They all know how to think practically bc they’re mountain trained You need a good amount of common sense to ski, bc moments like this one aren’t actually that uncommon Like a kid hanging in the air isn’t a frequent occurrence but downhill ski/snowboarding is a dangerous sport, and people fall frequently. You just learn how to help them.
The problem with those lifts is, that the protection bar is one for all. Dad is bigger than his son, so the bar didn't protect the son but leaves a gap where he obviously slipped through. It can happen so fast, as the lift is jerking from time to time very rough..
How weak is the father to not be able to drag his son up though? And why does it say the kid couldnt hold on for much longer when its the father holding the kid..? Plus, there is absolutely no danger of dying from that height.. Bullshit to make a viral video is all it is.
that all depends on the terrain right below you and how far the jump is. you don't want to jump down onto very flat ground but jumping down on terrain with a decent slope will not create severe injury.
As a snowboarder myself I think that people that do snow activities, mountain activities and such have more survival skills and quick reaction because we have been and a lot of danger situations and improvisation and use of resources are more efficient
I was thinking if they choose college, they should have their tuition paid! something they deserve something...a lot of teens would've pulled out their phones and stood by to record and capitalize off it
For those that are asking how this happened? I can speak from personal experience. I was 8-9 and had to sort of hop up onto the lift and it was snowy/icy. My butt slid right off as the lift was going up (obviously, we weren’t near as high as this). My mom had one arm, my dad the other and I was hanging there as the chairlift kept going and going until other passengers got the attention of the lift operator. I was and still am an avid skier and wasn’t misbehaving, etc., I just literally slid off and the bar that comes down doesn’t protect little ones from sliding off lol. Hope this helps explain to those thinking these kids were screwing around…I mean, maybe they were, but not necessarily.
Yes and kids are much smaller and thinner so youd be much like a feather floating around in a large vessel, nothing to keep you in. I remember as a kid just having to grip on as hard as I could to stop being propelled out of some of those amusement park rides that had no safety belts back then, it dis make the rides less enjoyable.
@@joyceyang6976 or if possible the lift a little lower. I don’t know. I was always a shorty and still only 5’4” but when I saw this it instantly reminded me of that situation. I remember we were about 12-15 feet so if I had fallen, it would’ve hurt and I remember thinking to myself, Jeez, are they ever going to stop this thing. Luckily, with my mom and dad’s help and strength, along with my own, I was able to get my butt firmly planted. My parents were both strong, but I imagine in a sitting position, I weighed probably 50-55 pounds, skis. boots, and 14 layers of clothes, it probably wasn’t that easy. Thank you guys for listening and not jumping to conclusions. I was reading the comments when I initially commented and it was “kids screwing around, the kids fault, etc.” and whereas I don’t have much tolerance for disrespectful morons, I actually had first hand experience of how this very bizarre situation could have happened and felt the need to share. Y’all have a wonderful rest of the week xx.
I work at a ski resort and it's true the teenagers these days are actually pretty awesome. For the most part they look out for each other and help others too. The future is bright!
I agree. Middle-schoolers, not so much, but when they reach high school, they begin to shine. There are awesome human beings lurking behind the weird clothes, hair colors, and makeup. No kidding ♥️
And then when they go to college, they come out the opposite of how they had been. More successful monetarily, but indoctrinated into unintentionally and intentionally fighting for the corrupted segment of the world establishment. It’s actually very sad seeing how some of these kids turn out after going to college and comparing them to what they were like before college.
Just incredible. These young men showed ingenuity and acted quickly, likely saving this boy from terrible injuries. Seeing people act upon their pure concern for others; not for the camera or for clicks or 'clout', is a very welcome sight, indeed. What a proud moment for them 🤗
It took me the whole clip before I realized that the Dad had another child sitting on his lapp. Suddenly it made more sense as to why the Dad didn't manage to pull the young boy up
@@cjwalthall11 This is why it is so important to be mindful of what one write in comments. I see many people in the comment section, commenting about how "weak and bad" of a Father he is. But there was nothing more he could do. I understod that once I saw the child on his lapp. I'm just happy that he managed to hold on until those amazing teenagers came to the rescue
It looks like the parents positioned the two youngest child by themselves to one side. When each parent should’ve had each small child in between themselves in the middle so they can hold onto the children at all times and prevent this from happening in the first place. They got lucky that he didn’t slip off when it wasn’t higher up!
