They did spend quite a bit on everything. Finding a decent shop who will do an entire body in this colour is an endeavor in itself! Hope it finds a good home.
They didn't spend 100k, but you will of you want to buy it. You could have John Vargas build you an engine turbo kit and exhaust, find an ok body and clean it up and pick the mods of your choice for probably half that. No doubt that's probably a 15k plus paint job though. This could be done better. Still on stock radiator, needs an upgraded rad and v mount for the intercooler. I'm not in love with the wheels, but they aren't bad and that's super personal taste thing. The color is really good. Edit I've watched it all now. Stock diff and trans? Hacked together exhaust with overpriced greddy muffler. Cast manifold. Nice suspension parts but older. This is a far cry from 100k. First time you tracked it your going to lose transmission or differential or both. Lot of money in making it look good with the cf fenders and really nice paint and under coat, but it doesn't add up. May have gotten that much 2 years ago when car prices were way ridiculous, but it's a dated build and the really important stuff in the drivetrain is stock. 6.5 out of 10
@@philbert006 I wouldn't have put it at 6. It's done pretty decently. Yes, there are a few things that would annoy me. Especially if I"m going to use it as a street machine (which it should be regulated too since it's a vintage vehicle now). I'd be surprised if they do get 100g's for it. But it wouldn't surprise me either. I think it stands at a strongish 8 out of 10. There are many components there that are worth while, but still some arrangement that doesn't agree with me.
@@neoanderson7 that's fair. And I certainly won't tell you your opinion is wrong or anything like that. That's the joy of being yourself, you get to decide what you like. Really my biggest hang up on it is the dated parts. They were all nice stuff, 20 years ago. Car tech has come a long way, turbos, engine management, cooling, brakes and tires. I think for the same money you could build one with current stuff and have all the things you would want but newer, faster, more reliable. That being said, of they dropped the keys in my hand I would be all smiles and not a bad thing to say. And if you rolled up to show it off and it's your dream ride, congratulations, take me for a spin!
Man I have blue Miata and plan the engine swap to a 13b turbo. Then plan to source a fd and get it painted the same color. You really brought my dream car to life
@@RADPotential I have seen it!! There was something off on that Dyno!! No way that car makes that power at 15psi with a 7670!! I have the same turbo and almost the exact same setup and on E85 at 22psi I make 425hp/ lucky 7s FC with large street port/4in exhaust/e85 made just over 450 at 24psi. Sorry that turbo can not make that HP at that boost on a rotary. Not going to happen. Go run it down the track and post up the MPH. If the HP is correct and that car is around 2900 with driver it should trap 120-124.
This FD is one for the books. No doubt. Even dig the Papa Smurf color. I’m so stoked that FD’s aren’t my jam cuz there’s no way in hell I could afford one. Hopefully I can continue to keep my beloved RX8 as stock and mint as it currently is, despite daily driving it. Can someone who can afford an FD please bankroll Erich so he can quit his cube farm job please. 🙏 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
I don't like the idea of the fuel pressure regulator sitting above the downpipe. Even if radiant heat isn't a problem during normal operation, I'm concerned what would happen if there were fuel leaks so close to the hottest parts of the engine bay.
I've always found power steering to be overrated and overvalued. Yes, almost any non-power steering car will feel heavy in parking lots but once you get to 10 mph there is very little difference in effort required while giving you an massive increase in feel and feedback of what's going on with the front tires. Not to mention the weight savings and increase in reliability but reducing complexity.
@@RADPotential wtf....I must not have been getting your new video notifications. I can see now that everything you've recently posted has been about the RADX7. Well lucky for me I have a ton of videos to catch up on!!
Can you hire an ice blaster to tackle the underside? It is very custom, hope you find the person that fits this car. For me personally it would have to be completely stock, oh and 2002 spirit r type A. Then if I'm shelling 100g there maybe a few cars ahead of this, including GTR, R8, XKE, Detomaso Pantera ....... I could go on.
