I'm a male victim of rape at the hands of a female rapist. I asked a woman who was doing the "all men" thing if I was justified in treating all women like they were predators since I was assaulted by a women. (This was her own logic; she had been raped, so all men were evil). She called me a misogynist for even asking the question.

My advice to you would have been to stay away from women unless you are healed from what happened to you. As someone with CPTSD due to several encounters (not just one) with predators and pedophiles, what abuse lead me to believe about myself caused me not to trust all men. (I also have ASD and ADHD causing the inability to read social cues and understand certain emotions/actions) as I grew into a teenager, I saw any look of desire from a man as a threat because men aren't supposed to desire little girls... And lots of men desire little girls. I also encountered molestation and SA as an adult...even in marriage I was abused. Healing and emotional maturity (as abuse arrests your development) helps put life in perspective and better gauge dangerous situations.

I had an argument on Reddit with some girl about this, she screamed saying I didn’t know what it’s like to be a woman. I said actually I do because I am a woman, I have been sexually assaulted and called names by men I’ve said no too. But you know what I have fantastic men in my family and I was in the Army with men who I thought of as brothers. They always would protect me and I would for them, I was sexually assaulted in the Army by another soldier and when I told the guys that I was close too they beat his ass because my unit wouldn’t do anything. Not every man in the whole world is evil and terrible.

Thank you for your service, and I am sorry for what you went through. I'm with you. I've had arguments with other women, irl & online, and the vitriol that gets spewed over "All Men" is terrible. I've been stalked, harassed, assaulted, drugged, and raped. I'm not a wild person, or a "bad girl" and those boys and men were *generally* not the "type" to seem like threats. But they were not Every Man, and I have family and friends who would defend women even if they were strangers. My husband is a good man. But there are women so brainwashed they not only can't grasp the concept of a good man, they call me a traitor for having been raped but not blaming all men, and a "pick me" for defending men. I've seen women with my own eyes and heard them with my own ears picking up lovers, only to claim they were raped when their boyfriends or husbands found out. I get so furious, because it is people like that that made it hard for rape victims to be believed! But not All Women are treacherous, just like not All Men are rapists. It's too polarized anymore. I have a daughter and a son, and I worry for them.

As someone who was sexually abused by my mother’s father for nine years of my childhood and adolescence, this is something that takes years of healing. I do not hate all men, but my experiences are constantly trying to protect me from the dark sides of them. It is a constant battle in my mind trying to reassure myself of the many good men in this world, including my kind, caring husband. I’d almost liken it to being attacked by a shark. While shark attacks happen very rarely, if you were attacked by a shark, I can assume you would have a hard time going back in the ocean. Unfortunately, things like child sexual abuse, domestic abuse, and rape are far more common than shark attacks, and those crimes are predominantly committed by men. That is not to say that all men are bad. I know very good men. But I do not blame women who have had very negative experiences at the hands of men for being wary of them. The same way that I would not blame a man who had been severely mistreated by women for being wary of them either.

I hate hearing these types of comments. I’m a mom of two boys with my fiancée. So I’m surrounded by men. She verbally and physically abused him every single day and because of that he now has ptsd and goes to weekly therapy because it caused so much trauma. He had every right to defend himself against her but never did because he believed in not harming women. So I would say more men get abused then women, it’s just not reported because of humiliation. Exactly. And the issue with this is instead of understanding why women feel this way, often times alt-right or conservatives take the opposite approach. That such views are more harmful ( somehow than actual rape or murder of women itself) and make this narrative all about themselves. Can you imagine the narcissism? I'm all for stopping anyone who hates (this includes women who hate men for no good reason) but this is a minority. And their points still exist: IT IS far more dangerous being a woman due to misogyny. I think nuance is important here. You don’t need to hate all men, but being cautious of them is wise. Things like assault are actually statistically more likely to be enacted on you as a woman by the men you know (partners, father, brothers, cousins, friends, etc) as opposed to some stranger. It’s like, not every bee stings, but knowing they have the capacity to if they wanted to, is exactly why you should be careful around them, and I think the same applies here. You don’t need to hate men or rage against them, but being cautious around them and being slow to let them into your lives isn’t always a bad choice; after all, if they decide they want to hurt you, there’s little you can do in that moment, so being preventative as possible isn’t something I can fault women for.

