DUDE. The text commentary on what/why you are doing something is EXCELLENT. Knowing when, how, and why is the part of these photo walk vlogs that is always missing from vids, Like obviously the photographer “likes” something, but WHY?? And this video actually tells you!!! I hope all your vids got the text comments from now on. I learned more in this one vid than all photo walk vids I’ve seen combined😂😂😂

Nice, the text really is a great addition to this video. Another take away from this video besides using the wider focal length is one many have talked about over and over, but I don't think it can be mentioned enough. Stop down and bring the context of the environment in. That also makes zone focusing so much easier. Really great video Mike! Have a great week.

Ironic isn't it? Up until Leica introduced a super expensive point and shoot camera with a fixed 28mm lens, a superb example of the genre one has to admit, everyone was walking around with 35mm lenses or their equivalent in APSC or MFT formats, and claiming that the 35mm was the perfect ' candid photography ' lens, Yes Ricoh had some sort of fixed lens 28mm equivalent too.. Now ofcourse, people who have bought these expensive cameras have been forced to see through the 28mm lens and find compositions. You see, it is not the focal length that is the factor here, but having only one lens and learning to see photographs through that fixed lens. Decades ago, we bought our cameras with either a 45mm or 50 mm lens, even Leicas were mostly equipped with only a 35mm lens. The arrival of decent quality zooms changed all that. I think these fixed lens cameras are a very welcome development. Enjoy your time with the Q.

I'm a relatively new photographer and started out with a GRIII and a Minolta film camera with a 28mm lens. I thought I liked the focal length but have since realized that >40mm suits me more. I still use a 28mm for certain situations (crowded areas, events, etc.) but have switched largely to micro four thirds and a 35 or 40mm equivalent for the extra depth of field and separation from the subject. Even 35mm is feeling too wide, lately. I was tired of throw away photos resulting from too much distance from the subject or distracting elements in the frame and don't necessarily want to get any closer.

Love your videos!!❤ I really like how you describe your thoughts during your walk and how your self critics your walk. Funny thing about the "bike-tache David Bowie shot" is that, in French (i don't know if it's the same in English), a" Bike handlebars" (guidon de vélo) is a syle of mustache 😅 Well done, juste discovered your channel, and it won't definitely be the last video I'll watch. Love the text overlays with your comments. Would also love it if, for the stills, you could add the photo details such as f stop, focal range, shutter speed, iso and which mode you were shooting in (example: AV, TV, M, P).. as well as any post processing like the name of any presets used…as a photographer myself I would find it very interesting info. Keep up the great work! Looking forward to more of these!👍👍👏👏😊😊

Love the video. But IMO you're hunting so much - you often don't even stop walking when taking a shot - that you're missing great opportunities. Have you considered stopping and fishing more when you find a great location? With the woman resting with her head down, for instance, you had little time pressure and could have stayed there for an additional 30-90 seconds and got follow-up shots that would have knocked the first out of the ballpark. You can grab the initial shot as you currently do (which is guaranteed to be candid) and then, when the situation allows it, stay longer and see if you can refine and improve the shot.
@MikeChudley
@MikeChudley 11 месяцев назад
I fish a lot! But it’s hard to show you 60 minutes of waiting at 1 location for one shot on a GoPro battery😂 these POVs don’t capture the entire process. For everything you see in a video like this, remember there’s thousands of hours you’re not seeing. Some days I’m slower and more intentional, other days I’m run and gun like this video. Every day and every situation is slightly different. Thanks for the comment!
