Top bloke great video, can't wait for the follow ups. Its always good when you don't have to search out answers, like the Plato video, which I watch at least once a week, Mike can talk at length and with enthusiasm
Yes the Plato upload was good, I had just finished reading Plato’s autobiography that’s one amazing book, the things he got up to just would not happen today, Amazing driver also
Brewer's enthusiasm and passion is infectious. Look up his history, achievements, awards and he's really quite a modest guy. Can't wait for the Idol Chat. Glad I don't have to edit it as Mike's story could go on for hours and hours.
I have to say that until now I have been unsure about Mike Brewer but thank you Jonny for showing me a different person. A brilliant vid and sincere thanks to both of you. More please from both of you, you make a great team.
@@gillie-monger9094 what cars has Anstead built that have fetched world record prices? He’s no Foose, Kindig or Tempero. Priestly was not an F1 engineer he was an F1 mechanic, there’s a world of difference between those positions, I like him, I like him a lot more than Anstead. I couldn’t give a monkeys if Brewer came or left, I watch the show but fast forward of his antics which detract from the show, the show is about fixing cars, the mechanics are the stars whilst Brewer tries to be a comedian. Car SOS is the same Fuzz is the star that long streak of piss Tim is unnecessary and could be replaced by a monkey, just like Brewer.
@@gillie-monger9094 I’ve meet wombats with better reading comprehension than you. I’m not pro China I pointed out that Wheeler Dealers is all about the mechanic, hence why they looked at Foose, Mike could fuck off and the show could continue without him and be a better show. Anstead is not that amazing a car builder, Foose, Kindig those guys are world renowned car builders, Eagle is a world rebounded car builder, and if you really want your socks blown off look up Rod Tempero, what he builds it beyond compare.
@@MasterChief37 'Apparently' though Ed was the diva......because he's such a distinguished master mechanic he was far more demanding of the show. Source ? Friends brother is/was the producer
Great episode, genuinely didn’t realise Mike was such a petrol head outside of TV, I always thought he was more of a tv presenter. Fair play ! Thoroughly enjoyed this one 👍🏻
Mike likes RC as well. Back when the Sandown Model Symposium used to be held annually, Mike came every year. I used to work at the show and he would love a chat with me about the RC aircraft on our magazine stand where we had some impressive models.
Really good episode. Love how Johnny actually listens to his guests not just waiting for them to finish and move on. Also i think with this show, not car people can maybe start to understand why we love and get attached to certain cars
@@kyle-rj3vy what he did to others should not concern us one bit ....except a few like u who love to hold a grudge on someone u never met . Well done left brainer .
Love to hear Mike talk about that Cooper S. If you've never driven an original mini you just need to to understand. They are proof that you don't need to drive fast to have fun. The most charactful cars ever made
Another unique and fascinating look behind the scenes. It makes sense that Mike Brewer would have some nice rides, and this video was a great walk-through. By far one of my favorite celebrity garage tours.
I just love the way Mike is still a wheeler dealer at heart, keeping quiet to her in doors about how many “babies” he has, but Mike should know wives know everything
I recognise that Ford Raptor. Mike parked it behind the pitlane at Silverstone classic 2021, in one of the lanes made especially for the race cars to filter in and out to get to the pitlane. We couldn't get our car out for a while
Best thing about Mike Brewer and WD is that he showcases all these tiny workshops in the UK, where you can get anything repaired or made. We get told that we import everything from China but that is absolutely not the case and you don't have to go to the main dealers and get ripped off. The UK is still a centre of engineering excellence.
Well said but it shame that our government have been sell outs for last 50 years and it left too small companies that are feeling the squeeze with the cost of energy etc! But yes he has showcased some excellent contacts for anyone repairing classic cars with no longe available parts there is hope some companies that can help!
Two of the most likable and fun guys to watch in the motoring content space. Let’s see a Wheeler Dealer + LBS Garage find combo. Uncover, revive, flip!
Mike is just as passionate about cars as a lot of other people, however, the difference is, he has such an amazing attention to detail that highlights his dedication and pride which is something that’s sadly lost these days. I could listen to him for hours.