This takes a lot of therapy, sometimes years to treat, and in some cases it may never be healed if the trauma is so deep. I suspect that rightly or wrongly, if the reason you hate men is because a man abused or attacked you, then I can see how easily a person could come to this conclusion, as a form of self protection. It is very complicated.

Men go through the same thing with women. When these people truly mature out of it they realize the problem all along was the people they were attempting to choose as partners for them. Most people respond more to biological impulses or arbitrary characteristics when selecting a partner. They aren't considering who they are, the difficulty a partner might have to deal with in them, or really whether the person they are selecting represents what's important to them or what they need in life. Part of maturing here involves learning yourself and understanding the balance of what you have to give and what you should take to make a relationship work. Sometimes when we don't recognize our own flaws or why we really choose the people we share our lives with, we also don't realize that sometimes two people together are like a chemical reaction bringing out the worst in both of you. Sometimes it turns out that awful ex who hurt you is really just an awful mix of two people that bring out the worst in each other. In the end, for too many people, it's easier to blame "men" or "women" than it is to admit we failed to do our own work in growing and picked our partners in life poorly.
@awsambdaman
@awsambdaman 6 месяцев назад
Well said. Also for me, I blamed all women for awhile because it’s what you see online. All the stuff about hating men and the pickiness and entitlement of a lot of women got to my head. And generalized all women and avoided all women. Like a lot of redpill men do. You’re not going to see a woman like my wife who damn near tears up talking about her father who she loves so much because he would do anything for her. And you’re not going to see how I broke down mentally a few days ago and my wife called my mom crying and saying I need help. And another woman (my mom) did everything she could to help me get a few days extra off work. Women caring for and appreciating men. It’s easy to blame an entire other gender especially when you don’t have a lot of experiences with them. Unfortunately the bad experiences tend to hurt more than the good experiences feel good. So the bad ones we remember at the forefront, to protect ourselves. But if stop and use some cognitive effort and think about the opposite gender people who were nice or caring to us, you can probably come up with a ton of them. Even if just in platonic interactions throughout your life. We see the bad stuff because the algorithms run on us being outraged. Because angry people leave comments and likes

@pcphantom1978
@pcphantom1978 6 месяцев назад
@@kickmuncher3 My wife's father was not nice, he was kind of messed up to her and left her with some things in her head that I still combat to silence to this day. My parents, especially my mother were jacked up, and did some damage it took me a long time to even realize was there. My wife has been a guiding voice in fighting those voices the whole time. Sometimes we have trauma, sometimes we have damage, and that's perfectly okay. It is our responsibility to get to a healthy enough place dealing with these things that we don't inflict harm on those around us. Neither of us are openly hating on our parents, which is a good marker of how far we've come in dealing with it. We can see the things that made them the way they were and realize they were just humans that we didn't have a good relationship with. If you've dome the work and overcome the trauma from a harmful relationship with your parent(s), you know, because it's some of the hardest work you'll ever do and how it needs to be done is different for us all. Those who think they've done done it and it's easy haven't even started yet. Once you know, you know, and it changes you. At that point in your life, you never need to ask if it's okay, because you'll know that the only people who would judge you otherwise are not on the level you should expect from a partner. You and everyone should always remember that you are a valid person, your lived experiences are real things you must face and deal with in life. For those with trauma, it is our responsibility to figure out that we have it, face it, deal with the ramifications, and get to the point where we can acknowledge when it impacts us and not harm others because of it. A real example of that trauma often manifests in ways such as resentment towards groups of people who resemble the source of your trauma. A really good marker that you have this kind of trauma, although there can be other sources, so it's best to work this out with a psychologist, is when you feel hostility towards all men or all women. A man who has a strong loving bond with his mother will have a hard time even after the worst breakup truly believing all women are bad. Likewise, a woman who has a strong loving bond with her father will have a really hard time truly believing all men are bad because of that bond. Historically, we usually don't hear about this stuff because those people often try to emulate that loving relationship in their partners. I have a saying I've been saying for many years. Your opposite sex parent has never been what you will aspire to be. Your dad can not teach you how to live as a woman, because he's never walked a day in a body like yours or face what you've faced. Likewise a mother can not teach her son how to be a strong man, because she doesn't know. The best role such a parent can ever play in your life is to be an example of what they should expect from their partners, to teach them how to be loved through example and love them unconditionally. If a woman sees her father mistreat her mom, he is teaching her what to expect from men, and if her mom takes it, she is teaching her daughter how she should respond to these things. Broken families are a reality of life, but this doesn't change our responsibilities nor does it change how we teach others looking to us for examples. I came from a broken family and I was absolutely damaged by it, I have damage that I will take to my grave. That doesn't mean anyone, not my wife or my kids should suffer because I suffered, it is our job to be the one who breaks generational trauma. We can use them as an excuse to perpetuate the damage and be a victim with a good defense story, or we can own it, deal with it, and do better for future generations. If your father failed to show you the love you need, don't blame it on all men, just be careful, take time to heal, and look for a man who embodies the best qualities you wish you had a father to show you. Find a man who shows you through his deeds, not through your belief in him, that he is someone you can trust with the most fragile and gentle part of your soul, and he will protect and safeguard that part of you. Likewise, be the person that he can do the same with, because we all have a part of our heart we need to protect, and for our partners we must be the one to help them protect it, not embody what they are protecting it from.

