new manager . Our players who are on top wages and even play internationally were average
Honestly the stick he's got has been a joke. He's been good, even Porto, yeh maybe for a couple of the goals you think get in front of your man, but who was in front of him to cut the crosses out. He's winning headers, then having to win the second ball too, it's been poor in front of him
Rashy tracked back i loved it. Tracking back with real commitment too. I was thinking garna was tracking back too much and was gonna burn out but he was getting in decent positions up field too. Hojlund hold up and goal amazing. Case played decent not dwelling on the ball. Dalot energy. Bruno decent link up. De ligt warrior. Onana even pulled out an amazing save
I liked what I saw from De Ligt. And tbh Ruud. I could see de ligt stringing together a few good seasons here and getting that captains arm band. It’s something we’ve been lacking since Keane and then Rooney left - an angry player who can get other players angry.
Erik is tryna build a culture brick by brick. Inevitably it's gonna take some time. But I'm sure once the standard is elevated that will be the new benchmark. Onwards and upwards.
How we played against Brentford is exactly how we've played against Fulham, Brighton, Palace, Southampton, we've took the chances second half. We were the better team first half, but yeh serving half was a step up. Really struggling with Sam's negativity atm. I know things aren't good enough, but he's really being part of the pile on
He's drunk.. thought he's different than other...but he is just like other fan channels... jumping on the hate wagon...only he uses mild n sweet words..stop this negativity
I agree with taking De Ligt off the first time. Blood was running down the side of his face. However, the second time was pointless. He had a little blood on the top of his head. It's virtually the last kick of the half. It would be justified if he wasnt allowed back on the pitch right after the goal, but the ref let him back on the pitch after the goal, looking the same as when he went off.
Hello 👋🏽 I was Listening on Radio 1st half Atmosphere was lacking could here pin drop 2ND HALF WOW THE VOLUME ERUPTED absolute goose Bumps took me back 2 when 1 was 16yrs old ❤ ..
😂😂😂 maybe get off the armchair kid and actually put some time and money into the club, moaning about the atmosphere but never been to a game, usual plastic fan
Really happy to see the passion and rage in De Ligt. I think that's what the team had been lacking, the spark in us that truly motivate the players for each game. Too often had our players simply rollover and give up upon a setback. Really hoping that De Ligt can infect the rest of the team moving onwards
Channel that energy and Utd is a whole new beast! That attitude and lift in the stadium was rolling back the years. This team is good enough, with the right attitude this could well be a turning point.
Sam I think you should be part of Man United dressing room to motivate the players. You pass as a motivational speaker. We need this type of speech in the dressing room moving forward.
It shouldn’t take speeches for run of the mill league games. You need the right character in the players. Much like fergie couldn’t ‘motivate’ the squad he took over for his first 4 years or so.
We have a good squad. This squad has beaten the winners of la liga barcalona in europe, Liverpool, man city. Its just the mentality. If we have the mentality, we will only get winning results with good form and confidence
I think the hard work has been done. It’s now mostly about overcoming the negative conditioning that’s built up around the club. In combination with the fundmantally different way of playing becoming faster, more fluent and adaptable as the squad goes from consciously competent to unconsciously competent.
What I don't understand is why they're not always pissed off? The media is not on their side, other teams do not fear for them and people(football fans/pundits) generally do not respect them- That should be enough to make them have a chip on their shoulders. I hate to bring Fergie into conversations about United because he was one of a kind and that era has passed but he was excellent at getting the team rilled up and making them feel like they had something to prove even though they were the best at the time.
Because the media has been driving a wedge between the manager and the players. Blaming the manager leads to the players feeling like the media is on their side because they aren't being blamed directly.
Fergie couldn’t do that in his first 4 or 5 seasons. He needed to build a squad with the right character and hunger first. It’s a long road to fundamentally rebuild a squad. Some fans seem to think it’s about small tactical tweaks via a different manager coming in every two years.
As a fan from Nigeria, tears rolled down my cheek during the second half seeing my players play with the kind of spirit and emotions that I couldn’t celebrate any of the goals, but rather, cry in anger of what my beloved Manchester United have become, average. It’s painful, it’s very painful
That's why I don't think it's right to have a head coach instead clubs need managers. Motivating players to play at the level required is part of a manager's job. If players are not motivated to perform at the expected standard, then that is the manager failing to do his job
We played fantastic against Brentford, plus the assist from Bruno Fernandes & Marcus Rashford was incredible. Our team will get there bit by bit, ten hag is doing incredible despite all the pressure on his shoulders he's facing when it comes to managing this team week in week out.
What I loved about de ligts reaction was he had Man Utd in his blood, you could see it in his eyes, garnacho was world class in the second half, so wish we signed Ivan Toney to get the goal ratio up !
I'm expecting us to beat the hammers, but we are still trying to get team cohesion. Sooo, don't get all on Hag's case if things don't go as planned plz. This is a work in progress and there is clear progression, we'll inevitably have more setbacks in the process.
