This is THE G-Dragon! Nobody but nobody cuts his mic. And he wasn't dissing the kpop industry, he was dissing MAMA.

They are the only group diss MAMA but get invited next year to perform, What a LEGENDARY PERFORMANCE 😂😂😂

G-Dragon didn't diss the Kpop industry, he dissed the manipulative people behind MAMA awards. MAMA has been accused of rigging numbers many times and there were a few instances it was so evident. Artists winning that didn't qualify, those not getting the award for not attending, and then GD being awarded a category that he know he didn't deserve. That motivated him to give mama the middle finger a year later. It's already 2022, but that intro won't ever be forgotten in our music history. Some overseas idol fans are mad about it but we Koreans feel proud of what GD did. No one stood up against MAMA the way GD did. MAMA deserved that diss.

The thing is, they didn't let him do that. He wrote the lyrics to the rap on a post it note like 10mins before the performance and just gave the soundteam the track w/o lyrics. And NOBODY absolutely NOBODY would dare to cut G Dragons Mic.

DISS MAMA IN 2014 and the Next Year they were invited AGAIN IN 2015 AND STILL GOT AN AWARD And Performed. THEY weren't called EMPEROR for Nothing..

He didnt win artist of the year in 2014, because he never released any new music that year. He won artist of the year in 2013. The reason he dissed mama was because in 2013, he won 'best dance performance'. He shouldnt have been nominated for best dance performance when his songs doesnt really have dance routine. He said on his speech that "seungri should have win this award" (gd and seungri promoted at the same year). So in 2014, he dissed mama and the next year, bigbang was invited again (2015)

Fun fact and I know this is old but they didn't allow him to do that. He had gotten an approved rap for that section, but changed it last minute (literally 10 minutes prior to walking on stage) and gave the sound team a replacement track to play over what he had been going to do prior. They didn't have the balls to cut the mic when he started performing and dissing their rigged award show.

GD always rebels to kpop industry. Remember how he slams the Kpop companies by Producing bigbang music, composing bigbang music and other artists, not doing a full choreo. He slams the industry and proves that every kpop idol deserves better.

This took a lot of courage and it was possible because GD and BigBang knew damn well how good they are . One needs to be sure on their feet to take on and publicly speak against such a big media group . Any ordinary idol even from a big company would not want to upset someone as powerful and influencial . YG also is the company of rebels , of the idols that dont fallow the rules and are all cute and perfect . They started of as a hip hop label and their founder was part of a group that openly chalenged the government and the censorship in South Korea.

When this was aired live on TV back then, MAMA was too suprise to turn off his mic so they cut that part out by turning the channel black for a couple minutes during his rap and return normal when they sang Good boy

and the next year Big Bang was invited back and won Artist of the Year, Song of the Year (Bang Bang Bang), Best Music Video (Bae Bae). They were also up for Best male group (Exo won, and nothing against them but if Big Bang won artist of the year I don't know how they don't win best male group too lol), best Dance Performance (went to Shinee), and Album of the Year (went to Exo - Exodus, which again nothing against them but I don't know how Big Bang's MADE album didn't win, the lineup and popularity of all the songs released over the span of months... It's arguably one of the best albums all time). Aside from dissing them and calling out that they just freely hand out awards to get artists to show up to their show, YGE has a history of bad blood between MNET. For years also boycotting sending artists to the show, eventually SM also joined in not sending artists to the show.
