Ben Simmons was easily one of the top players in the league for 3 or 4 years before he started to have problems. Had he just decided to work on his game and not doubt himself he wouldn’t be where he is today. He deserved the hype.

Ben was never on a lebron like trajectory. Despite lebron's lack of range early in his career he still worked on it and kept growing as a player. If I'm being honest, I always thought he was more Blake Griffin like than lebron when he first came into the league.

A counter point is, him being so tall could lead to refs thinking that a smaller player hitting him shouldn't do much damage so they let the contact happen more. Remember Shaq, Yao Ming and LeBron have said that their size makes it look like you can handle that contact and the refs don't call everything. We'll see
