I interpreted it as Dr. Doom simply being Marvel Studios’ replacement for Kang. It’s a different “mask” or villain, but they share the same motivation and just plugged Doom into the hole that Kang left.
Personally I think he was talking about his task as the actor RDJ, to hold up the MCU on his shoulders. I am hoping that the 1st option is the one that we get, and that RDJ is just in the mask all the time and is acting as a totally different person. He's a good enough actor to pull that off I think.
They get infos in advance from these companies (insiders, meet ups with writers, directors and producers, early screenings…)so what is the point? I know it looks impressive for you average viewers but these are not theories but marketing. They working hand in hand with Amazon, Disney, etc…
@@TheInfamousDope I would have agreed with you except 80% of their theories last year were wrong.. Infact most of the time their theories ( especially during Got era) were so much better than the final product.
@@dumblydoor3741 it's okay if they're wrong. they're not in the writers rooms or in the producer/director chair. that's the fun of these channels. we get to delve into the possibilities of nerdom
Do you think they trusted Tom Holland with the information that RDJ is returning? The thought of Tom finding out on the news the day after comic con has me cackling LOL
We now have a shared Marvel cinematic universe where Josh Brolin is both Thanos and Cable, Ryan Reynolds is both Deadpool and Hannibal King, and Chris Evans as Human Torch and Captain America. Robert as Doom should work
How about the possibility of Marvel paying off the line that Tony says to Steve in Endgame: “when you mess with time it tends to mess back; you’ll see.” THAT, would be an interesting twist.
@@georgewashington7982 Good point! It's also possible they met Victor after those events (which they've failed). Then Victor switched bodies with Stark and that's it RDJ - Victor not Stark. Still a theory haha
@@tdoom1354 Based on what? That he is too serious of an actor like Anthony Hopkins? Or that he's already worked for DC like Ryan Reynolds? Did Marvel dump a bunch of toxic sludge on his hometown or something?
@@DrugzMunnyI could be wrong, but I’m almost certain Cillian said he never wanted to play a superhero. Because most people who play hero’s, that tend’s to be their only role for years and years to come. Or something they’re ONLY known for. Actors like to be noticed for more than one role. Kinda like how Steve Carrel seems to not like talking about his role as Michael Scott in The Office considering he’s done sooo much more
RDJ is stunt casting to be sure. However I do believe he is also there to play on the emotions of characters who knew him. Such as Thor, Scott, Strange, Clint, and mostly importantly Peter Parker. Picture this possible scene in Secret Wars, Peter seeing an unmasked Doom and assuming he’s Tony. Peter runs over, hugs Doom, only to realize or be hurt by Doom then saying “You’re not Tony.”
Doom is smart enough to create androids (Doom-bots) to carry out his plans, so he doesn't even need to be there himself. Meaning he can appear to be in multiple places at once, and isn't defeated even in the unlikely event of someone getting to 'him' & destroying 'him'. Only 60% of the time, defeating Doom works every time.
I think its more hes an easy replacement for kang. Im imagining all the instances with doom bots are just going to be the fodder kangs we saw at the end of quantum mania. So they dont have to scrap everything with kang
Ok but didn’t Chris Evans’ Johnny Storm in Deadpool & Wolverine kind of set a precedent that the same actor can be a non-variant of their character? Deadpool thought it was Captain America at first, which lends itself to the Avengers having to fight someone who looks just like someone they all love so dearly, but is a totally different person.
Except Fantastic 4 came out 19 years ago long before he was ever Cap. I don't see anybody talking about Killmonger also being Johnny Storm and that timeline would have been equally pruned in the buyout
It is. But is that was with something do with stones that Cap gonna give them back? Remember portal can send you different time line. Maybe different universe? So many possibilites.
It's going to be THE Victor Von Doom (surely from another universe, not the one from the sacred timeline), not a Tony variant, both Russo Brothers AND RDJ himself confirmed this!
