There's actually a short fable about elephants and crocodiles called "How elephants got their trunk?" In the fairy-tale, elephants had short trunks. An elephant calf asked his father what do crocodiles eat and his dad forbid his son to mention crocodiles again. The rebellious calf wanders off into a swamp to ask a crocodile about his appetite. The crocodile bites onto the calf's trunk and pulled it so hard, the nose stretched. The calf manged to escape and now has the iconic long trunk. 🐘🐊
Living in South Africa, it's closer to nature even though there are cities and most people havent seen Lions roaming around, I've heard stories from adults as a kid about jot messing with elephants, a person who bullies or tortures an elephant when it is powerless and comes back to meet it many years later suffers a very terrible death at that elephants hand... Apparently they will remember you very well even if you've aged and it will pay revenge
I’m from Zambia must say I’m proud we featured in one of these videos. I’m such a huge fan of the channel. Fun fact 1/3 of Zambia is covered in National parks, South Luangwa being home to the widest variety of flora and fauna
With the whole revenge thing, I went to a game reserve in South Africa and the tour guide told me the reason that there are no rhinos in that part of the game reserve was because the elephants killed then. A male elephant used to get bullied by the rhinos and then when it grew up, it killed them
Video definitely requires correction of mismatch here - either the onscreen number or the soundtrack - as credibility is otherwise seriously impaired !
I don't know if I'd just pass off the attack as "just a trunk injury". That trunk not only aids in so much of the elephant's daily life, but it is also comparable to the human hand in terms of receptors and near the nose is comparable to human fingertips in terms of sensory capability. That much force on such a sensitive appendage...just imagine driving several nails into one fingertip while someone is trying to dislocate your finger. That said the understanding of pain in animals is still largely unkown because...well they can't tell us. Edit: I'd recommend any nonce to postpone typing that I should have waited, if you look at the first comment you will see me admit my mistake. You only look dumber if you respond as such.
Ye but what about someone very huge and heavy with op muscle power in legs stomps u on stomach or back Uhhh u won't die that soon U will have to suffer a few seconds uhh but ye I am from elephant gang IN this matter
yes thats a big deal for an elephant... they pick food off trees and the ground to eat using their trunk...without a truck it will stave imo...unless other elephants help him..
Here's a moment to be proud of myself... I heard about the dead elephants in Botswana, did a peck of research to see what they had found (nothing at that point but tox reports and autopsies), and my hypothesis was toxic algae encouraged to grow in high-traffic watering holes, as high traffic would introduce more bacteria and variety of microorganisms to live, potentially thrive, and most certainly be prey for other microbes. So, I was at least very close! Nonetheless, very sad for our elephant population, and if they're anything like the wild horses of America, that's incredibly sad for the unique genetics of that particular herd, or the herds of that region which were affected. 300+ is a LOT for a single, endangered species to lose!
The trunk on a fully grown elephant is not the tender appendage that it is on a baby elephant. American big game hunter and writer Peter Hathaway Capstick describes it as being a precision instrument and a giant bullwhip at the same time. The way matters stand (and have stood for the past tens of thousands of years) in the animal kingdom, there is no extant animal capable of ripping the trunk clean off of an adult elephant, and we have reason to doubt that the crocodiles clamping down on elephant trunks with the hardest bite in the animal kingdom as described in the video above have caused more than superficial damage.
Yes no animal in this world can rip an adult elephant trunk .. Even if someone removed a 2 feet of elephant trunk they could eat or drink water to make elephant Starve you have to remove whole elephant trunk
In Hindu mythology, there is even a story where the same thing happen between a croc and a elephant. Only difference the croc wont let go of the elephant
As a subscriber from Zambia, I'm happy my country is mentioned @ 0:39 😁...you should all visit Zambia, the people, wildlife, scenery, Victoria falls are all beautiful. & I've seen so many documentaries on national geographic channel done from South Luangwa national park😊 this is beautiful 🇿🇲
If I’m not mistaken, in ancient times when elephants were used for war the trunk was very heavily armored with mail and metal plates to prevent injury.
Thank you so much. I really enjoy your channel. Probably the best nature channel on RU-vid. You can tell how much you put in to it. It's a service to mankind.
I doubt elephants are throwing crocodiles in trees but I once saw a picture of a jaguar dragging a alligator up in trees maybe the guy just happened to see a elephant around when he saw the alligator and assume the elephant put it there
Elephant can trow motorbike, and a three wheel vehicle in India, so it is possible for the elephant to throw a crocodile, a picture where the crocodile bite the trunk, the elephant was able to lift it, but Jaguar is in South America and not in Africa, so i think you comparing two different species of mammals from different continent, of course it’s jaguar who put the crocodile there, not by the elephant, because no elephants ever live in South America
Man the power of the elephant to just lift that 13 feet croc and slam and shake it like a rag doll. The croc must of sustained major injuries and is probably lucky to be alive. That's why every animal in Africa fears the power of the elephant.
Can u please show both, metric and imperial system in your future videos? Would be nice for all the people outside of America to watch and understand it immediately.
If megalodon shark comes these two animals will be in megalodon stomach. Elephant:iam strongest Crocodile:nice nose man let me have it Megalodon:time to have lunch yomyom yom yommy ✊ croco+elephant.
Send me to Africa I can tell the elephants how to be careful when crossing the river Me: Ok class (interpretive body language) (Flashcards) (Apache Dance) (Giant graduation hats) (Shaman dance) (River dance)
What about like balto Elephant as bear Croc as Balto the wolf A giant elephant may crush a crocodile with his trunk, and elephant chasing a crocodile, or the elephant hits a crocodile with his trunk and drops into the Arctic Giant Rivers And the Crocodile my die in the arctic river from an elephant Crocs Fights with a Giant Elephant
No it's currently deinosuchus though neither are Crocs Deinosuchus is a alligator and sarcosuchus is a crocodilamorph. None of the top 3 largest crocodilians are crocodiles
We have heavy-duty wire fencing in Florida. It's called hurricane fence and the wire is very thick and rigid. I have seen an alligator climbing a 6 foot tall hurricane fence to get to a swimming pool from the river. Some of them can climb higher hurricane fences unless they're 12 feet or longer. Those gators are so heavy (250-400 lbs) that the fence can bend under their weight. When that ocvurs they just climb over the downed barrier.
I don't think the elephants will throw a croc on a tree. It's most likely a leopard. They seem to like eating crocs and they take their prey high up the trees 🌲
Crocs on trees I'm sure they had huge leopards back in the 18th century that easily could've took them up there.. they do it in the Pantanal all the time
@@TheBestEver1998 Their teeth actually cannot, nor their bite force. they are only the strongest bite among mammals, but still 200 kg behind from even Mississippian alligators. They might trample small ones to death.
Crocodiles and there relatives look so much like apex predators rather than me so predators, because crocodiles looks so tough and strong, and even the baby crocodilians look as tough as the adults and there’s almost just no way to eat it without choking to death.
