After plenty of runs (and being still far from having unlocked everything), I can partially agree with the "enemies are as strong as you are" argument. I've had some runs where I couldn't keep up (and sometimes, one weapon amelioration fucks up an otherwise very cool run), but I also had some runs in which I utterly obliterated the enemies, even at the end. It all depends on how lucky you are and how well you boost your stats throughout the run. And which weapon you use. The only thing that bothers me greatly though is the inefficiency of the third and fourth weapons... I'll always been upgrading my first and second weapons, and I never see why I should spend points on the other two when they have so much to catch back to in term of power... But otherwise, for a 10€ game which is still in early access, it's (to me) a blast, and I'm really addicted to it for now.
game just released give them time game is fun for some time but new classes are needed and more weapons would be cool too i'm waiting with buying for new content
great video , i think all points are correct but it HAS to be mentioned that the game is in early access and more content will inevitably be coming/changing. As well as the price..
Agree with much said about the upgrades, they should synergise better by enhancing each other rather than dumping levels on one and leaving another at level 1, the meta progression can be viewed as a grind or just something you unlock as part of the journey of levelling the different characters, it is quite uninteresting though with just minor stats and no other gain. Would have liked to see some sort of pick X and Y to create Z type of play, Vampire Survivors had some decent gun upgrades like that. One thing I think is just absolutely wrong is "Price point that doesn't quite align with the content it offers" The game is $10 last I checked. You should get some solid 10-20 hours of just trying out the guns, different builds and unlocking all miners. The game is super satisfying with its explosions and visuals, although they can become overwhelming and block vision with certain weapons such as throwables.
I also had similar opinions on the game. The "final builds" aren't flashy enough. I also didn't like how weak you felt even with a decent run the only way to survive the swarms is for the exploder bugs to chain detonate each other which was nice except you had to do it 6 or 7 times a run as almost all my runs would end if the chain reaction didn't occur.
Don't hold your breath for drastic changes. This game is based extremely closely and heavily on Deep Rock Galactic itself. Yes, they'll definitely add more biomes, DRG has a lot that aren't in this title. But these weapons are the DRG weapons. The overclocks are the DRG overclocks. I will say that anyone who complains about the price is way off base. I've got over 100 hours in the game now, and at $10.00 that's an incredible return on money spent. It's good fun, stays true to the DRG universe and has a lot of gameplay for a very low price.
thats why i didnt get the game, it looks amazing but at the end of the day, still early access, and just like up to date Vampire Survivors cannot be compared to Vampire Survivors at launch, i do believe the devs will work on a lot of stuff in Deep Rock Galactic Survivor, specially because we know that the devs love their games instead of just cash grabbing systems. My advice for people would be just to wait a bit before buying it, im sure they'll add tons of different content/builds/progression soon enough edit: typo
I agree with most all that was said, I only disagree regarding the pricing which for me felt very reasonable. I would hope more game changing builds as well as variations will be included in the future. Game is quite solid but you reach a limit very quickly I would wish to surpass in terms of content, power and builds. Good job on the review.
Being overrated isn’t directly tied to price. This game is riding on the deep rock galactic IP, which is highly rated. The game was also featured on the steam home page. Certainly cause for being over hyped.
