This is a form of cognitive dissonance that happens in all religious and spiritual beliefs. Religious people can have a clash of world views if they know that a true believer was able to leave the faith, so their brain justifies it by believing that everyone that left was never a true believer. It has been very healthy for me to listen to apostates of my faith and come to terms that their experiences and thoughts are often true and valid. I can learn so much about the flaws in the current construction of my faith and it opens the doors for me to study more rabbinic opinions I may not have even thought to look into.

I was a Muslim, but when I started to deep drive into that religion I realised that I don’t want to be a Muslim, and now current Muslims think that I left Islam because of my lack of knowledge, but actually I know more than most of the Muslims about Islam. But since we have today governments with constitutional laws, there is no more need to be religious. When im really lost and dont know what to do with life,i make dua and say "allah please help me and show me what i should do" and then close my eyes and open a random page of the quran and read a random ayat. I do this three times and I usually have really reasonable answers.or you could just make dua saying "god" since you dont wanna be a muslim, asking to show the right path. It’s nice when you can chose to leave a religion and join another. Some people don’t have a choice to leave their religion. They have to remain as there is a larger risk to thier lives. So when they do actually leave the religion, they “shout about it” because to them leaving the religion seemed impossible for so long. Yes people who leave religion might not be practicing, but I’ve met many ex-Muslims who were practing and truly believed in everything. When they started experiencing doubts, they researched Islam truly to stay Muslim, but the more the researched, the more they found doubts and that’s what made them leave. You did research I’m sure and ended with a different conclusion - which was to join islam. They did research and ended up with the conclusion - islam is not for me. Just like you have the right to express yourself and religion, so do ex Muslims with thier experience.There not imposing thier believes they are telling you thier experience. If their experience doesn’t align with your beliefs, it doesn’t mean they are imposing on you. it just means you have different experiences of being Muslim.

Well, I wouldn’t let that non-doctor TREAT me, but if they told me about a bad experience they had in a specific hospital, one with bad doctors and inconsistent treatments, that made them no longer want to become a doctor, I would still listen. If I were also in medical school, I would take that into consideration in the future as I continued my journey to becoming a doctor and then treating patients. Similarly, I think it’s important to listen to criticisms from people who have left my faith, in order to learn about the flaws and strengths in my belief system and become a better religious person. There is no need to listen to bitter, baseless arguments against faith, but if you ignore criticisms altogether, there is greater risk of repeating the offenses that often drive even the most knowledgeable people away from faith.
That's the thing I find is popular within Muslim culture: viewing all and any criticism as hate. I used to briefly watch NinjaMommy, but when she said explained why she wouldn't be able to accept her daughter's relationship if she were gay, people rightly called her out as homophobic. She then preceded to call said people Islamicphobic.......for not being okay with her saying if her daughter married a woman she wouldn't go to wedding. I noticed whenever women explain why they took off hijab they get this massive amount of hate from Muslims, despite hijab supposedly being a "choice".

Not comparable at all. Every single ex Muslim I've seen so far has either 1. Shown a huge misunderstanding of Islam or 2. are Christian Missionaries. Now your going to say Im delusional but I have proof. I have never seen a Scholar or Shayh of Islam convert whereas I saw tons of priest and Rabii's convert. Also, my grandma grew up in post colonial India when Pakistan was just formed. The Christian Missionaries gave them food or created schools and basically exploded indoctrination of belief all over them. They are doing the same in Indonesia right now in places where its very poor and there is a small amount of knowledge. A lot of them even pose as Muslims and the "convert" in front of the people.
I've watched a few ex Muslim channels who actually have been practicing Muslims for 70 years and later left Islam. Have been scholars of Islam.. some even if the dawah group, two channels 1. Sachwala , 2. Ex Muslim sahil. Come to my mind. Edit: what I mean is, they've studied Islam a lot and have found flaws / things they don't agree with and decided to leave the religion. Not all ex Muslims are non religious / unaware. On the contrary many of them have actually studied to Quran a lot before they left. I was born, raised in a very religious Muslim environment. I went to Islamic school for almost 8 years. I wore the veil (even when I was too young for it, and technically still am). I had many great practicing Muslim friends. You can't just generalise and dismiss all exmuslims' views on Islam. They were once like you too. In fact, the reason that many of them leave Islam is because they did research on it and came to their own conclusion - so they may actually know more about the religion than you do. Take care.

