This is a great idea! Maybe we’ll do that 🙂 We would definitely do it again! We didn’t ride that much in the grand scheme of biking before Ragbrai so we’d definitely want to do that before doing it again just to help. We’d also probably do more research into possible places for the van to get water so that we could take a couple more showers without paying for it every time. We would for sure take the van and have a support vehicle again because that was VERY helpful! I’m sure there’s other things that I can’t think of right now but maybe we will make a recap video, that’s a good idea! 😃 Thank you for watching and commenting!

@@MKandTJ first ragbrai. First ride over 25 miles in a day. First ride over multiple consecutive days… Well, the training for ragbrai is going to change the last two.. I did 25 miles yesterday, and hopefully the same or more today..

@@axlent123 That is so awesome, that is literally where we were this time last year. How did today go?

Wow, thank you! On our bikes, we had a water bottle holder, a bag that attached to the top tube and hung under it to hold snacks and tire fixing parts. Then we also had a small bag that sat on top of the top tube so we could put our phones there.

@MK and TJ i am interested in how many cogs in the front crank and rear cogs. Some bikes are much more favorable to hills and others flats based on the gears.

My cranks are 53/42 and my 7 speed are 26-13 cassette. A normal crank would be 50/34, racing 52/36 and a time trial 53/39......so my bike would be brutal on hills without changing crank and cassettes to lower number cogs. So proud of you both for pushing thru such a hard ride.

Another suggestion is watch a video on bike fit as adjusting the seat forward a cm or 2 can play a huge part in pressure on your hands, shoulders, knee soreness ect.

We actually trained very little 😬 it probably would have been a little more enjoyable if we did the recommended training but it was still such a good time! Before we did RAGBRAI the furthest we rode was 70 miles at one time. We for sure weren’t biking every week.

@MK and TJ my plan right now is to ride the 50th. Looking forward to the route announcement on Jan 28th. Also including an out and back ride on the Mickelson in June as part of my training. Looking forward to that.

@Mark Putnam i live in canada and am from iowa as a teen. I signed up for the 50th and am hoping to make it as well. They are expecting around 50,000 riders to partake at some point. The thoughts was 30,000 partook in 2022 (including pirates and day riders).

@Mark Putnam i have lots of camping gear, but I am planning on leaving the tent at home and using pork belly ventures. If you are planning on using a charter service, just know they sell out fast after the announcement route day (hours to days). There will be some cancelations after a month or two, but they go fast as well.