Honestly though the fourth option is the best one bcuz it ensures that Reed and Victor's classic rivalry is still there even if its not a true Victor Von Doom adaptation. Like they could be rivals in how smart they are and their intellectual achievements/contributions to the world. He could always be trying to one up Reed in everything until it all goes wrong one day.
i think it would be cool if he had a mask that opens or a mask he can take of, but only half his face, because the other half is scared like the commics
Him getting the powers of the beyonder, fighting kang, ripping thanos spine out, the comic stories mixed, him meeting peter parker as doom, seeing tom cruise as superior ironman, making ironman the archor beeing 616, ironman varient standing in a shot with tobey maquire and hug jackman wolverine, doctor doom owning a badass castle like the comics, having a mask that opens half from his scared face maybe, or darker eyes/makeup. Just a little brainstorm, but if non happen im sure the movie will be great, in Kevin fiegie we trust!
I believe they announced him on stage as Victor Von doom. I think they showed us in Deadpool that an actor can play two different characters. I think that’s a whole reason for that cameo to say this person can play two different characters and it’s OK. I also think RDJ as Tony Stark was amazing but I kind of got the feeling he’s going to one up it by playing the villain Victor Von doom. Plus we know when Peter Parker sees Mr. Stark again in tears only to be told by Viktor Von doom he is not tony and then probably beating him up it’s gonna break all of our hearts lol .
Remember in Infinity War that Tony unknowingly leaned up against the "Cauldron of the Cosmos" in the Sanctum Sanctorum… so who knows what essence of Stark could’ve cooked up in the multiverse stew. To refer Doctor who’s Clara who went into Time vortex to save the doctor, It could mean multiple Starks got reborn as Doom to save the multiverses through Loki’s shenanigans with the timelines. Loki is watching from his realm, Kang is still around so he’s giving the multiverses a chance.
My theory is RDJ is playing a variant of Tony who is the same as MCU Tony until he gets kidnapped. While kidnapped, instead of making mach 1 armor, he makes a doom suit. Instead of feeling bad about the destruction his weapons have caused he becomes radicalized and believes that he is the only one who can fix the world and everyone else is a threat to his world peace
I’m really more following the scenario in my head that they choose RDJ because he’s just such a good actor. If they can keep his mask on just like he does in the comics, then it’s not going to matter who is underneath, the only thing that will matter is that they are doing a killer job with the role
RDJ is too valuable to leave the mask on though. Most actors have agents who refuse to sign them for a role unless they get a certain amount of facetime on the screen, and you can bet your life savings that's the case here.
@@SShortyduwaaap because he’s a great actor like I said. At the end of the day nobody knows what they have planned for Doom and why they choose RDJ, that’s just the scenario I want to happen and would make the most sense for me to be on board with his casting.
I don't agree with your what if. My only problem with it is that you're making this dr doom a stark variant. But he's not he was announced as the one person who could play VICTOR VON DOOM. Not Tony von doom or a stark variant and well yes dr doom but he was announced as victor von doom. So he's a victor variant not a tony variant just like how chris evans's johnny storm in both deadpool 3 and the fantastic 4 movies isn't a steve rogers variant but a johnny storm variant instead. Or in other words people looking similiar in alternate dimensions does not always mean they're variants of eachother.
I agree thinking it’s Victor, but at least here he explained it in a way where if the timeline was different he could become Victor Von Doom, which makes sense actually. I’m leaning the it just actually being like Victor from another timeline, but I love how he explained it, anddd tied in Kang
I really like the idea of Tony being the anchor being of the MCU. This could put Doctor Strange in a pretty stressful role once it’s revealed, as he’s the one who put the idea of a sacrificial play into Tony’s head, therefore getting the anchor being of his universe killed.
@@3phasefault if his name is Victor von Doom, then no, he can’t. It would be a tremendous waste of potential as a character and completely destroyed Doom for what he is. I don’t think that they’ll go that route, though.