On the opening credits the shots of this garage reminded me on a 1/18 scale diorama scene , fantastic collection and Mike is a genuinely great guy, met him at Race retro 2023 and he was more than happy to stop for a chat, and a photo deserves all the success he has strived for and is receiving - that MGA is something else
Mike's comments about the mini are absolutely bang on. Our (newer) 91 mini cooper is the only car that has ever made me laugh out loud, at the same time as my head bounced off the roof, due to the insane speed it was possible to carry through bends and on a bumpy road. My wife following, and unable to keep up in a modern saloon, literally couldn't believe her eyes. It's been off the road now for a decade but we can't part with it. As for that MGA, wow, absolutely beautiful and re-engineered properly too.
MGA, I remember the very first one I saw in Germany, in 1963, when I was 13 years old. A GI had it in the building where we lived in a little German village. When it appeared, I looked it over closely and saw the little oval vents on the hood and the Twin Cam badge. Had to ask the owner what a twin cam was and he did answer but don't remember what he said. Always remembered that car though.
Love Mike Brewer. He’s just a genuine old school car enthusiast! It’s amazing to see, love the story about the MG. I reckon the old guy would be proper chuffed about what the cars like now. As for my favourite, it would have to be the red Porsche 911 3.0 SC.
Great video, loved seeing his collection. You can tell how much of a real car guy he is by this collection and how much he loves talking about them. I have seen him at a car show before and was a really nice chap and had all the time in the world to chat to people, he really deserves all his success and is top bloke.
my favourite car collection yet by far on this channel. amazing!! an early 928 is top of the tree for me. car of the year 1978.. the design still floors me
Great episode. I think Mike came across really well, can't wait for the idol chat. I not saying he doesn't in his own shows, but that's what they are... Shows. This just seemed more natural and real. Top work! Oh, and a great collection.
@Tom Kitchen you don't get that far in life by being a dope , good business skills and decisions hard work and lots of bottle. A dope is someone who's a bit useless and doesn't do much with there life !!
Great stories and great cars. That MGA is especially beautiful. I would love every single of the cars in the garage ("cathedral") but the MGA is pure class. And how about that colour! Amazing.
That was an awesome video, thanks Jonny and Mike. Seeing Mike in a totally different light, his passion and real "common man" approach is awesome.... yeah he has made money and is buying stuff which majority can't afford, but he keeping true to his roots!!
Never have been a big fan of Mr Brewer it's always, look at me and what I have, and if I stop talking I will ask about you !!!!!!!!!! Ed China different story altogether, down to earth sensible bloke and a top mechanic. Wheeler Dealer the series as far as I am concerned, finished when he left the show 👍👍
Cannot agree more - the man is a weasel for how he completely screwed over Ed, just so he could get more camera time and money. Mike would not know the meaning of loyalty and friendship if it slapped him.
Not sure how Brewer ever made a career out of selling cars. From watching many wheeler dealers, he’d buy shit boxes, Ed China would do all the graft, Brewer would turn up at the end, get offered half what he’d advertised the cars for. He’d then say “put your hand out” and shake on a deal making him 50 pence profit, which doesn’t include the cost of Ed China’s hard work. I don’t understand it.
Brilliant - love MB been following him since his first ever show "Deals on Wheels"... also met him at the NEC in 2007 (?) when he picked me out of the audience, where I was exhibiting my AC ACE 2.6. What a genuinely wonderful humand being. Mike inspired me, such that I have owned and restored 26 classic cars and motorcyles - BIG THANKS MIKE! And thank you Johnny, you are also a fantastic presenter whom I follow - keep up the great show :-)
I'm an American who is new to this channel, but I do watch a lot of car content from overseas, so I am well aware of Mike. But this video made me love him even more. Old out ya hand!
Mike, Mike... You're only half-right on the 912E. It's a 1976 model year, not 74. The engine used was the 2-liter from the later 914, not the Bus. (Check the cylinder heads versus Bus heads.) The fuel injection was based on that used in the US-spec 1.8 liter 914, which did start in the 74 model year, but most of the FI parts are unique to the 912E. The 912E was made as a stop-gap entry-level car after the 914 was done, and before the 924 was introduced. The "E" stands for "Einspritz", which basically means "fuel injected".
