The Nissan 370Z is a truly amazing car on the streets but on track, it has lots of shortcomings. from overheating to suspension issues. Will the 370Z make it through a track day at willow springs raceway?
You need tires , brakes , coils ..springs on a budget , sways, oil cooler and get some lighter wheels ...urethane mounts too ..track ready car my friend.
Yes!!!! Automatic transmissions are lackluster for the driving experience overall. Not to mention it takes away from the mechanical connection between the car and the driver.
Like other's said, some basic research would have turned up information on these cars issues with engine oil temps, transmission fluid temps as well as the fuel starvation. I completely disagree that a stock 370z is a terrible track car. Take care of the oil cooling, upgrade your fluids to high temp ones. Ditch the wing and the 20" wheels and you should be able to do well under 1:30 easily at streets of willow.
Transmission cooler, or plan on a $3-$8k bill you won't want. Oil cooler is also a must have, but that transmission is a MAJOR liability without a separate cooler.
Why do car owners always blame the var for the way they drive, ever thought that it is the DRIVER that is CRAPPY 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️💩.........
Looking back I'm surprised you didn't do another track video with some improved mods to your golden z. Instead you traded it in for a jag. Wonder what happened there. Also curious what your thoughts of the 2021 Z Proto with the new Twin turbo v6 rated at a base 400HP. Not sure if this motor comes with an oil cooler factory but could be worth covering in your channel especially a nismo verson. That is if you're still a Z fan.
Some research before you purchase any car would be good advise for you. It’s a known issue since it came out. Should have been installed well before your first track day.
Aftermarket oil cooler will fix those temp issues. Also a full suspension kit on these Zs cost a fortune. Coilovers are the way to go for budget and there are some great performance options for a 370z. Should also point out that a manual 6spd 370z would be far more superior than your AT 370z. But a switch again costs a fortune! haha 😂 You can also look at getting better grip tyres Have you also considered getting sway bars? Another great cheap mod that greatly improves our Zs already superior cornering abilities If you want more BHP gains on your Z the 4 easiest mods: - Exhaust - Straight pipes (HFC/test pipes) - Header - Intake So I guess the bottom line here is how much $$$$ are you willing to throw down just to make this 370z more track ready. The custom oil cooler mod is more than enough imo just to have fun on track. Then you can hit full revs all day!
Also forgot to mention. Sharp right hand turn screws up the throttle. The gas pumps isnt located properly in the tank. So when you do fast sharp right turns the throttle response goes away. ALWAYS lap with a tank full of gas with a 370z.
It needs an oil cooler like most cars do. The difference is you have an oil temp guage and you can see it overheating unlike many cars. An oil cooler, track brake pads, and fluid change is all you need to make it a great car. Beyond that it's the driver that needs upgrades, not the car.
I got a 25 row oil cooler and I'm running distilled water and redline water wetter and it cools beautifully, I have a 6 speed manual younhaving the auto you need a big ass trans cooler.
get rid of that exhaust....how are you not exceeding noise limit....ive seen 370z giving faster cars problems. You need a Nismo or tune plus suspension upgrades and oil cooler
Cars r junk auto or stick too heavy b a true sports car these things suck should made it like miata light weight then these would b top sellers but heavy n slow no no no
Bad drivers complain about the car, good drivers drive around the car. However an autobox 370z is probably not the best start for a track car heavier, slower, slower to change gear, less control, can't use the clutch to pivot the car or change direction quickly if needs be.
It was so dope hanging out with you on Z day... Im so glad I never took my Z to the track tho after seeing this. it definitely needs an oil cooler for racing.