I beleive its either a variant or a Loki like moment where Tony is ripped unexpectedly from the sacred timeline and instead of a redemption arc gets a villians arc.
casting RDJ as Doom is a bold boss move… they KNOW how “fans” will react… they KNOW it will be confusing for regular cinema-goers… they KNOW they’ll get slammed “desperate”… so they also KNOW the reason they’re doing it is gonna be 100% WORTH THAT RISK!! dark twisted opportunities now open to them and the emotional rollercoaster audiences will experience is what Joe Russo describes as “unimaginable” - CRAZY jaw-dropping potential and i’m here for ALL OF IT!! 💥💥💥💥💥
Many saw it as bold to also cast him as Tony in the first place. Remember, he was coming out of his alcohol and drug abuse. He was a persona non grata because of his past. They took a shot and it paid off by the thousands. I think they will definetely make it work. Somehow. With Deadpook & Wolverine, the Multiverse opens up many doors.
I wonder what they would've done if there were a bunch of no's and boo's in Hall H when they revealed him. Would they have pulled the plug on the idea and canceled all the contracts to rethink the story?
I've seen some speculation that it refers to the whole "suit of armor around the world" goal. So Doom's objective will probably be about saving the world or something like that, but he'll go about it in a villainous, brute force kind of way like with Thanos. In the Secret Wars comics, the different universes were colliding and destroying each other. Doom solved it by basically fusing everything into one world called Battleworld, where he ruled as its god. I imagine something similar will happen.
2 other options..... 1. Howard had a secret family in Latveria that he denied. The mother and son lived a poor, harsh life. Victor looks just like Tony and hates it. He tries to experiment on his face and gets the metal mask stuck to it. Boom! Dr Doom. 2. When Tony snaps his fingers with the stones. He made another wish. That if he was ever needed again he would return from the dead more ruthless and aggressive. And anyone that tried to stop him would face Doom. Marvel send me a check. 5% is cool.
I like your alternate timeline theory. It gets people thinking. Doctor Doom is such a forgotten character in modern media nowadays, when he's such a GOOD character. Seeing RDJ bring justice to this supposed alternate Doc Doom would be amazing to watch
I think it would be cool to see the Tony stark that went mad after seeing his fellow avengers die. See the extreme he goes through like he almost did in age of ultron.
3:36 Too out there?!?! We just watched a movie where two characters who touched matter and anti-matter to stop the McGuffin from destroying the universe... We have crossed the line of belief long back!
This channel never acknowledges Victor's romani gypsy origins nor how great of a sorcerer he is that is compared to Steven Strange They just see mask and technology savant He's much more than that
I was so glad to hear when someone brought up Gemma Chan who also played 2 roles in different Marvel movies, most often actors/actresses have 2 if not more roles of characters that are in Marvel. Chris Evans as both Johnny Storm & Captain America, Idris Elba as both Moreau & Heindall even Josh Brolin as both Cable & Thanos.
They referred to him as Victor Von Doom in the announcement-- he's not going to be Tony in and capacity. He's going to play both for one paycheck, essentially
Ooooo here's an idea. So while jumping around time to get the stones in End Game, Tony had a run in with his Dad. What if some kind of butterfly effect happened to prevent Tony's Dad from ever being in his life. Could Ironman -positive influence of Howard Stark = Dr. DOOM
I'm down for this. The armor around the world line always stuck with me. Would also love a plot where 616 avengers meet RDJ Doom and think they know what he's capable of, while 616 F4 think they know him as well.
I hear you. But i think at this point. Its insane to think they have anything resemebling a plan. It just comes off as they're trying to salvage this saga as best they can and move on
Yeah but rdj is here to fill in for Kang in the next movies he probably won't be doing doom after secret wars. It's oblivious he going be some variant of stark or doom. I'm for it can't complain before I see it
I agree, I think there is no way they get RDJ to come back if RDJ didn’t like the idea and if this wasn’t part of a solid plan. I mean I saw reports about RDJ coming back as Doom weeks before the announcement at SDCC. So I think this has been the plan for a while or at least since the situation with Jonathan Majors. I think this has been in the works longer than people think and isn’t just a desperate ass pull.
