I'm a RV bathroom break all the way. I avoid public restrooms if at all possible 🤢 Besides, it's not like I'm taking a shower.. so I'm not worried a few bathroom breaks will fill the tanks 😂.
Every time Craig gets back in the truck from pumping gas our whole family try’s to guess what the dollar amount is! Kinda funny.. thanks for all the great videos!
I’ve always wanted to visit Mackinaw Island. I remember my mom watching the movie Somewhere in Time which was filmed at the main hotel there. So pretty!
Come on Craig! What kind of a pickup driver are you anyway? We alway BACK into our parking spots! Get with the program or you need to get a Yugo! Look it up! 😉
Hey, y'all, once again, great video. I like to use my RV bathroom on travel days. What's the point of having your own bathroom if you don't use it? 🤔😂🤣😂🤔
We use our own bathroom. We also stayed at Mackinaw Mill Creek in August with the Switch it Up huddle. It was a great RV park. Sitting around the fire pits near the lakeshore was awesome. We have plans to visit the U P area again to see the things we missed
Just began watching you guys... Love the energy and the honesty... Question... What pole are you using for Starlink? You guys are so lucky living in a RV, I respect your life choice. Be safe!
At 17:09 you were in Port Sanilac, and when you turned left, I guessed Forester Park. I think I passed you this past weekend. I remember, because I was like Holy Stuff, that's a Brinkley. They're freaking awesome.
Biking Mackinac Island is much better than eating the fudge. 😜🤣 But Mackinaw Mill Creek is a great campground. Good choice. 😉 We ALWAYS use our own clean bathroom. Except maybe at Buc-ees…. I’ll use those bathrooms. 😂
I bet you kind of miss the boondocking spots. How are the fuel prices out that way. The traveling long distances will definitely hit that budget. The Lake is huge! No rocks to climb out there?
Interesting, we cut down in the south east corner of Manitoba and through Chicago & Detroit to go to Toronto because it’s a few days less that way than going around Lake Superior. We have no issues going into Canada 😂 but had an interesting crossing in that SE corner (Warroad)…the American border dude asked us gruffly why we were in Brandon after asking where we were from (Alberta) my internal response was “because we’re allowed to move anywhere we want in Canada?”. Hubs told him (Mr. “I can make your day miserable”) that we had to go to a Mazda dealer. Still, 7 years later I’m still thinking that was a really weird question. How did he think we got to that spot? And why did it matter to him if we stayed overnight in Brandon?
I don't like public restrooms! Especially if they are dirty! I always prefer my own, I know whose cooties are on the toilet.😂 Love your videos. Safe travels❤
I'm hooked on watching you two. Don't change anything. Do you like your bike cover? I have 2 E Bikes on a Hollywood rack we carry behind a cabover camper. We struggled with covers that are open on the bottom. We finally settled on a Formosa because it's covered on the bottom. We're happy with it. Curious about yours.
Don’t know how far behind the videos are but if you need a place to stay in eastern Ontario you’re welcome to stop for a few nights, between Ottawa and Montreal.
We usually go inside the rest area because we travel in a camper van with small jugs for our DIY urine diverting toilet. We also like to check out the vending machines like Craig.
As far as the potty stop, we use our RV, good chance to look inside and make sure everything is secure. As far as the A/C soft start. That is to start the A/C and help lower the inrush amperage. It doesn't help on the overall amperage usage. The soft start gets it up to speed and then it closes a relay across the line. At least that is the case on the large motors that I work on with soft starts.
Ok I’ll play your game - I’ll use the gas station or rest area bathroom. Thanks for sharing. The subscriptions are a climbing! Good for you all. Safe travels.
I live in Dearborn Michigan and was glad to see you enjoyed our state and the great lakes. We have camped with our travel trailer in Mackinaw Mill Creek too.
in situations like that we wear light tee shirts and jackets so if it gets hot, we just take the jackets off. If its a dirty looking dot head gas station I use the camper other wise I go inside to the bathroom. We try to always stop at nice gas stations but sometimes you just have to get gas. Get that A/C before your warranty runs out .