However, the mature 'dog fearers' act sensibly around dogs, telling their owners of their apprehension, being calm and sensible around dogs and quietly removing themselves to a distance. Others act hysterical when there is no approach by a passing dog, becoming verbally abusive of the owner, despite no evidence of aggressive behaviour from the dog or owner. I completely agree about maturing out of the fear mentality. It doesn't help that society thinks that r@pe jokes involving men everyone can laugh, that female teachers doing the la cucaracha with 15-year-old *boys* are "empowered" and "a fantasy" for the victim, or that it's genitaI mutilation for women, "circumcision" for men... etc. Including some men thinking like that about men. And I'm a man, I know.

Yes, yes people who get bit by a dog usually have fear also everyday a woman died due to domestic violence, most molestation is s family member or friend. Worse missing girls between 10-16. It’s unbelievable.

Absolutely! I got attacked by a dog as a kid, and I was terrified of dogs for like the next 10 years. Not all men are like this, but I have yet to meet one that isn’t. I do know they are out there, though.

Actually many people who get bit by a dog view all dogs as a threat. I view dogs as a threat and I’ve never even been bitten by one. It just so happens that when big dogs are playful they jump and I’m short so they knock me over

It's a sad place in this world right now. It's hard to find positivity with all the chaos. My husband is an amazing man whose presence reminds me there are good men out there. While at the same time, I was assaulted by my own cousin.

Many people become scared of dogs when they have a really bad experience with one, others don't. I think it's the same for women, some have a really bad experience and fixate on that one bad thing that happened to them, while others just move on. My mom watched her cousin's head be ripped open by a dog, she has never been able to trust a dog since, or at least not a big one, while my brother was bit on the lip by a dog and he still loves dogs. Similarly, I have a friend who's dad is incredibly manipulative and cheated on her mom many times and this has forever tainted her image of men, while another friend of mine has never met her biological dad and her step-dad is an alcoholic and borderline abusive, yet she's had enough positive experiences with men that she moves on from the bad ones.

If we are talking physical and verbal abuse I've seen more women openly hit and verbal abuse a man even out in public that's how you know they do it more, if they comfortable attacking someone first in public you know they more abusive.

Not all men are bad, not all women are good. However, I was almost murdered by my 6'2, ripped, abusive boyfriend. He didn't start out so misogynistic. I noticed he started frequenting more and more online red-pill forums and as he did, he beat me more and some of his beliefs became twisted. He expected me to 'submit' and that it was my job to 'cook, clean, and never talk to any other guy' (even just acquaintances). Eventually he was convicted for abusing me, and then abusing three other girls. There's something happening online that is driving vulnerable men to become toxic, and driving other groups to the edge as well. I think that it's sad that people say 'women hate men'--it's a way to drive us further apart and categorize us.

