Yes!! My freshman just started high school sports and the practices and games will take up so much of our time. I’ve had to have more make ahead meals that can be heated up whenever by whoever is home. This video helped me feel like less of a failure when things aren’t consistent. Thank you!
Thank you Amanda, that helps. I’ve thought I wasn’t consistent for the longest time, but now that I look at it this way, my changes might be mostly seasonal.
Thank you for this! Great timing. My top habits are devotions, prayee journalling and biking on my stationary bike, all of these are in the morning. However after a vacation and getting sick with Covid totally out of sink and energy. Prior to the vacation work was very demanding and dealing with stress so my vacation was supposed to be my reset! Lol
Great refreshing & positive video! A good motto is , then you give yourself permission to be flexible and not feel you've given up or are losing a thing. A closely related theme in fitness and learning is , by doing just a 5min e.g. yoga session as described in the video. It keeps the muscle memory active & gives the mind the reward of saying "I did it", not "I didn't do it", which is like admitting you have lost control & brings shame (which is aversive & makes you feel like disengaging with that activity). Then when the weekend rolls around and you have time to do a full session, you don't have to scratch around looking for your gear or forget your program, or get in that toxic mindset of "oh I fell off the routine I might as well give up". Linked strongly to the phrase "I do xyz, I'm an xyz-er". If you don't say that to yourself or others it's harder to stick with a routine. Bite sized sessions allow you to say that, but stopping completely is a barrier to self belief.
Great video! As a sahm, I find that seasons of the year affect and impact my habits moreso than seasons of life. For example, I find it hard to build a walk outside daily habit when I get two days in with great weather and then it starts to rain just at the point of day when I was otherwise energized to go out and get it done. When it rains the rest of the week, I find a way to exercise indoors, but that desire to go outside and do it as we move towards Christmas and it's even colder/more icy/snowy out goes out the window. In contrast though, my reading habits improve drastically as weather starts fitting the mood. Cozy corner of the couch, an afghan, a cup of hot tea or hot chocolate...perfection!
I loved this video! It makes so much sense. I especially loved the example of changing what you wear with the weather. I downloaded your printable, and I am very excited to use it! Just another reason I am loving breaking away from set goal setting systems to start doing what works best for me right now.
I love this. My women's bi le study group did a home management study over the summer. We loved it so much that we are doing more of it after the new year. I think I am going to incorporate this into our part 2!
Thank you, Amanda, for bringing to the “front of” my mind the need to adapt habits before I am utterly frustrated and unhappy. So often, we bang our heads too long before just adapting for the season 🌷
Great video. I love the topics you made videos about lately. I try to keep the daily habit of reading. One of my habits is daily reading but right now I'm in a very stressful period in my life and it doesn't seem like its going to end soon. I find myself too stressed to focus on books and enjoy myself. But this might be a good time to embrace the habit of journaling, since I have a lot of emotions and thoughts to process.
All of your videos are helpful but this one is almost life changing. I haven't given enough attention to keeping my habits during change. My most important habits are morning walks & planning out my food.
It’s really hard for me to deal with scheduling the things I need to do for me. Every summer I struggle. Even now with older kids. I feel like I’m making excuses but I don’t know how to work around all the variables of summer. I lose sight of what I need to do to take care of myself. Days are so long. This might be exactly what I need to strategize. I’m a Creature of habit that drowns in summer spontaneity. Thank you ❤
I think you are remembering the download you can purchase from Sprouted planner. She has that end of life download which I have mentioned in a video before;)
