Arijit and Shreya should be where Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran are. Edit: Seeing some people misrepresent what I mean. I mean Arijit and Shreya are leagues better singers than Ed and Taylor and yet don't enjoy the same international fame, clout and money they pull. They should be marketed better to a global audience. Also them singing in Hindi shouldn't be a barrier to international fame as we see enough Spanish singing artist get global following, so clearly it's possible. Hope it clears my opinion.
Sonu Nigam, Alka Yagnik, AR Rahman, Kk, Lata mangeshkar, Kumar shanu, Kishor Khanna, Atif Aslam and many many many more are beyond these English singers all we want is to realise their beautiful voices

Hit the nail on the head. This is why old songs are so golden...all the greats sung them with such expression and inflection!!! The actors could sit in one spot and just with their expressions mesmerise the audience. No having to act, dance and jump around practically naked. They had real chops!

Lol. Hindi is one of the most recent languages in its current form. It's not an ancient language, not even a medieval language. A language is backward because it hasn't been cultivated. Hindi is also backwards for the same reason.

Just as world audience who don't know Hindi are not aware about her, we as Indians, who don't speak many regional languages, don't know about many greats. it doesnt make them any less of a legend.