It might not look it but those falls are very dangerous. If the snow was packed down and he landed wrong he could have broken his neck very easily. I used to work at a ski resort and we only had this happen once and the person had a seizure while on the lift. Was small enough to slip under the brace because he was so weak when he came out of the seizure and is no longer with us because of how he landed... he fell 15ft
@@dolphinsbluou'd have to have pretty terrible luck if you fell how this guy did but somehow managed to gain the momentum in 15 feet to flip your body upside down and break your neck of all things. I feel like you'd be equally likely to impale your neck through one of your skis upon impact
Because of inattentive dad he risk his son's life. If the kid wasn't such a wiggle worm he would've never been in the position to risk other people on the ground.
The parents of those teens must be so proud. To be that young and have the ability to not only recognize someone else in need, but to have the courage and motivation to help. They did such a great job ❤
What did he do to end up like that, why couldn’t dad lift him up, and where are the emergency units out there?????? So many questions left unanswered . 😮
Nah but I embarrassingly fell and couldn't get up bc my skis were like crossed, a stranger helped me uncross them and even grabbed me up Whoever u are, ty:)
Lol saved him? I use to do this shit on purpose!! Lol jumping off the lift was fun… now we have a bunch of pussies growing up… y’all soft lol 😂 he could of dropped and literally nothing would of happened 😂
Nothing would happen to this kid, max few bruises. When I was 10-12 I used to jump with my friends from the gondel if it was stuck, and the hight was 2 times larger. Kids these days are such wusses
I'm deliver for Amazon and my van got stuck in some mud, some teenage boys came out of their house to try to help me get the van out, but to no avail, so they called a friend of there's who had a truck and they were able to quickly pull me out! I was like, "you guys don't have to help me, I can call my dispatch" and they were like, "my dad taught us to help!" So nice! Glad people are still raising their kids to help someone in need!

Did no one notice that dad is having to lean over his daughter (pink coat and little legs). It is truly a Miracle that he was able reach his son and hold on. There was no time to move her. Brave child. Then you have the teenager coming to help and utilized fencing to make a netting for him to fall on to break the fall. Bless them. Quick thinking and caring for others, I wonder if they were Boy Scouts.

@@saiyansatan I don’t know if you’ve ever fallen on packed snow but it hurts a lot and there is potential for broken bones at that height. Even if he wouldn’t have died it would’ve hurt a lot and injuries suck nonetheless. plus it probably helped him calm down a little knowing that he is going to fall but there is some netting to catch him, rather than having to face falling on the ground.
Tbf paramedics aren't trained in technical rescues like this. They just treat them after the rescue squad truck finishes up. Any paramedic doing a rescue is most likely winging it like these guys. Not gonna use the most fool proof method, but they can get the job done effectively.
This goes to show that there are still a lot of good people in this world. These teens saved this boy from getting really hurt. So I applaud this quick thinking teens.
Such a great group of kids!!! Instead of running to find adults they decided that they could fix the situation by saving the little guy themselves ❤….so proud of these kids ❤

I am pretty sure this kid probably got in this situation in less than 2 seconds. It isn't like he slowly lifted himself down to hang from it on purpose. Pretty sure the dad responded as quick as he could in the time that he had and the circumstances he had.
As a skier, thank god this happened the way it did. I’ve seen lifts over 150ft cliffs, and in a lot of places there would be no way to save that kid. Glad he’s ok.
This happened to my son when he was about 4. We lived at a mountain resort and skied often. He didn't get loaded properly onto the chair and started slipping. I told him to look straight ahead, bend his knees when he landed and he would be fine. The snow was deep and fresh, so he landed in a big floof and was fine. He didn't even cry. When I got to the top of the lift, I skied down and we went on with our day!
That's what I don't understand. I've caught more air than that coming off a mogul at the right speed. If he was on the lift he must have some ability. Smh
Thank God dad was strong enough to hold him. Omg after watching several times, I realised the people helping are kids. wow! they deserve a medal! Amazing!
I’m proud of every young person involved in saving that young man from serious injury. So, we have witnessed that humanity still exists within our race. It was a miracle they were there. Did notice not one adult stepped up? I’m grateful to God for those teens being there.