Ive watched wheelers since the early series and it is great to see the SERIOUS side of Mike. he is a font of knowledge and inspiration. Ive had 106 cars… or 107? One wife! Thanks
A well paced (casual and natural) chat with Mike. Great to see “some” of Mike’s vehicles. I know Mike has people that don’t like him, at least when hiding behind a keyboard, but I met him on Saturday at the CCA auction and chatted with him about a car for sale that had featured on the show (and I ultimately purchased) and he was very much a down to earth petrolhead that gave me his time. Good video.
That was a very special interview, well done!! One of the things I liked about WD was Mike's visits to small niche workshops where things were being made like the visit to the factory reproducing Jensen panels using original tooling or where they were making the wooden structure for the Morris Minor Travellers. Of the cars on show I liked the little MG because of the story and the Rapster, in this case because my nephew has one and you are seriously high up in one of those Good luck from Spain!!
Great video as always, lovely to have a glimpse into Mike’s world after so many years watching him on WD. Hard to pick between the mini and the transit for me…
I remember meeting Mike a few years ago at a car show in London, and despite all of his various presentations and appointments that day - he still took time and showed interest in some quick car chat. I think a lot of people tend to misunderstand him, seems a thoroughly good chap to me.
This is the best one yet. I know that Mike is fine with talking on camera etc but he was very different on how he spoke & described each car with such great passion. As another Mini fan-boy my favourite car has to be the lovely little Cooper S. Mini's still have such appeal. I just recently told a guy at work about the time I drove my then brand new Rover Mini Cooper(RSP) one of the first 1000 re-released down to Brighton to have the "S" conversion pack fitter. 9hours from Glasgow with a 4 speed box was an adventure. Even more so as I got to meet thee "John Cooper" himself & have a little yarn.
This is a fantastic episode 👏 🙌 I could listen to mikes stories all day long such a very wonderful and unique collection of cars and totally love the stories behind them all.
I met Mike at a cars and coffee event at the Dowsetts Classic Cars workshop (business founded by Ant). Ant & Elvis were also there and I got a chance to speak to Mike after their chat to the crowd. What a great bloke - had time for everyone who wanted to talk to him and gave me some advice on the Alfa Giulia Veloce that I was considering (which I have since purchased). Seeing Mike leave the event in a cloud of dust as gave the red 911 a bootful on the gravel made my day!
Mike an amazing guy. While growing up in a small village in north of Pakistan back when I was in my teens, I bought a dish tv (which was too expensive for me at that point) only to watch his show. Thank you Mike for wheeler dealers
When he said he couldn't just take the car for free from the fellow in California and donated $10k to the guys charity of choice, then I knew Mike is a genuinely decent human. Good on ya Mr Brewer! Oh and please do that reunion show with Anton and Ed please. Cheers!
My dream car is also a Mk 1 mini Cooper, but I prefer the 1275. Great video as usual, i have always liked Mike, and now I have a friend who works with him, really good bloke by all accounts, which is always good to heard about TV people you admire!
Mike's collection is heartwarming; some really interesting marques, each of which obviously means a lot to him. The Ford van, Mini and brown 928 had me drooling and look better for a bit of real-life dust! Great tour, thank you.
I used to see that gold 928 in the Maidstone area circa 2005/6. It lived in a small village near Lenham. Recognised it as the wheeler dealer car and always kept an eye out for it.
Edd hasn't exactly got a bad workshop now has he! I like Mike and Edd and follow Edd still and his workshop is 100 percent bigger and better than Mike's so and if you look in the background he has a lot of stock in there!
Edd cars might not be worth as much but in reality Edd could literally sell what he has and buy pretty much what Mike had here as projects and rebuild the lot in pretty good time and have the same Edds doing alright he isn't exactly poor now is he!
That was brilliant. I feel we all kind of know Mr. Brewer from his many television appearances. But this just showed a depth of knowledge and understanding of his subject that just doesn't come across on the progs that have him in there as the "Cockney geezer, dodgy dealer". Really lovely video.
22:00 funny - I drive a Defender 110 and I find that instead of abuse, people are actually _extra_ polite to me on the roads. I am let out of junctions more regularly, people happily give way to let me pass, and quite often people will come up to me to talk about my Land Rover. I never get _any_ abuse in it. Now, when I drive me regular runabout car, that's a totally different experience on the roads.
