@@Jaasss Can you please do a Skate 1 and 2 walkthrough series on your RU-vid channel? And please don't have your created skater wear a skeleton shirt just like what you did in Skate 3. In my opinion, skeleton shirts on created skaters are terrible and scary. Have your skater wear a regular t shirt, regular button shirt, regular sweatshirt, or regular jacket for me, please. Thank you and have a good day.
@@dbspaceoditty because the map is huge, more detailled, with a lot of linking and paths, with better textures and better ideas and more creativity, and more complete. That’s why
Skate 3 is when they started to "Tony Hawkify" the whole map to where it no longer felt like natural spots, now it's just a house with a quarterpipe attatched to the side, or just overall transition in spots that don't make real sense.
@@ThePersonNetwork That means the map should be big enough that it incorporates the best of both games. I liked skate 2's street aspect but I LOVED skate 3's park design
Gotta say the original skate. had such a lovely, lively map. You’re in a city. So much of the game focuses on nailing the best elements of skating in San Francisco, Vancouver, and Barcelona. The game is practically the best love letter to international skating, sponsorships, and vibe. Outside of parks like the X Games, LL Regs, and the Community Center, Skate 1 feels like you’re skating a city. Skate 2 builds on it and is still street focused, but there was a major emphasis on transition added. Skate 3 is merely a playground.
I hope skate 4 incorporates aspects from all the games. I’d love to see a longer campaign where you start as an amateur and have to film like in Skate. and get sponsored, then as you compete more and more you get to start your own brand with even more customization than skate 3. I think what every skate game was missing was a fun campaign rather than just challenges. I don’t care if the campaign would take like 6 months to finish, it’d be cool to have a real story. They also need the map to be massive, like really really big. I’ve played skate 3 for so many hours I haven’t found an obstacle I haven’t done a trick on in years.
It would be really cool if you could film a full part for a video where the game edits in, branding and skits etc for you into the video you make so It actually looks like a skate part.
@@shotzcapalot I’ve personally only ever played THPS3 but if that’s what my explanation sounded like then yes! I’m not the biggest fan of THPS controls, I like the skate controls that are somewhere in between THPS and Skater XL
I agree, skate 2's ditch is miles above 3's. The whole map flows together nicely while 3's maps felt like a bunch of locations haphazardly tied together.
Ill say it like this, Skate 2 had a better string of areas while skate 3 had more numerous interesting areas. The issue with skate 3 is they arent always tied togeather in a convient line like the ditch in Skate 2 for example. However there are some really fun lines you can take that will have you hit some huge spots all over the city without ever slowing down, or if youre a madlad enough you can combo the entire city on my favorite line (i cant balance a manual that long personally but)
But the problem with Skate 2 is you have to progress through the game to get rid of those security plates blocking the grind areas apart from that the game was perfect
@@deathvault5615 I don't know man.. that just might be your preference I just know a lot would agree with skate 2 taking the title As for why? Probably couldn't list you all the reasons but I can sure see a few
@@deathvault5615 For me it's the world design. Skate 3's world is a great skateboarding sandbox, but it feels too -much like it was designed that way- artificial. Skate 2's world felt more like a real, normal city you're a skateboarder living within whereas Skate 3 felt like a city designed by skateboarders for skateboarders. It's fun, but the premise of skateboarding in a "normal" city (or even a city architecturally hostile to skateboarding) is what drew me into the series in the first place. *Edit:* Also Skate 2 just has a better spillway. The drop from the sign to the ramp and runway underneath the power line tower is iconic. It's an awesome racetrack and Hall Of Meat location, and nothing in Skate 3 matches or exceeds it.
@@afecx8249 You've never played skate 3 have you? You cannot skate through the whole map. There's University District, Downtown District & Industrial District, all 3 of which require teleporting to travel between them.
I really liked how gritty the skate 2 map felt, on top of that it just genuinely felt like a bigger map and more spaced out, plus there were spots that had layered areas that just made it really dope.
Facts. Skate had the actual best map. Movement being tied to board is what held back the appreciation. Which is ironic cause mfers spout skate 2s realism as a reason why the map is better.
Skate 4 needs a nutty map like 2 but all the vibes of skate 1 like I can’t believe p.rod was only in the first one the first skate is just full of love
@@whylerplane5440 Kids today don't give a shit about Gonz or Donnie Barley or those kinds of dudes though, let's be real lol. Find me a 15 yr old who knows who the hell Jason Dill or Ryan Smith or Ryan Gallant are, ya know? They would rather play as Braille Skateboarding or Steve Berra.....barf
idk if im insane for this but i actually like skate 3's washed out aesthetic a lot more than 1 and 2's abrasively color graded ones. even looking at the menu to 2 irks me a little bit
Skate 2 is the goat of all skateboarding games. The map was perfect, the diversity on it was awesome, the colors and the vibes of it were awesome too. The city felt alive with always something going on. You just roam around and you would find new spots every single time. Something amazing about the map is how everything felt for the lack of a better word connected. So many landmarks that you could easy remember and also everything got the feeling of always flowing like you would never stop. You just do something, do a trick on a spot and yo just kept going forever to another spot without really stopping and without noticing it. Felt like a never ending skateboarding video This game was just perfect.