@cautiouslasagna 110% depends on what u land on in terms of what body part lands first the angle of how u land on that said body part everyone just thinks ok from that high if u land on your feet you would just have broken legs pelvis or both but even that can kill u there are story's of people land on there feet from a height that does just break there legs but they land on them in a way the femer breaks and goes through there femoral artery and bleed to death in minutes or there femer goes into there abdomen just right causing internal bleeding die from that it happens from time to time also saying it depends on what u land on in terms of the type of ground below u big difference between a grassy field and a concrete road in this case it is snow but it's compacted most likely man made snow that has a snowcat grooming it daily its more like a cold block of ice he would have landed on not much different that landing on concrete if the lift was over an area that in not ski trail and had even just like 3 or 4 foot of non compacted natural snow accumulation and the snow your falling into had not been exposed to a warm sunny day or a few days that were just above freezing and then a cold spell hit turning that snow into again almost like ice or cause a thick layer of ice like snow there would have been no problems at all at that point it would be like falling into a foam pit just probably would have had to been dug out or had help getting out of the snow
The fact that an adult can’t pick up his own son like that is asinine. And then on top of that, to be so delusional that you think you are fit to be skiing

⚠️ Note to all Parents: DON'T put your kid on a chair lift unless you know they can handle it! If they can't sit still, don't listen to you or follow instructions, or act impulsively without regard to safety... They don't belong on a chair lift! This is NOT an amusement park ride and there is no seatbelt holding you in. Also, if your children are going on a lift, sit WITH your children! Don't let them ride alone or with other small children/siblings. YOU are responsible for them and their safety and you can't help them if you're in the next chair over... Don't risk it, it's not worth it.
Yes. I grew up next to a mountain resort, always skiid there. Worked there later as an adult. The only time this ever happened was when a friend rode with his brother and his brother thought it hilarious to shove him off. Even if this kid had fallen without makeshift net it's likely the snow would've taken the majority of impact. Even packed snow has give
@@ezakustam of course. But the height this kid was at, as well as my friend there was very little risk. The problem for friend was he constantly joked about pushing me off. Water kills you as well at the right height.
Skis are meant to pop off easily in event of a wreck or accident. So, likely he clanged his feet together or used 1 foot to stomp on the other foot to cause them to fall. It would've been disastrous, imo, if he tried to land on the net 🥅 w\them bc they could've gotten tangled up in there or even if they popped off as supposed to his body could hit the very hard bindings. So, while there's no way to know for sure w\o the whole video, that's what he did. It seems less likely that he could've pulled his leg up to release 1 handed & Doubtful the Dad could do it while remaining holding him. & Equally doubtful the other passenger could've reached. The only other way that might have worked is somebody getting on the chair that's used for emergency lift evac. I worked at a ski resort several yrs & even tho Im NOT a skier or boarder, we all had to learn the chair evacs. Basically using a pulley system by throwing a rope attached to an emergency chair (basically like a plank or swing to pic what I mean) & it's anchored by 1 person & another used to guide. You scoot out off the lift & onto the plank\swing & lowered to the ground. But it takes time to get & set up. & If they HAD that there then it would make more Sense to pull it up to him or even somebody ride it up & grab hold of him to lower. So, just seems likely he kicked them off. So, I said I'm not a skier or boarder, however my hubby was & worked at the same ski resort as a teenager back when we were dating. So, he took me once & It was an EPIC failure on my part. But I DID learn the importance of knowing your weight! I see myself as bigger than I am even when I was skinny. So, I overestimated my weight thinking if I under bid it then I'd break the skis. But that's not the reason they ask the weight. They calibrate the skis so they will pop off when you crash or tumble so your legs don't get twisted & broken. So, when I ended up cartwheeling down the steep slope headed straight for the expert course, I got knee all f*cked up & sprained bc it twisted when I tumbled bc they were made to w\stand more of a jolt due to my overstating my body weight! OUCH!
First time I ever went snowboarding some random guy taught me and actually stayed for me to go off on my own. The people on the mountains are most of the time most polite and courteous.
@@Khabasalainganba He had another child sitting right next to him and maybe he had an injury? Or it was just too difficult from that angle? It's weak of you to assume that guy's weak
I love that they thought to have him detach his skis. That was not necessarily obvious in the moment of panic, but probably helped save him from serious injury. This is a great example of teamwork. More brains working together make for a smarter and calmer rescue.