You fail to mention that more often than not, ex muslims have traumas. For example growing up in a country where the laws are based on the quran. For example if a person is gay and grew up with parents that where against it because of their religion. Or pressure from society to cover up. Lets not talk bad about these people. I'm a non-Muslim queer person who lives in a Muslim country and my whole family is Muslim apart from 1 cousin but I'm the only one to know about it and I'm literally shaking about the thought that one day I might be discovered because here we go to jail (from 2 months to 3 years) + a fine (can be expensive or not but the price to pay isn't too bad). The country doesn't punish you too bad but the people are really close minded and there are huge chances that you can be assassinated and tortured even if I'm not really sure if it's legal...they also recently made a new law forbidding rainbow products including children's toys so it makes it scarier now. I constantly have to pretend to be Muslim and my dad is becoming stricter about religion now that I'm older and it's really stressful,I feel like I'm literally about to snap but I can't do anything 😢😭

As a Christian, the experiences of "ex-Christians" is incredibly important - even if I don't think they were ever actually a Christian. Mainly because most people don't reject Christianity because they actually know Christianity and find it repulsive. Usually it's a combination of personal pain, witnessing hypocrisy, reluctance to let go control, and just general ignorance of the faith. Many of these things I can help change, if not for that person, then for someone else. But ignoring them, pretending they don't exist, or acting like they have nothing valid to say reeks of deliberate self-isolation and self-deception.
True words, it's good to know these things. The church today that was made to be God's house and a meeting place for God's children is now a place of judgement, lies and pain instead of on of learning, guidance and love

As someone who had left the faith and came back, my biggest peeve is people saying we were never true christians, in fact i believed that myself before i fell out. Its an extraordinarily painful and isolating experience, you dont want too not believe in God, it feels more like a betrayal depending on the reason why your mind thinks that it isnt real anymore and more often than not every effort is exhausted too salvage this faith before its crushed completely. My faith was just as real for me, i practiced it genuinely and learned as much as i could about the Bible and who God was before i was crushed. Everyone in my church believed i wasnt a real christian including my family, i dont like too share my journey with them anymore even tho i found God again as a result of that. Its ignorant.

As adults when and only if, they take interest in the subject and choose those subjects in professional studies, only then they can get help from parents, extra, they can get to ask them about opinions and then can gain that benefit of their parents. When they're not even interested in the same thing or despise, what their parents do or associate with, and also choose a separate path, then how would they know or benefit from parents? In past, usually children did what their parents did, parents started passing down the information in childhood of the skills they had, because that was the way of educating kids. So people learnt from generations and hence the skills and knowledge was passed down, hence the kid of generational practitioners of a skill or knowledge, had more advantage over someone who newly came to learn it from outside. And hence parents used to take their kids at pretty young age to their jobs, so the kids could learn. Now a days, this has changed. Knowledge of kids rarely comes from parents. Parents are usually too busy for that and the knowledge kids gain is from schools, which is similar to everyother kid, nothing special. Doctors now, don't check patients at their own homes, in front of their kids. And Doctors now, don't take their kids at work, in their rooms, with patients. How'll the kid know. The only thing that kid will know is, "this medicine, my father/mother gave me for fever, this for pain, this for infection, this for allergy." Just like anyother kid in the world. And everything aside my point still stands that the opinion of child of a doctor is not reliable, as compared to a licensed practicing doctor.

Ngl that example is poor, I’m the step-daughter of a paramedic and firefighter, my dad taught me shit most people wouldn’t know (including how to effectively do cpr in multiple different ways) and I’m 14, I’m not a practicing paramedic myself, but I know things paramedics do. And because of that, I have multiple people who would let me help them any day of the week (including my neighbor, who has a broken arm, and often lets me or my dad come over to help her arm mobility throughout the day.)
