In this video, I take you back to the true beginning of the New England Patriots dynasty. While many point to their first Super Bowl win, there's a key moment that set the stage for the years of dominance that followed. From a critical turning point in the franchise’s history to the leadership that changed everything, I’ll break down where the dynasty really began and how it shaped the NFL for decades. Whether you’re a Patriots fan or just love football history, this deep dive has all the insights you need. Let me know your thoughts in the comments! 🔵🔴🏈

I VCR'd most games that season (I only kept the wins!) and have watched them so many times. I'm almost interested to watch this but it sounds like you weren't even alive then, so, obviously you would have no insight to give me. Of course, Belichick came on as assistant Head Coach after their 0-2 start. And it wasn't just Bill the coach, it was all his scouting work he and his staff did in Cleveland the previous 5 years. Huge boost. But hopefully you give Parcells proper credit for helping build that dynasty defense. Defensive players on that 1996 team that also won a Super Bowl in 2001 are: Ty Law, Laywer Milloy, Otis Smith, Willie McGinnest, Ted Johnson, Tedi Bruschi. (Offensively it was just Troy and Drew, I think) That defense allowed just 9 points in 2 AFC playoff games. And that Pit team had just score 40+ the week before. And Jacksonville had scored 30 in back-to-back weeks, including against soon-to-be-mini-dynasty Denver. Tom Coughlin, who beat the Pats in the SB twice, was the coach of that Jags team (Belichick beat Tom twice as Parcells's assistant). Might be a good video to talk about Coughlin's upset wins against Notre Dame when he coach BC (that win took the national title away from ND) and that Jags win against a dominant Broncos team. It wasn't just the upset in SB 42. Coughlin's upsets began with that BC game. Not sure how many of you dang kids even know about that stuff: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AGZxKuv_IdQ.html Fun fact: North Attleboro's Chris Sullivan played for both that BC team that beat Notre Dame and for the 1996 Patriots team.

Yeah we’re 18 so this was a bit before our time, but we love the sport and love to learn about it. To be honest, the title and thumbnail are slightly clickbaity since we more were just doing an analysis of the 1996 season alone and not the time to follow. So yeah we’re just giving the research anyone can find nothing too too crazy

@@WTF_Sport I'm sure others will enjoy it. I've obsessed about that team. When all the parts offensively were healthy they really were tough to stop. And that Running Backs corps! HoFer Martin. Prototype H-Back in Byars. Prototype scat back in Megget. Tremendous run blocking FB with surprisingly good hands in Gash. If you watch those old games take note of how Terry Glenn never caught a ball with his feet on the ground. Bad habit but never able to break it. The bomb he caught in the Super Bowl that season - he didn't need to jump. He could have just run thru it and walked into the end zone - he had to jump on every catch. (Oh! I forgot Terry Glenn was on both 1996 and 2001 teams - though 2001 he was suspended for being a jackass midway thru.)

It was TB12 and without him there is no dynasty. Belichick's record as a head coach without Tom Brady is 85-102. They don't win anything without him and its showed, you're delusional if you think otherwise

@@thegreatrenaldo7718 Except, Bill Parcells never won a playoff game without Belhichick running his Defense. Guy's in the Hall of Fame as an NFL coach - never won a playoff game when Belichick wasn't DC. This is how delusional / ignorant you are to say it was all Brady: 2004 Div playoff game against a record-setting Colts offense. Manning threw for then record 49 TDs. The Colts scored 522 pts in the reg. season and then lit up a good Denver team for 49 w/ 530 yards of offense. It's not that Belichick's D held that Colts team to 3 points - 3! - it's that they did it despite having BOTH STARTING CORNERBACKS out with injury as well as All-World D Lineman Richard Seymour. Troy Brown played a significant number of snaps at CB against one of the greatest offensives of all time and they held them out of the endzone. How was Tom Brady involved in that? Brady threw for 144 yards - Pats ran for 210 = All Brady? Here's another thing to consider once you develop the ability to consider things: When Tom Brady broke the then-record for most consecutive passes w/o an Interception in 2010, the QB whose record he broke was Bernie Kosar - coached by none other than Bill Belichick. Brady became Brady BECAUSE OF Bill Belichick. Which is why he was drafted 199th. Sorry you can't understand that.

@@thegreatrenaldo7718 BTW, as far as Bill's record - that's a fancy stat you gut but personally I'm aware of the reality: He took over a very bad Browns team and back then you had to "rebuild" a team, you couldn't do this in a year. By 1994 Cleveland was one of the better teams in the NFL. Then in 95, the owner announced they were moving to Baltimore and the wheels fell off. No one with any knowledge of that situation thinks Belichick failed there. He also took over a very weak Patriots team. As far as post-Brady, even a few years after Tom left the Pats had the most dead money against the Cap than anyone in the NFL. They had to pay for their 4 SBs in 5 years run. Even Brady admits 2001-2006 was all Defense / Special Teams. The offense was the weakest unit on the team. But keep quoting your dumb stat thinking it's meaningful.
