It’s never a boring video mate. Always good to see what others carry to camp, especially a military guy, as not focused on bling things, just things that work well 👌🏻
After leaving the military I found my solace in fishing integrated with the camping side of things I went full circle coping with trauma drugs alcohol but have finally come round still have bad days but glad to say are now rare you have my full respect brother stay strong stay positive 👍👌✌️✌️
As soon as I saw you walk in with that sac on your back, I thought jeez, what’s that all about. He ain’t hiking far. Then to be fair, you confirmed that. It’s Bushcraft for you, that’s your thing. I’m a bike packer, my hiking and military days are done. I go light and comfortable as I can. No axe, no bags or nice knives. No fire lighting kit etc. That said, our hobby’s/ pastimes cross over quite a bit. We both use electronics, we both need to cook and we both need our shelter. We both enjoy the wild outdoors. I have enjoyed your vid, I always like to see what kit others use. Thank you and stay safe out there. You have a new subber!
The older I get and less able to walk miles upon miles the more I love these type of uploads😀😀. Well done mate, very nice video. I used pretty much the same kind of gear, only thing extra I carried was a dhobey bag, but instead of dhobey gear, i had a hip flask with cooking oil, herbs, spices and brew kit. Keep on enjoying it mucker, before you know it, you’ll be a silly old bugger and wish you’d done it more. Enjoy 😃
I suggest you and the Zebra try cycling? Bikepacking is a real pleasure. Cruising the countryside, enjoying the outdoors and camping where and when you please. Just don’t tell anyone ha ha!
Ok brother. I have now watched every upload over the past 3 weeks, and this one every day for the last 3 days lol, I am going to reccy a local woodland next week, and get some kit ordered after jotting all this down!!! 9th Sept, I CANNOT wait. 37 now, it was all about sun holidays and self absorbed lunacy in earlier years, following hard grieving since 2015 and using other methods to take my mind off things, I have not looked forward to something so much in my entire life. Thank You so so so much!!!! I'm a bit nervous, but damn I am excited mate
I’m glad you now use the pad you can kneel on to save your knees. With my health the way it is and my elderly age. If I tried to kneel, I’d have to have a pad. I see so many videos of Bushcraft people on their knees and I’m thinking to myself, when you Bushcrafters get older, your knees are going to be a problem. The other thing that will save your knees is the light weight backpacking chair.
Not boring at all mate, very interesting to hear your not worried about weight. I’m a big fan of taking luxury items, beer (lots of it)a mini table and a few other bits and bobs that some purists would frown on but I want to enjoy my time out. I also use bungees, find them quick and easy and they keep everything in shape during windy camps. Glad I’ve found your channel it’s a breath of fresh air!
Yeah dude! Iv literally amazoned it big time! Orderd my hammock, camo pack, metal cooking grid for open fire, tarps, just got my misses a hammock too! Going theftford nextbweekend if my son isn't home by then. If so il shout u dude see if u and ur misses fancy joining us for a night of awesomeness! Speak soon craig stay safe 🤙🤙
"Some people are proper kit geeks, aren't they?" 🤣 haha yes they are bud. Dude that flying/elevated plow point (whatever it's called) looks super cool.
⚔️🇬🇧, take the gear you need, take spares of the gear you need......... if you don't take it with you, you don't get to use it. The only person you should rely on, or blame, is yourself ⛺️🔥🤠👍. Another good 'un 🎥😊👏👏👏
EastAnglianBushcraft - just saw this somewhere else 🙄, you're a 'guitar guy', check out this fire starting vid (stick with it, the good stuff's later on......and it relates to guitar😲🤔). 🇬🇧🤠⛺️👍 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-G5a5SBJ3vgc.html
Thanks Mr E.A.B for another great video. Always interesting to see how people do their kit. Wherry is a lovely drop as is Bure Gold. I see old Lazza (Larry) the wood louse is still trying to find his way home after that all nighter. I think you pulled a bit of wood aside a few videos ago and they (wood lice) were all having it large at natures Amnesia House…thanks as always 😀👍🏻🍻
Always good to see you brother and I use a bag for life aswell on my wild camps 😂 I think yours was a Tesco one, my ones are Asda’s 🤣 your posher than me then 🤣 see you soon mate, price and love 👊
Awesome Awesome video ! Me personally do not find your videos boring. But my favorite are the solo camping. I can never get enough of seeing a personalized kit ,there's always a change out. And thank you for your military service. Thank you for your never ending energy and your enthusiasm. You rock. Your friend Tom from Rhode Island.