As a lifelong skier from the age of 5, I can tell you that this did not just happen. Either the kid did something stupid, or his parents did. You don't just slide out of these chairs. That being said, EXCELLENT work done by the skiers on the ground! I've always found the skiing community to be there for each other.
the same thing happened to me when I was like 8. Definitely possible. The drop isn’t going to kill you on snow either. This video is just silly as if he’s falling 10 stories to his death
@@Marinaddee that child cld be passed to the other person on the lift tho right.......and name calling goes nowhere, I've got a tiny screen and can't see stuff all
At least that ended well. This happened to my sister at exactly that age too. For all those asking "how do you get in that situation", back then (think over 25 years ago) those lifts would actually hit you at their full, actual running speed, so a small child would have to be helped on by a grown-up person, or the controller would have to slow down the entire line (or even shut it down) completely. So that time the controller didn't slow it down and as she got on, she was still on the edge of the seat and as she tried to wiggle herself backwards she immediately slipped forward due to the angle of the lift (which tends to swing after it "hits" people). That was when my father made his own big mistake and tried to bring her back up, which is basically impossible, so she was left hanging for a while just like the kid in this video. The controller NEVER noticed (a guy in his 60s, 1-2 years away from retirement) and never stopped the line, so basically after a point nothing could be done by anyone! She hang on for about as far along the ride as this kid, so she was over 6 meters (20 feet) high above rock-hard early morning icy snow. And then.... her hands slipped out of her gloves. I am just a couple of years older than her, this was a huge shock to me. At first I was worried she had died, because she wasn't moving, then they told me she'd broken her leg, at which time I thought she wouldn't walk again... Anyway the consequences were far worse for her than for myself, this DID actually cause her never to ski again (and she was doing great up to that point!) her leg didn't heal properly and had to put in a casket a 2nd time after a few months and my very athletic sister went down a spiral of basically zero activity for over a year and gaining far too much weight, which stayed with her ever since (and has unfortunately gotten much worse). Could this have been another "miracle recovery" story? Probably so, but this is to let you know, not everything works out fine for everyone all the time. True story, unfortunately. :(
Sorry for that George... Only stupid people can think that is impossible to happen: we have always to be very careful with those machines. Let's see the positive aspect, and it wasn't given she would survive. About the weight....i don't agree... I can understand the first period, but let's not blame the accident for ever: all of us are responsible for ourselves
They put her leg in a cast or casket? Cuz u said casket. Either way, that sux and I'm sorry it happened. For every intelligent design or fine tune argument they leave out a the bad things that happen. Things just happen. Good things and bad. Consistent and inconsistent.
It's tough. However you mentioned that things not always go well like in the video and to be honest you missed that things can go even worse. She could have hit his head a rock and end up either with irreversible brain damage or just dead.
I know the guy who though of the idea! This is at grouse mountain resort, the kid was not on the chair correctly, the lifty did not see or hear them. So it kept going up and the kid slid down to that position. Then people told the lifty.

This made me tear up! As I single father I’ve been horrified of the world my daughter is growing up in and this gave me a little faith there’s still decent people out there
But is your kid dumb enough to horse around on a ski lift DIRECTLY in your presence to the point they find themselves dangling from it? I'm guessing not, nature weeds out the dumb ones and yet some still make it well into adulthood, usually just long enough to reproduce, unfortunately.
I recently broke my leg and one thing I've learned which has restored my faith in humanity is that the world is full of good kind-hearted people willing to help a person in need. There are way more good people than not. It's the ones in power who are bringing us down.

@@joeloweryourexpectationsbiden completely disagree with you. Opinions vary, you have yours and I have mine. This is proof of my point, as adults are too busy enjoying their day of skiing that they paid 1000’s of dollars for. Adults are selfish. Adults overthink and under perform. Children have a more active imagination than adults, and young adults are less constrained by their own prior patterns of thought. Adults more often freeze and panic where kids quickly jump into action and are creative without many limitations. Young children are actually better at learning unusual or unlikely principles than adults. Researchers have discovered that by age three, a child's brain is actually twice as active as an adult's. Kids spring into action where adults look for the authorities to help. I’ve seen it many times actually. I’m not saying all adults just sit there with their thumbs up their asses in the face of danger, but kids are much more fearless and level headed thinkers when faced with unknown or unique challenges.