Honestly I think it just comes down to the simple fact that you need an actor of RDJ's caliber to adequately portray such an iconic villain as Dr. Doom. Especially since Marvel seriously dropped the ball by not establishing the character in any way and they need to do a spectacular speed run back story before the 2 Avengers movies so the audience is invested in Victor Von Doom as much as they are for Thanos or even Loki. Given the special effects/CGI possibilities available now, I'm not worried about Victor Von Doom looking and sounding suspiciously like Tony Stark. Also having the Russo brothers directing is another smart move, they have proven that they can handle multiple characters and Secret Wars is going to dwarf Endgame by far on that.
Cillian Murphy could've easily filled that role, he's just as skilled an actor as Tony and has a wider range of characters he's played. Hopefully he gets the Doom casting for the next saga, since we know Doom sure as shit ain't gonna be one and done after this saga
@@jarrettmaynard6306 Absolutely. Casting RDJ as Doom because "we need a star" is the height of B.S. Cillian Murphy would've been a great choice for a younger Doom. If they wanted someone RDJ's age, cast Predrag Bjelac, or Nikola Djuricko, or Misha Collins or Tobias Menzies. For that matter, get Jason Isaacs on the phone! Holy hell would he be a brilliantly charming, terrifying Dr. Doom! Or if they were going for a bit younger, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Tobias Santelmann, even I bet Michiel Huisman could've done a great turn at making Doom a fully-fleshed out villain.
It's just a different character, the thing many people are failing to remember is that why Victor Von Doom wears a mask in the first place, he is disfigured so he isn't gonna look like Tony Stark at all just because RDJ is playing him.
When RDJ was shown as Dr. Doom. I already assumed that we would be an alternate universe version of Tony Stark, who changed his name to Victor Von Doom, and took the role of Dr. Doom with the same task that 616 Tony had, just taking it in a more villainous way.
What if they do the body swap angle and Doom is actually Cillian Murphy but Tony is trapped in his body. Cillian Murphy acting as Tony Stark would be wild
There was a scene in the Avengers where Thanos said “he knows Tony Stark” ..... being Dr. Doom yet still Tony Stark could get us that possible meeting of Stark and Thanos .... they could be villainous cohorts in some universe.
This is why I wait for your videos! I had such a weird reaction to the announcement. I had all these theories running through my head but you've made sense of them, thank you!!
I think the anchor would be the avengers dying by Ultron and then igniting him to protect Latveria/sokovia and become Dr. Doom ruler of his whole universe. Making him wanting to travel to other universes and make them see the error of their ways...
I guarantee you that they change dr dooms back story and he's not even gonna be named Victor which will piss alot of people off. But he's gonna be a tony stark variant that goes evil because of how things turns out in his universe Guaranteed.
I think it’s gonna be an dark Vader scenario, where when he’s not wearing the mask or before he’s doom, he will be played by a different actor. But when he becomes doom, it’ll be robert
RDJ isn't playing an alternate Tony Stark. Joe Russo explicitly said "the one person who could play VICTOR VON DOOM." RDJ is playing Victor Von Doom, NOT Tony Stark. There is a world where there is no Tony Stark, and that is the Fantastic 4 world.

“Same task” is believably delivering yet another very complicated character who wears a mask. RJD is a fantastic actor. He’ll deliver. But can hardly wait to see Dr. Doom doing his thing in the big screen!
Omg what if at some point during endgame, variants of Tony stark switched places and now he’s the only one who remembers Peter Parker. May be insignificant but would be kinda cool addition to the story
I’m believe they’re gonna go for a council of doom storyline. Hear me out: They’ve already announced RDJ, Then there’s a possibility they’ll announce another line of big name actors to play versions of Doom to take on the Fantastic 4
I still think it's possible we're going to get a different "real" Doctor Doom and the RDJ version ends up being a variant -- but it's a variant that explains with one easy-to-parse face that Victor von Doom is every bit in the same intellectual class as Tony Stark AND Reed Richards. It immediately brings Doom up to Tony's level, and then we can use *that* knowledge to comprehend that Reed's even smarter.
