Whether you ride a KTM 125 a Kawasaki Ninja 400 a Triumph Street Triple a Yamaha R1 or an old Harley Bagger motorcycles offer us two-wheeled therapy and in this video I try and explain why motorcycles move our souls. Are you considering riding a motorcycle? Or perhaps you are trying to explain why you love riding so much to your friends and family then watch this video to try and understand the psychology of motorcycles.

"If i have to explain, you wouldn't understand." Saw that phrase on a t-shirt at my first biker event back in the '80s and it's as true today as it was then. You explained it perfectly but most still won't get it. Their loss.

You brought a tear to my eye with this one! I've often tried to explain to others who wonder why I can just go out for 6 hours with no destination in mind and that riding is my meditation. When all you can do is focus on the ride EVERYTHING else goes away and for that time I'm simply just in that moment, Pure bliss. It was another wonderfully poetic video and one I shall have ready when a none riding friends does not understand my passion for riding.

Damn, that got me in the feels. Meditation in motion...the best therapist money can buy. I came to it at 52 (what took me so bloody long???) And honestly, it's the best fun you can have with your clothes on. Riding makes this old girl feel young. Every time.

I have just returned to biking after a 13 year bikeless period. I moved to Snowdonia and I just had to get a Bike. So after 13 years bikeless I got myself a CBR1100XX Super Blackbird. Going down to pick it up I was like b*ll*cks what are you doing you fool and then I got there and sat on her and within 10 minutes on the ride home ( a 90 mile ride) it was like daddy was home and the Blackbird was made for me......oh what such incredible pleasure and excitement she has given me over this summer and autumn.

Eloquently phrased Andy. We all relate to your mindset. Last Thursday as I ate my breakfast I automatically set my car to 23 degrees. I walked to the garage and the door lifted knowing my “fob” was in “set off” mode. I travelled in warmth, with a heated seat and steering wheel and in a level of silence only a few years ago we couldn’t have dreamed of. The car steered its way to the office almost without input from me (every two minutes a lovely soothing voice reminded me to, “please take over control”) The car knows the speed limits and adheres to them perfectly. I arrive at the office having barely woken up. A day later I adorn my wet weather gear (the only concession to my age a heated jacket) and I do the same journey on my 1966 Raleigh Runabout RM6. Clearly despite having big bikes it’s not speed that attracts me. On only one of my journeys do I walk into the office with a smile on my face like a Cheshire Cat. Your monologue nailed it, I appreciate it and thank you for it, I was beginning to wonder if I too had been dropped on my head at an early age. 😊

Spot on Andy. Aside from the perks of wind therapy, there is no better way to go 400 + miles in the summer and Actually be able to " take it all in " . Truth said, You can do everything on a bike ..... except tow a fifth-wheel camper or ride in snowy conditions.

Just got back from the west coast of Scotland having lugged the bike up on a trailer overnight through storm Babet. I rode every day and even up as far as Malaig and never felt a drop of rain.....in the third week of October.🤷‍♂️ I was pondering this very question and I think that I now understand why Peter Pan didn’t want to grow up. Riding the bike, even my 125 Varadero, is the closest thing I know to flying like Pan. You see, feel and even smell everything. It’s completely immersive. Even my inner voice is swamped from its constant character assassination of the prat holding the handlebars! Freedom? You bet your ass it is!😂

At it's best, riding is meditation or 'mindfulness' as the modern guru$ like to sell it. "...it stops my mind from wandering where it will gooo...🎶". When we are focusing in 'the zone' there is an absence of internal chatter, a high speed silence within, the noise of the wind without.

Well said, that man. I think I'll plagierise this when called on to explain the attraction of motorcycling. Even if my interloceter is none the wiser when I'm done I won't feel as though I've been trying to explain the rules of Mornington Crescent.

My Dad used to let me take over the controls of his Cessna years ago. That feeling of controlling a plane thundering through the air with total freedom; that's the closest thing I've felt to riding a motorcycle. I think a sailboat might be similar, though less full of adrenaline! I'm poor. I can't afford a vacation. I can't even afford a fun night out. But, i can afford to fill my 5 gallon tank and forget about my troubles for a while.

Love your poetic way of explaining what many will never understand, even a large number of those who do ride. This is another one of your epic videos that has once again posed the question of how long it takes you to prepare, edit and narrate such a masterpiece. Thank you for your time and effort dear Biker friend, twas very much appreciated, I lapped up every word. Greetings from a life-time Biker of 71, who started at home on the Farm, aged 14, and then on the lanes and highways of south England, as soon as was legally possible. You have hit the nail on the head with this explanation, revealing how Motorcycling can replace many a large bill from any Shrink, thus leaving more funds free towards that next bike I saw down the Dealership last week...., do wot luv, is that effing washer broke again?!!

Hello Andy. Just speculating here, but my guess is that your favorite turn is the drive through at McDonalds. 😋 Seriously though in the beginning I just fell in love with riding. Couldn't say exactly why; performance, in touch with nature or maybe something else. Now I find that riding is the best way to eliminate all the thoughts of daily life, the job and the goings on of the world. I cannot think of anything else in my life that demands such a focused and clear mind.
