It’s crazy the difference between the vintage Rolex’s and the modern ones. I have a 72 gmt and my brother in law just got a new submariner and that thing is like a brick. Much more substantial feeling.

When saturation divers are decompressing they are in a dry environment. The crown can simply be unscrewed and let the helium escape that way! Therefore every dive watch has a helium escape valve.

So here’s what I don’t like about the watch… from Midnight to roughly 3am it’s inaccurately displaying the day/date. The movement doesn’t click over those functions until roughly 3a… I tried an IWC Portofino PC and the day/date flip right at midnight. WHY can’t the JLC?

I prefer automatic watches rather than Quartz….quartz is a big selling point. I tend to think quartz watches are cheaper to make, and the generally use batteries. Quartz watches can be more accurate, but automatics might be more reliable. Yeah invita used to be a great brand can’t find a pro diver with a valjioux movement for under 700.00. Invicta also owns a lot of watch companies, so they probably couldn’t give a dam what people think about the “ Invicta’. Brand. Invicta owns companies like Glycine and more..

I think cut off numerals are a neat feature at times, and when done well they are very stylish. Maybe a little bit deliberate, but that's okay with me. In the end, even though function is an crucial component to a watch, a dial is also largely about design.

Regarding lumed diver's bezels, I think the heritage brands are always balancing toolness, sportiness, and luxury. The lumed bezel might take away from the older traditions, and it might point too far toward the newer trends in watches.
