Wow… what a day of fishing! Spring/Summer has officially arrived here in Texas & I did not show up prepared for this specie of fish at all, none the less we had a blast Follow me on IG @Fisherman_JMA #RiverFishing #TexasFishing #Fishing
My wife is encouraging in the same way. I love taking her fishing. She also will tell me she saw something epic even if she missed it. She shares in my excitement too. One time we were kayak fishing off shore and a huge turtle came up right beside us. I knew she didnt see it but she swore she did for a day or two lol
When fishing gar use wire for the leader also when you mentioned bites but reeled nothing those are gars. They bite but dont swallo, keep feeding the line until they move the bait more down and then set the hook hard
i live right next to lake lewisville in dallas. i catch tones of big shad nad throw em out there. and for some reason gar like it a lot more then bufflao. its weird
Great job on this video sir. I am happy to see you out there. We are on the opposite end of the spectrum here north of you in Deep East Texas, it is flooding here, Caddo lake is flooded, LOP is flooded, The rivers Are flooded, it is a crazy time with all the rina we have been getting. I seen this posted 3 days ago and it is still crazy here. Yeah, I agreee, you dont want to hit your lady in the face with the hook hahaha, Yes sir, call it a catch, you did a great job, I need to get a lasso I guess, I plan on trying to catch some garr this year, I have accidentally caught a couple, not trying to in the past, got them close and didn't land them, so not officially a catch, but want to learn how and make some fish tacos with some and see how awesome that would be. This fish are amazing in their own right. Thanks for taking the time to share this with us and I hope you both have a blessed week my friend. PS, new sub, keep up the fun videos. Dale
Nice video. If you woulda said you were fishing in the Kankakee river in Indiana, nobody would have known the difference. Some gar, and about everything else you can think of. If you go about 30 miles north, you can hit the rivers that dump into lake michigan, and get salmon and trout the size of that gar you landed. Oops, sorry. I forgot. Everything's bigger in Texas! Good luck. 👍
Where in Texas are you located? I’m in south Texas and the rivers are so low and infested with gar.. I use a shimano bait runner with 60lb mono for gar cause they get big outhere
Yeah man I’m in San Antonio and we definitely need rain, rivers and lakes are drying up fast… and gar are over populated just eating everything up it’s hard to fish for cats or bass
Recently on lake PALASTINE I caught a huge striped bass while tight lining with cut shad off the bank. I don't know why he hit it but he dang sure did. At first I thought for sure it was a feisty blue until he surfaced. Not sure why he hit cut bait. Never had that happen to me.
Only advice I'd give is to clean your gopro every once in a while and If you get/have a hero 7 black or newer, it shouldn't shake as much with the right settings. Otherwise man, that's a good day of fishing.
Yeah man that’s typically not a problem, I hate that I didn’t check on the lens the whole time I was out there lol it drove me insane while I was editing the video!
@@Fisherman_JMA I feel you. I just went through some video that had all bad audio to it. I have an external mic and it was all static. I should have checked it, but I lost 2 outings due to it. It happens and yes, it's frustrating as hell
Yep, Santee Cooper catfish rig. Man, you let some good meat get back in that river. Freaking gar are pretty rough on the game fish. I see them take a lot of small ducks and young mallad ducklings off my brother's yacht in the Kemah yach marina. Need a small hand axe or tin snips to split the hide down the back to filet out the back meat. Gar balls make a great fish dinner. Good luck.
There is one bait to catch catfish in gar infested waters that gar won't touch. It's a cut bait. That's all I'll share amateur. Every real cat man knows the secret. Good luck
I'm so confused here... Catfish are the only fish that eat cut bait? You mean those thousands of gar, largemouth bass, musky, walleye, dog fish, drum and everything else were just accidentally hooked? huh... who would have thunk it... You must be a catfishing professional with that type of knowledge. Please do share with the world...