A cracking video pretty much mirrors what i use and swap out for a hammock depending on the day and conditions. Purchased the Feurhand lantern on your recommendation and your right it gives a lovely warm glow. Thanks once again, you seem like a great bloke, highly watchable and wish you all the best. Rob
Being in the outdoors isn't an expensive fashion show to most of us but if it works for you then that's good enough. I still use good ol military kit too, it's all tried and trusted in the field by hundreds of thousand's of soldiers and I still like being tactical, old habits die hard.
Too right buddy! Some people have all the “best” and most expensive kit in the market which is no good when it’s been stuck at the back of the shed for years
G day bro nice to see you out again hopefully I look forward to seeing you at the bushcraft show nice to see your keeping up the ex army stuff like I do being ex special forces its whot I am use to using all the time, take care of yourself stay safe mate
Wash the jacket. They do wash well, just don’t use too much soap in your washing machine. Wash it on it’s own, rinse it almost dry and don’t tumble dry it. It’s like re booting the jacket. Becomes warmer and more comfortable and doesn’t stink. You’ll like it even more. Good luck.
Great straight forward info mate. Now a new subscriber after seeing your vid for the first time. No BS and honest. I’m looking forward to your coming up vids. Please please don’t follow the other bushy’s / campers that sell them self out to companies and reviews etc. great mate. Take care. 🇦🇺
Hiya, love this video, so I learnt I can use a cheapie hammock w good results.........I saw a nice spot on a walk today............Thanks and Blessings..............Did you get the Chris Thrall invite........???
Wicked film man, well done!!! I'm a bit of a weirdo. I mostly go out alone, but I always take enough kit for two people. Just in case I bump into another weirdo. (lol) take it easy. 🏴
Similar kit but don’t use the military packs anymore as they’re pretty heavy. Always pack a little basic first aid bag and found some great little compressed tissues that swell to full size with a few drops of water. The other main difference is my silky folding saw. Like yours, it cuts like butter on the pull, but being a folding saw, takes up less space and no need for a sheath. I only need a small fire so got a bushbox and a tiny alcohol stove for a cuppa if food cooking on the box. Don’t carry an axe any more… getting old and creaky so weight can be an issue. A cupla knives, (stainless and carbon with a ferro rod). Talking of weight, I no longer use the Zebra Billy can, but swapped out for titanium pot and cup. Always carry water filter just incase. Apart from those things, about the same, even down to the books, the down jacket and softie trews for sleeping, except a few sizes bigger than my normal size so they’re more like a sleeping bag. I stick a pair of braces on them if I want to sit outside at night. As weight is becoming an issue, I’m making a harness for a trolley I have. If I get it sorted, I’ll probably add my folding chair again. I’m not a kit fanatic, but it’s good to know what others use eh… one last thing… if I’m woodland camping, I’ll usually opt for my DD hammock, mozzie net and tarp, keeps the bugs at bay and me off the floor, but if not woodland I pack my tangram tent. I think I’m done typing. Really enjoying your vids. 👊🏼
Not dull or boring at all! Really helpful to see how other people do it and learn some tips. Like bungees - definitely going over to that from simple paracord and knots... Much quicker! Also: after me and the Mrs met up with you the other week, we did a brewery tour at Woodforde's the day after, came away with one of those 9 pint little barrels of Wherry. So much more flavour than the alcohol level suggests, proper session ale!