I mean, getting bitten by a dog is a good example. There are some people out there that are afraid of certain breeds of dogs or even dogs in general. Not even because they've been bitten but because they've heard rumors about how often dogs bite. This is sadly the same thing just directed at men.
@N..P..
@N..P.. 6 месяцев назад
This isn't a matter or rumors of how often it happens. It's a matter of when it does happen, and how traumatic it will be. Very few dog breeds cause fear because of rumors of them biting. They cause fear because people know what happens when they do bite, and that it's much worse than a bite. Comparing different breeds of dogs is like comparing a man slapping a woman to a man beating a woman and leaving her in the icu. She's still being struck, but one is obviously far worse and worth being overly cautious about.

I do actually view all dogs as a threat. I really dislike when people walk their dogs sans leash. And I do view unknown men as potential threats, but that's just situational awareness. I don't hate men, I'm just more wary of them than of women. A guy was walking behind me down a hotel hallway a couple days ago, and I simply stepped to the side and pretended to be briefly lost as to which room I needed so he'd walk past me. I don't need some dude seeing which room I go Into, ya know? It's not hatred, it's just being aware that strangers can be a threat. Wish someone had taught me these things as a teen girl, a lot of things could have been avoided.

I was bitten in the eye by a dog when I was a child (for no reason) so, yes, I view *all* dogs as a threat now. I was assaulted 3 times when I was a young child by men. I know they can be a threat, but I would never walk around proclaiming my fear of men like a magical incantation. You can be vigilant without being belligerent about it. And I don’t hate men; I just understand the world I live in. We all need Jesus.

Trouble is it’s hard to tell which ones are and which ones aren’t. When you are bitten by a dog, you become wary of all dogs. And men these days are very deceptive. In generations past, they didn’t have to be because the cops and the courts and even the so-called Haven houses turned the blind eye. It’s so covert at times you don’t even see they are evil until it’s too late. They even turned from physical to kinds of abuse that cannot be substantially proven such as verbal, emotional, mental, psychological, monetary and spiritual abuse. Source, I was raised and lived in both generations and been victim of both.

But there are a lot of women who have horrible fathers, brothers, uncles, cousins and male teachers. When every man in your life has been abusive in some way, it's hard to take that risk of giving another man a chance.

As a man, I genuinely love being compared to dogs and I think it's fairly appropriate. Some men are golden retrievers, they love everyone wholeheartedly. Some men are cane corsos, they hate everyone except the few people they love with unmatched passion. A lot of us are labs, goofy derps that just want to live a fun life and eat lots of tasty food.

A nuanced point here. Agree with the dog analogy, and the idea that for women who have good men in their lives there is certainly a need for injecting nuance into the conversation. But, there are certainly women who have been abused by those very men who should be the “good men” in their lives - men in positions of trust let’s call them. They can be fathers, uncles, brothers, teachers, pastors, neighbors, friends…That abuse ranges from full on physical sexual abuse perpetrated on a woman (often when she was a pre-pubescent child or adolescent) by men in positions of trust across a range of physical acts directly on the woman or on other women, and other non-physical behaviors like emotional abuse and neglect. As men we have to come to terms that one of the reasons there are so many women like this out there is because they’ve been abuse by a man or men that violated positions of trust.

The dog example: all dogs may be perceived as a threat if the negative experience is traumatizing. Same with men. Is it right or fair? No, yet it is a reality by which I believe we should be more sympathetic. Some women are fortunate not to experience abuse, being assaulted or anything else negative that would scar their very soul. That's not a lack of maturity, it's a lack of healing.

Tbf I was chased by a Rottweiler while walking through my childhood neighborhood, tried to jump a fence to escape, ended up stuck upside down because the fence spikes at the top caught my shirt. So I was upside down on a fence being barked at within an inch of my face by a dog that wanted to eat me, so I was afraid of dogs in general for a long time. It wasn't until probably a decade later that I really started to enjoy dogs again. I agree there should be nuance but I just wanted to add this point to the mix. My experience with a dog was so traumatic that I physically could not be near dogs without panicking. I agree with mindset that not all men are bad, again I just wanted to comment specifically on amela's comment about dogs.