I feel like skate two map was much more natural and realistic so it was easy to flow through but i think skate 3 map was much more versatile at any given spot. 300 options in one corner. Skate 2 was much more of a realistic challenge, skate 3 was crazy with possibility. Plus throwing little objects like ramps from the sky helped
I liked the way Skate 1's grabbed rotations felt and could spend hours in the bowl of that first park, Skating street difficult but immensely rewarding when you landed something. Skate 2 had the better maps and felt a little easier to land street tricks, but I missed the first games rotation feel. Skate 3 was generally ok all around but wasn't as replayable as the first 2. It wasn't as stand out, never hooked me like the first 2.
I didn't ever enjoy any Skate game after the first one AS MUCH AS I did playing Skate 1. Sure there may be better mechanics/features in the other ones, but the first game had the low camera angle, some really fun spots/maps, fantastic soundtrack, and I guess the color tone, if that's the best way to describe it.....as well as controls...something about the first games controls really did it for me, and it changed after that, along with many other things. I don't hate the other games, I just prefer and like the first game the most. Super excited for the new one! It's been a long LONG time since I played any Skate game and this looks like it will pull me back in. Only recent skateboarding game I've played is the THPS1+2 remake, of course that was good but isn't the same as Skate.
I can’t even begin to tell you how many times I reloaded at my spawn marker over and over and over again at that spot for hours every time I’d play. Definitely one of my favorite experiences in any skateboarding game this game has phenomenal spots. Playing skate 3 never even came close to me none of the regions came close to what skate 2 had to offer imo
I loved the grittiness of skate 1 and 2 but when they switch to the clean modern aesthetic in part 3 I felt something was missing and just off but I still loved the game in its own way. always went back to skate 2 though, those sewer runs were always a fun challenge to get through!
I been wanting to play this game since 2009 when I saw it in the GameStop. Today I finally was able to get it through the Xbox360 marketplace . Been having a blast!
This gives me flashbacks to when I was so bad at Skate where I was lucky if I could roll away this gap without crashing, now I can literally do it with my eyes glancing off screen at RU-vid videos (as long as I see the game in corner of eyes)
I feel like skate 3 had better gameplay mechanics and the overall pacing and flow of gameplay gave alot more freedom than skate 2. But the graphics and maps were way better in skate2, hopefully they find away to make everything flow in skate4 giving us an authentic and fun experience.
SKATE 2’s map was way better, I liked how it was 1 map and you could skate anywhere unlike skate 3 was divided into 3 districts and in order to get to the other you had to teleport. I hope skate 4 keeps a big map like skate 2.
skate 2 map felt super organic and alive the spots doesnt felt super obvious it just felt like when you find a perfect spot in real life that wasnt even think for you to skate buut still it works and how it was a one big map interconected not 3 separated parts like skate 3 i mean 3 was a really good game but the map felt generic AF and didnt felt organic nor had the charm of skate 2 at all
I think Skate 1 had the best map by FARRRRRR. It was super street mixed with some nice vert park areas actually felt like a world rather than some massive skateboarding area to do tricks in.
Imagine if there was an ultimate Skate game: you can go anywhere on the map from all three games, change the look of the game on the fly, and you have access to all the tricks. You can turn guards on or off, etc.
0:02 observatory spillway 0:06 spillway 0:17 danny way's hawaiian dream 0:26 factory roofs pipe 0:36 spillway for those of yall who want to try some of this in skate 3 :D
Dude, this is amazing. Im stuck playing skate 3 and i grew up on skate 2, it was my main skate. I still love skate 3 but my love for skate 2 is unbeatable.
Ah that session marker brings back memories, used to go home at lunch at school in year 12( you werent aloud previous years ) to my mates that lived a block away from school we would just jam skate 2 all lunch maybe abit of gta 4 too
I found the channel I'm finally home, the comments all reminisce on Skate 2's great scenery and realism, people who played Skate 3 kept praising it but never touched Skate 1 or Skate 2, finally I get to read opinions on Skate 2 and I'm liking them so far
In my opinion this was the greatest skating game ever made. That and skate 1 . I love tony hawks and without him there would be no genre but Skate was so legendary and perfect for a real skating feel with extreme stunts
Yeah Fr skate 1 is easily the best and most realistic, love the backpack, ll regs, the adidas store, how you can actually enter them sort of, the little park in the back of ll regs… easily the best of the 3
@@codymachado and the train station bit at top of map was cool could skate it, id say skate 1 was the best the map was so good, skate 2 map theres probably bits id say was better heck id love skate 4 to just be skate 1 map with bits added from skate 2, skate 1s map had such sick spots but some bits were quite empty
2 and 3 are both amazing. I feel like personally though I could play skate 3 for hours and not get bored and I feel like skate 2 would get old for me. Idk what it was. Just preference I guess.
dude i used to always tell my dad to boot up skate 2 so i could skate off that cliff area and break as many bones as i could, i still have this on my xbox 360
Now I'm going to be honest with you this is one of my favorite spots in Skate 2 I would always know lie when I would load up my Xbox honestly this is like the first spot that I would warm up great video
As someone with a couple thousand hours on both skate 2 and skate 3 I can tell you this. Skate 2 os basically better in every aspect. There original skate was great as well but doesn't hold a candle to 2 or 3. They were the perfect bubblegum for the brain kind of games. Just pure mindless fun and I loved it.
npc's felt more lifelike too for example 2 woman bumped into each other started arguing and eventually one tazed the other while i was just skating around