I have the same experiences whenever I drive mine, which is actually the rather sad looking one on the show. My wife and I managed a 2,204-mile European tour over three weeks last summer. Mike very generously offered to store it and suggested a repair shop, after my wife and I ran into some issues with the immobilizer in western Scotland. Now that she's running properly again, ( the Landy, not the wife), we can address the neglected bodywork and respray, although Mike suggests leaving it as is. I bought it from my sister in Wicklow after my Brother in Law sadly passed on. So I have a feeling we are going 'all in' on properly restoring the td5 Landy.
It has to be said, I feel like we've seen a human side to Mike, this is a lovely episode I think. I must've caught him on a bad day for the Pirelli Rally in Carlisle many years ago, I think!
@@mandalorian957 There weren't, and he seemed completely disinterested, which was sad for 9 year old me, who was always watching him on tv, Deals on Wheels and the early episodes of Wheeler Dealers!
@Earle - That was a shame. If you're having a bad day don't take it out on others, they don't know, not their fault and they might not care. You never want people to say that meeting you was a bad experience...
I've just watched this having seen an episode of Mike Brewers World of classic cars. So started digging a bit deeper. This video has put a whole new light on Mike Brewer for me. I thought he was just a loud mouthed 2nd hand motor deal done good. But this shows Mike as a caring knowledgeable enthusiast. Thank you for changing my opinion.
Brewer in his natural habitat is a joy to watch - he’s a really really enthusiastic about his cars and feels more genuine than the more scripted WD stuff! Really enjoyed this! And that 912 and the transit are beautiful! 🤩
Love the selection but mostly love the mini. I own a 65 Morris mini panel van. You are correct. The soul of a car is in the builders and restorers, drive and enjoy your cars.that is what they are built for
I don't understand why Mike Brewer gets so much hate on social media. The story of how he acquired the MGA alone is enough to appreciate he's both a genuine guy, and an enthusiast.
I hope Mike won't take offense at this, but he's come across to genuinely nice here, much more than his wheeler dealer shows. Nice to see what I believe to be his real side here. Great garage and tour!
Likes to talk about how busy he is and how much he owns. I couldn't give less of a toss. Meet plenty of blokes like this. They don't spot you've glazed over or have nothing to say about it that they don't already tell themselves in the mirror.
Great vid as usual, Jonny. MB is very watchable in this format, when he’s modest and knowledgeable and not encouraged to play to the camera like he does on WD
Fantastic video of Mike's cars. Wish we saw all of them though. Absolutely love watching wheeler dealers. Just love the passion for cars. I'm certainly the same
Excellent, too much negativity is written and said about Mike, however the reality is he’s worked had, done well and above all is still a TOTAL petrolhead.. and for me at least, that’s all we need to know!
I still can't warm to him, sorry. A ton of mistakes too, about cars he actually owns. His '84 'SC' that he mentions is actually a Carrera 3.2. His 912E isn't a '74, it's a '76, they were all '76. He's got some nice stuff, I should love him, I really should; he's a scooter boy, a poor boy made good, great taste in Porsches, but he just sets my teeth on edge. Maybe if he started pronouncing the letter 'L' I could try and make a new start with him
Just gotta disagree with Mike about EV's being the future...at the moment, even a off peak times, we rely on Norway, France, Belgium, Ireland and netherlands to supply the electric we need. If ALL petrol cars are banned in 2030(?) do you see the problem?!....P.S. Wind energy usually provides 2.5% of our needs....
Mike has a real passion for cars of all kinds and I think that really came across in the film, however I don't think anyone could describe him as a humble man. That's all I'll say.
After just watching this video and seeing how it SHOULD be done.... 2 blokes propper chattinh about cars and the motor world in general.... absolutely top work.... one talks the other listend and then thr other talks and Visa versa.... just pure brilliant.... we love johnny and mike anyway.... but this is just pure chemistry.... ❤ like the old topgear.... cars and the history of them.... thabk uou sooo much guys :):) xx pure brilliance.... :):)
Mike uses the royal "we" more than any other human alive (past or present) - including kings, queens or heads of state .. . It grates me worse than all the men out there who say "we're pregnant". No, you're not - your wife is, and Mike doesn't paint, restore or design anything. . Mike - I "designed" this color 🤣 The rest of the world - I choose/selected/picked this color
