It seemed like the cows didn't know what to think of us! It was pretty wild camping where they can just roam around. We have a compass in the van. It probably wouldn't be a bad idea to carry one with us but I'm not sure that would have helped in this situation. We could see pretty far but just couldn't figure out which trails were right! We ran into someone else having the same trouble. It was such a great place to visit! We absolutely loved it!
Long time stalker, first time commenter. :) This is Eric Wenger, remembering our long-ago days at Messiah! Just wanted to say it's fun to live vicariously thru you guys! I enjoy seeing the camera work/planning you did to create sequences like 14:08 to 14:22, not to mention the quality captions added throughout! Your editing just keeps getting better! Happy travels! ~ Eric & Kristin
Thank you, Eric! ❤️ That really means so much. We're glad you enjoy the videos and appreciate you taking time to comment! I fondly remember MCSA days! 🙂
We love it too! We can actually go several weeks before we need to dump it and we don't smell anything. We also just use regular kitchen trash bags, which might be significantly cheaper than the refill bags they sell.
Driving on this road sounded like driving on one cylinder 😆 That Antilope sighting was really cool. I like this Pawnee National Grassland preserve really cool landscape. I remember traveling through this area on Amtrak, it's so different compared with Florida. I'm planning to travel through Colorado again this summer on my Amtrak and bike travels. Thanks for sharing Colorado, looking forward to Wyoming 👍
Driving out there to the middle of pretty much nowhere on such bumpy roads was quite a crazy experience - and so very different than Florida indeed! There were some birds making some beautiful sounds but I wasn't able to identify them. It really was so cool there. I don't think you'd do too well on your bike though! 😆
Awesome video guys and so glad yall made it , the views are amazing ! L9ve those sunflowers 🌻 and that wind was coming else lol! Awesome trail too , you guys rock! Thanks for sharing! Can't wait to see tge next one ! Stay safe!
Thank you! We loved this experience SO much! And also loved the flowers!!! Hopefully it wasn't too annoying hearing the wind while you watched. It was quite windy there! More fun coming up! See you "next time!"
Look up prairie dog vacuum. Those little guys get into high traffic areas and they have to remove them sometimes….and relocate. Your trip Looks fun y’all
This was great! Can not wait to see what adventures are to come in the west. Currently planning my next big adventure that way beginning in April. Also....they're called oil "derricks" 😂😂
Oh my goodness, did we love it!!!! Would love to hear what your travel plans will be. We're going to have to go back to some of your past videos for some inspiration when doing our planning. We actually had never looked up the oil "thingies" so now we know! Thanks for educating us!
Thanks so much, Vasyl! Yes, you are right. An app is a very good idea. I do have Alltrails downloaded. Need to use it more, especially in an areas where it's not so flat you and you can't see for miles. Here, we always knew how to get back, just not where the proper trail was! It can be fun exploring other side trails though. More adventure indeed! Thanks for following along on our adventures!
We don't remember seeing any speed limit signs once we were on the dirt roads but we definitely didn't go that fast. Our whole van would have fallen apart at that speed! 🤣
Two cats? We started van life with two cats and they adjusted really well. Now we have just the one and she does great. As you can see in the video, she didn't even seem to mind the bumpy road too much! 😆
Not really! We think you'd be able to easily see if there was a snake on the path and when we weren't on the path, we kept an eye on where we are walking. Maybe we should be more worried? 😆
@SteveAudra Safety Sue thinks you should. And what if one of you sprained an ankle? Maybe having walking sticks could help you with snakes, and if you sprained an ankle. I'm just looking out. XO
@@smasenheimer1 We love Safety Sue! ❤️ I would actually like to get walking sticks. We do carry bandages and other supplies in our bag in case of any injuries, etc.
So you just casually strike out across the prairie without a care for rattlesnakes? Interesting. Cattle, not cows. Cows would infer that they are all female.
Noted on cattle vs cows. That's probably a habit developed from having family with a dairy farm where it was only females so I always automatically think "cows." Any suggestions on precautions to take when hiking in the prairie?
@@SteveAudra First, be very observant. Second, I'd guess you need to protect your feet and legs with more than athletic shoes. I live in town, but had farmer cousins in the Nebraska panhandle, whom I would visit every summer. My mother's family were homesteaders in the Kimball/Dix area. Thanks for the reply and for all the effort you put into producing your videos!
