Good video, but unfortunately everyone talks about what you can do with NFC tags, but nobody shows how to do the automations, which is not really easy and am still looking for a good video for NFC automations for Android, not Samsung phone users.

Exactly my thoughts .... don't want to see yet more uses for tags, merely a clear step by step tutorial of how to actually automate a tag using an appropriate app. I'll keep looking, but after many weeks of searching I'm not hopeful. It's like, 'look at these wonderful home made cakes' I'll give you the ingredients but then you have to fathom out for yourself the mixing & cooking processes...... talk about frustrating!

@@iannicholls1284 I just went through the same thing. Turns out for those who aren't the most tech-savvy, writing NFC tags can be pretty convoluted. First step, you actually have to buy either NFC tags or NFC cards that are blank. The small tags usually are sold for less than 1 USD. The main apps available in order to then write ON the blank tags on Android are: NFC Tools, and NFC Tasks. I'm in the process of teaching myself now. This is the closest video I could find that somewhat explains the process, although it skips over the buying the blank tags part, it's assumed this step has been completed already: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dWaZE2HUasM.html This short video uses attaching a URL shortcut to the tag as an example.

I use the NFC tools app. Can 2 records be added to a tag? For instance, location and url. I'd like to only open url it's at a certain location. I'm trying to prevent someone from saving the url and opening later or pressing back on their browser and opening the url. Is this possible?

For my experience you can utilise the clever url shortener to make your final url more private or make it readable only in specific time, location or device. I can't link a specific service here, but you certainly can google for it.

Hey! Yes its possible, Maybe I should do a video on it. In NFC Tasks (The NFC Tools App) You can select Various > Text to Speech. You can then add any text and when the tag is scanned, it will read that text out that was loaded onto that tag

Have an application on my android phone for checking into a system. That check in is done by the application making an NFC signal to do that. If I didn't want to use my application and just wanted to use a NFC tag. Could that be done?

Hi William, I think this is possible yes but I don't know what the application is sending to the system when you put your phone against it. It sounds like the phone is turning into a RFID Card mode and just sending a simple UID to the system. Try open the application and put your phone against another phone. The other phone should have NFC tools open. See if NFC Tools picks it up what the application is sending.You can try clone that data and then write it onto an NFC Card and your problem should be solved.

I made one to toggle the flash light. In the back of my wallet, on both sides, I have 2 tags, 1 goes to Rick Astley an 1 goes to the Purge sound. Remember that whole problem with had for a while about people freaking out thinking that people were scanning your wallet for info and stuff? That comes up instead LMAO. Depends on what sie you scan lol

If your movies are set up on a server like Plex or Jellyfin, you could use the NFC tag to link to the website address.

Hi Bren 🌞 Fantastic video and also I would like to see discussions that take great care in providing the ability to use NFC/RFID processes with a smartphone while maintaining full send receive data security on the phone... As someone like you would well know, any good hacker or social engineer will endlessly scan for open NFC ports on a smartphone, a tablet or laptop or even drive by hoping to find an NFC port unit plugged into a PC usually through a USB port... These days there are a huge number of people driving around and scanning They go through the rich neighborhoods the middle class if such a thing still exists and now they're going even into the poor areas especially near buildings like mine that have eight floors of people most of whom don't have the Vegas idea of what cell phone security should involve...

Hi Alex that's a great point! With tools like the Flipper combined with IOT electronics like the ESP32 and NFC Boards for it. It's become a cyper security nightmare out there! I think I might put together a video that caters towards best practises around the security of NFC devices and scenarios to avoid! Thanks for the feedback man! 🙏🏻