The island is pretty cool, the fort, you can bike around the island lots of hiking. Plus the water is beautiful. I live 100 miles south in Traverse City. Believe it or not you been to Mackinac island as many times as I have 🤣
You need to rent and ride bikes on the island sometime. Lots of great photo ops and you can get away from the crowds of the downtown area. Maybe next time.
I ate at the same restaurant on Mackinaw Island this summer, but skipped the fudge. Next time you should rent bikes and ride around the island-whole different experience!
Our new RV A/c freezes up too. The reason is that inside the unit the separation between the cooled air and the warm air going in the intake has leaks, so the cool air gets passed back through the unit and gets colder. Currently waiting on a service appt to fix ours. But honestly its a supet easy fix to just do it yourself.
We always use our RV bathroom at rest stops. Much cleaner and safer. I lived in Charlevoix MI many years ago. Population of 3K during the winter, 30K during the summer. Murdock’s fudge in town was only open during the summer. So locals referred to the tourists as “fudgies”. 😂
It all depends…if the rest area looks sketchy then we go in our RV. If the rest are looks cool or interesting then we will walk inside and check it out.
Craig 3:10 First she yelled at you, then she gave you the lousy coffee. Reply with a sad face if you feel unsafe and need to be rescued. Smiley face if you're good.
I'm curious why you did not take your eBikes to the island. Where they not allowed? BTW, my wife uses the RV but I use the public toilets unless they are awful, which is often. Same as in a RV camp always use the RV toilets for #2. But if they are bad we use our clean RV toilet.
I love your channel and your adventures So did you learn to take navy showers yet lol and you can plug the shower drain and use the shower water to flush the toilet Same with using a plastic bowl in the sink to re use the dish water And heres a tip for boon docking thats shure to get peeps self destructing , as even the colorful language i leaned in grade 3 seems to bother You Tube and some peeps with all the gosh and darn it i hear on you tube reminds me of watching that nerd Batman in the 60s But we survived out houses for over a 1000 years so why not dig a 2 foot deep hole to dump your black tanks then fill it back in while boon docking and fertilize the soil
@openroading - what would you say the best time of the summer is to visit? (Since you were there all summer!) We did get pretty lucky with the weather and were there in early September but I would say we definitely should have visited on a weekday instead
July or August will give you the nicest temps! And you’ll avoid the awful midge flies that come in May-June. September can still have some nice days though and after Labor Day, crowds will go down drastically unless there is a special event. As for weekdays, Tuesday and Wednesday were the least ticket sale days at the campground. Oh, and if you take the first ferry out, you’ll have some time without the crowds. Most hop on the 9am ferry!
Why don't more full-time rvers show what they have to eat while traveling? Check the chains on the e bikes. You got them wt and the oil could be washing off. I don't want to hear that the chain got rusted.
When are you heading to Canada? We are about 25 minutes from the border if you need a place to overnight we have 30 Amp in our driveway we are about 40 south of Forester mi . Or if you have any questions about the area just let me know !
Great video, guys! Thanks so much for the shoutout! We are definitely RV bathroom people. 😂 Oh, and I have a tiny bit of the Ryba’s fudge left. Their recipe is my favorite and thanks to you both, we enjoyed our reminder of Michigan all the way through Minnesota!
We have a generator but we don’t need it most times with our solar system now. When it’s sunny out, our panels immediately put the power back into the batteries (this is the same system we had on the old RV that we used all throughout Baja, etc)
We were considering borrowing our friends’ (since they don’t allow e-bikes). I do think the bikes allow you to get a much better feel for the whole island
I have done this trip about 9 years ago not sure if it has changed but be prepared for many hours without cell phone coverage, but what a beautiful drive. Watch on the side of the road for Inukshuks! P.S. I use the rest stop facilities if the wife doesent have to go! Its much easier than opening and closing the trailer. Keep up with the great videos.