Good stuff chap, I doubt there is a "perfect" kit set up, which may well explain why I have so much!? lol Personally I wouldn't be without my Cold Steel shovel, the untimate multi tool. Good luck to you. Cheers Ian
Great video, I love seeing what's in the rucksack. Everyone has different best bits and I'm collecting all this knowledge. Love your little tree book, I'll be getting one o those for sure. I can't wait until I've got all my gear together. I've got all my military fam and friends digging me out bits and bobs. I cannee wait 😊👍Happy Camping ❤☮
I think you'll find you won't bore anyone with showing your kit. Those of us with kit like comparing and those without like to see what wild campers carry. A great kit video and really enjoyed it. Very similar kit to my own but as I'm getting old (and a hiker too) I am slowly upgrading my kit to make ot smaller/lighter. Main difference is that I carry a coffee press with me that includes a cup (aero press) can't beat a ground coffee whilst camping (except maybe a a burgan full of beers 😉😂). Love the video, see you for next one 👊🏼
Mega jelly of all your army gear mate. I spent many an hour in my youth in surplus stores. I've got some of the kit, just the bag to go. Never a boring vid when eabushcraft is about
Nice set up. All good pal. Takes me back. Just covered 20 mile having a quick brew, doing a recce for Wildcamps locally. The moors of Bowland offer some interesting ideas as does a woodland I've just found, with a Brook!
yep never boring mate. its good to see what ppl take with them. loving the vids bro keep it up, it's nice to see more UK camping and bushcraft vids on YT. I'm in Nottingham myself and try to get out in Sherwood forest as much as i can, anyone else in here around my area? what to team up for a wild camp?
I am a very experienced backpacker, there's no such thing as "boring". We all can still learn from others as there is no such thing as the best/correct rig. Rock on brother.!
Hey buddy, I always enjoy your videos. I am a regular on your site. Keep up the great work you do and I am from Michigan in the USA. You would love to camp in our state... Good camping and good health to you my friend!!
Despite having my own gear line up I really enjoyed this video. Thanks for sharing. You are SO right...it is easy to get gear focused, but it's all about getting out in the woods. Keep it up! Best
Always good to see a smaller load out. I don't think it matters how big of a pack you have...it will be full. I always tend to over pack and have a 65L bag that always ends up totally full...and then I don't use half of the stuff I bring. I'll have to pack up one of my three day bags (military issue smaller packs) and give it a go sometime. I generally will carry a small cooler for my food and beers...we like cold beer in the US. ;)
Hi mate , great video thanks , always good to see what others carry with them , we can always learn more 👍 Nice walk off with with your BFL 😂👍 Great looking woodland that 🏕🇬🇧
Good video mate always worthwhile as it helps others in what other people use and don't need to go overloaded to stay safe and dry take care and enjoy your time away in the camper 👍👌😀
Hey Craig, THX for showing your kit! I like the GB Army surplus Gear. So it happens that some of this is often in my Backpack. For Example the BASHA, Hexi Stove, Osprey Canteen and Cup, MTP Field/Respirator bag, selfinflating Sleepingmat, Bivy Cover, 90L Infantrie Bergan, Smock.... I love it! Instead of Bungees I prefer Cord to rig up a Tarp, it packs smaler and is lighter. Also Cord is even more versatile then bungees. Besides these Surplus Gear I am looking for general Camping Gear at Amazon... All the Best from Germania! Torsten
Thank you brotha, your videos inspire, educate and entertain. Appreciate what you do, thank you for bringing some of this positivity to my life, I wish you well in yours.
Hope you had a lovely time in the van - Awesome video as always. We did the Woodfordes Brewery tour last weekend and Husband loved the Wherry and the Nelson :-)
@@EastAnglianBushcraft Was really nice to meet you too - You're as friendly in person as in the videos! The walk you recommended was lovely and I took loads of lovely photos. Stay safe and have an awesome week
As you say, it's down to personal preference, or the good old "what works best for me" approach.I'm only 5' 4" tall.......got me sent up the jet pipe, or down the intake often enough, but on the plus side got me out of most parades. Because of this I find a large back pack to be quite destabilizing as it raises my centre of gravity too high. I have found that what is best for me is a modified PLCE rig of Belt,Yoke, Ammo Pouches and 3 old type S6 Respirator Cases.that keeps the weight lower down, around my waist...... It's quite surprising how much you can pack into an S6 bag......my Kip Mat sits on to, in the small of my back, with a small, lightweight rucksack for mu sleeping bah on top..........Like a Weeble, I sometimes wobble, but don't fall down.
