One way mirrors are a misnomer. They're fairly reflective and less see-through on both sides. The one-sidedness comes from the different lighting in the two rooms, where the "see-through" one is dark, such that it perceives less reflections and doesn't let a lot through, and the "reflective" one is well lit, such that its reflections are stronger than the dark room's passing light (giving it the look of a weird mirror), and the passing light is stronger than the dark room's reflections (giving it the look of a weird window).

I think it's when and how Gavin asked the question that started the confusion, not the phrase itself. Loathe as I am to side with Andrew, he already said "I went to grab it from the guy" and I think Andrew and Eric thought that part didn't need the clarification that Gavin was asking for.

@@TilfordMthe uniquely British thing is to replace from with off of which is grammatically problematic but quite prevalent. Of course it works both ways, I have recently become quite frustrated by the amount of can I gets I hear. The answer to this being no you can’t that’s their job but you can definitely have

@@TilfordM I’m American and I’ve heard it my entire life. “Can I take that off your hands?” “I bought this table off some guy on the side of the road.” Using the word “off” in the sense of “taking something from someone” is like… crazy common. I feel like misunderstanding this would be similar to misunderstanding the phrase “hand me that thing over there” because you don’t understand how “hand” could be a verb.

I like how Andrew says “They never focus on how they pay the bills!” When Denzel Washington, the actor he originally picked for the game, stars in John Q. The main problem of the whole movie being him not being able to pay for his son’s medical bills. 😂

Get a privacy fence about 7 foot tall put a small camera in it pointing out to the street, then on your side of the fence a screen that is a live feed of the camera. Boom, a fence you can see through but to the outside world looks like an ordinary fence.

One of my parents' neighbors has this "no dog waste" alarm system in their yard. You walk past a laser trigger and it sets off a dog-whistle noise (which I can hear and it drives me crazy because it's like a needle piercing my ear drums)

worst sound for me is any high pitched noise that feels like it pierces your brain. been trying to get into Bob Dylan recently and his songs will be so good and then BOOM highest pitched note you've ever heard played on a harmonica and held for 10 seconds straight, giving you an immediate headache

My least favorite sounds include certain destiny sound queues mostly weapons, but some supers as well. Crying babies. Screaming dogs or cats that are terrified or in pain. Thats really hard to sit through. Really anyone screaming out in extreme pain. Default alarm sound on samsung devices. The snoring pattern of my father. The smoke alarm dead battery chime. Ppl in arguments talking over each other. When cats meow with a deep voice that comes from the back of the throat. Usually cats in heat. Heavy machinery.

10-11 is what I would consider standard in the US. Just like 5' 9" to 6' 1" is the "standard" range for men for height in the US.

Well that's inaccurate. That would be the hottest we've ever been on the island. You sacrificed that regulation listener status to be wrong. That's unfortunate. To add a little context, I'm about 40 minutes drive from Nanaimo and it is currently 11°c, just 4° above being able to see your breath.

Yeah I was just gonna leave it be, but 49-79°f translates to exactly the type of weather we have on the island in Celsius. Summers are between 6°c at night to like 33°c or so at peak. But it really doesn't matter much. What I called the legend turns out to be a toggle, tap the f or c to see the correlating temps.