Rashy playing RW have made him do 2 things he never didi before. Tracking back + crossing the ball. I think Erik have to play him there a couple of games so he can learn those attributes.
It is not just injustice and anger that help MU WIN. brilliant tactical changes that Erik made to confuse Brentford. Awesome to see. We give way too little credit to coaching staff. I just can’t wait for more people to see and realize this. Dallot being a threat was awesome to see. If we capitalize on those moments that is all we would have talked about. On to next game. Also realize you can’t go be angry every game and use fuel to win. That is for special moments. Confidence and positivity is what gets you championships with some luck.
I think they both got yellow cards from that protest which is understandable from Rudd n De Ligt. Referees hate on United is unreal. Also remember De Ligt a former Ajax captain
Very impressed with how we came out that 2nd half, I thought the players were throwing erik under the bus in the first half, dalot sleeping on the corner for their goal players dropping their heads when things wernt going right and the medical staff how it came to the point de ligt comes off 3-4 times had me shouting at the tv, was a shambles. Hopefully we can get a good run going now, after west ham and chelsea we have a good run of games coming up so if we can get them 2 out the way hopefully got on a 6-7 game win streak.. Some of the teams higher up all have to play eachother there for can see them all dropping atleast 3-6 points and if that happens hopefully we'll have a better reflection of where we are in the table. I thought we showed good character to get the equaliser against porto, maguire and onana's urgency was brillliant towards the end. Brighton, palace we were unlucky, spurs bruno shouldnt have been sent off but tbh liverpool and spurs were 2 games I was more disappointed about the performance and think being unlucky in brighton and palace games didnt help with momentum for liverpool and spurs. We get some momentum now and other teams start getting hiccups I can see things looking much better by decemeber. Come on United!
We need to be more clinical in front of goal. We can't be taking 23 shots and have 11 on target while only scoring 2. That's unacceptable 😤 I enjoyed the second half performance, but we need more consistency!
“We need this anger” AT THE START OF EVERY GAME and for 90 plus minutes. Utd showed in last seasons FA Cup what they could do if they f..king played as they should for an entire game. They’ll be back to their norm on Thursday
you know what sam, we could learn a thing or two from Michael Jordan...he said that he likes to imagine that the opponents trash talk to him during the game eventhough it was actually they were not doing any trash talk, and that fuels him...to be a beast of a basketball player at the time...maybe this is what we (the players) need...i hope eth knows how to influence the dressing room now much better...sometimes tactics/strategy is good, but you've got to have that "anger" to fuel your game...used the negative energy from the media to fuels them...
The replay of Brentford's goal should be shown to the players before every match and see if that fires them up enough to kick on from the first whistle
It shouldn’t be that a hard to fuel a unifying idea to get everyone fighting together. The media is against united and the officials have been screwing us over for the past year. Get them to also practice expecting the best in everything they do, and the right mentality and confidence will soon grow despite all the toxicity being poured on them.
We should go back to our golden era mentality "United vs the World" United vs other teams United vs media United vs refs. I felt that mentality in that second half, if we just pass it into our squad's dna we should see magnificent game from those players.
They need to read social media comments pre-match and remember every little thing that's pissed them off in their personal lives and unleash on the opponents. Listening to heavy metal in the changing rooms on game day might help too.
The team needs that kind of urgency. Its missing from the first whistle because its not there The manager must find a way of injecting that attitude. Maybe we wouldve lost this game if that sense of injustice hadnt come after the goal.
What undermines motivation and team function, is unpredictable selections, over complicated tactics, and overly mental focus. All players want to do their best and flourish with their abilities, talents and teamwork.
AF used the siege mentality all the time . There’s enough negativity around MU to easily create that siege mentality . ‘Everyone is against us’ . Let’s go get them 💪💪🔴⚫️🔴⚫️
First time in many years, that I was happy with Rashford's performance. In fact, I DON'T want to see him anywhere else besides the right wing. Garnacho and Antony can share the left wing. Rashford and Amad can share the RW. Højlund WILL improve, and played the perfect role by holding up the ball. Bruno better find his striking range, and we'll be perfect
This is where the old boxers argument of being hungry actually driving you comes from. For some, earning 200K a week makes them content, for others they never forget what drove them in the early days.
Just proves what the team have is a mentality issue. They can play that second half - effective, fighting, unified. They just don’t do that every game for some reason. It’s frustrating to know that they can but don’t do it game in game out.
It should be said that we shouldn’t need an incident like that to happen in order to fire us up for a game but like you say. That second half certainly felt more like it in terms of desire. I don’t care if you have to slap each other about in the changing before kick off but get fired up for Christ sake. You’re playing for Man United
I hope it does not continue with the same up and down cycle. It is getting tiring now. We need to see that aggression to produce some good performances away at the Etihad, Anfield, the Emirates before I am convinced.