Quality in every video mate, i should video my outdoor trips but i sound shite when i speak, been using afterbite for years when we camp in Canada, the mosqys love the scots skin but it works well, ATB man, keep the vids coming.
Great to see the things you take I got some ideas from you already from earlier videos. I have a 3x3 tarp only a cheaper one to start with as I don’t sleep out I’m usually home by 11pm. I carry a small pen knife I carried for over 40 years a folding saw a cheap fat max one it’s as good as a Laplander but less than half the price and it’s got yellow on it to see it if it’s dropped. I only cook on charcoal no fires but charcoal burns quite a while. No sleep gear,a foam kneeling/sitting pad
Good video. It looks like you carry 10 times more than I did. When the weather was warm at night I would sleep in my poncho with a poncho liner. I had an inflatable pillow as well. If it was going to be cool at night I would use my wet weather sleeping bag or if it was cold I have a extreme cold weather bag thats down filled. For shelter I have a military pup tent dated 1946 that snaps together so I can have the tent or just a lean to. I would sleep in what ever I wore camping as well. I found that changing into pj's was a waste of time. Food wise I would either get hotdogs or pack a mre. Cooking I had a foldable stereo stove setup and would use the canteen cup unless I had my billy pot. It was more for hot water or warming up mre without the heater pack. I carried 2 canteens but later got a 2 quart canteen. My pack was a surplus medium sized Alice pack on the metal frame. My fire starting was either a hlob of stereo (same as hand sanitizer) compressed fuel tab or just waste paper. I later started carrying a military machette but always carried a Swiss army pocket knife called a woodsman. It has the saw, can opener, bottle opener and a few other gadgets. Once in a while I would pack a mosquito hammock and ditch the tent. But that was when I was in my late teens to early 20s. After I got married my camping and fishing days just fizzled out. I'm 48 now and don't do much camping but I do have an off grid cabin on my property that I camp in when I'm off work. Also found some what of a level area that might make a good camping site if the neighbors weren't just 70 yards away and easily seen because there's no underbrush. Have fun camping in the van and not to sound like a parent but more of a friend, be careful behind the wheel after drinking. Id hate to hear that you were in an accident and not see anymore of your videos.
Good to see mate,im now in the process of getting all my stuff together for camping, tarps, tent, too much to mention, but it does include a very clean VW T4 Tdi. Semi converted inside, insulated and panelled out.im now finishing it off,so i will have the best of both worlds. Wish me luck!!!
Thank you for your service and for an interesting video. I'm no kit geek but I do like to know what others carry into the woods. You have another subscriber.
Great find!!! You've just popped up in my feed for the first time so this is the first video I've seen of yours. Subscribed straight away and will now spend a few days watching some more. We have similar kit strategies to be fair so i really appreciate the "it does the job" approach rather than spend hundreds of pounds on gear. Great content and look forward to more. Dean.
Love it man!! Nice and simple kit video, I'm always keen to see what people are carrying and how they're carrying it. You never stop learning so don't assume you know it all. Cooking is another one if them things I'm always chopping and changing what I take depending on what I'm cooking. Can never go wrong with an mre 🤣🤣 Nice shout on the anker battery pack! Always like your videos man. Keep it up!!
@@EastAnglianBushcraft yea they are always a last minute option anyway. It's just easy to boil a bag and relax. You cant beat cooking fresh outdoors tho
That was fantastic mate - watched a few now and subscribed. I'm just looking to get started - dont care so much that it's winter- just need a few days away from it all. Just need to find the right spot to get started. Stay safe.
I've been watching all of your videos dude! Gearing up for my first overnight challenge. I'm just scared of the dark woods haha! Maybe a couple of beers will help!!
